Here is how we as a Community can end AFK in PVE

Like anyone who does strikes, I've experienced a ridiculous amount of afk players hoping to sponge off of my hard work. From that asshole spinning in circles in the corner, to that guy walking into a wall repeatedly because he Rubber-banded his controller; we have all experienced this. Instead of going insane with fury I do one simple thing. Leave. Immediately. If this entire community for two weeks could commit to leaving strikes when they see some asshole in the corner spinning in circles there would be no more people afking in strikes. People who afk are like dogs, and have an IQ to match. You reward a dog every time it bites you in the ass, that dog is going to keep biting you in the ass. Stop rewarding these afk assholes and they won't do it anymore. Sure it would suck for a few days, and we would have to sacrifice our streaks, but those couple of weeks of sacrifice would save you years of headache. I understand that things come up, and you may have to step away for a few minutes. Just know that if you are gone for longer than 10 minutes, you are going to return and find yourself alone in the strike. Most strikes don't take much more than 20 minutes to complete, so if you miss more than 10 minutes of it, you really can't complain if everyone leaves. I think it's fair. Since Bungie can't come up with a viable fix for this, let's do it ourselves. Let's bump and sign this and see if we can get this community on board. Edit: I realize comparing afk assholes to dogs is a low blow towards dogs. I love dogs. Afk spongers are more like leeches, nobody likes leeches.

    • Failure to understand the situation leads to things like the original post. You leave the strike and matchmaking will add another. So really you have done nothing. What I do is go on patrol and work my bounties. I find out that they usually leave when they expected the strike to be done.

      • I just go find an enemy, damage it to aggro, and lead it to the afks hiding spot, or spend as much time as it takes to push then into danger or off the cliff, havnt failed to forced the afk player to leave yet... I have waisted too much time with them though...

What I would do is push them inch by inch towards the objective, once they notice I am not doing this alone they either leave or start frickin moving. It can take up to 5-15mins, but I had the time to spare and I don't take it too seriously when I play PVE. Unless I'm grind then Eff you I'm not carrying anyone.

        • I've never AFKed and don't intend to. Indeed, I lost at least one PSN friend declining a Trials carry. But I've gotten lost on a strike once or twice. So your AFK might not really be an AFK. Just a thought.

            • I''ve done that since the beginning. As soon as I realize you're AFK and looking to get carried? I'm out.

              • Really though the system should immediately look at people reported for inactivity. If you don't move and/or do any damage within a short timespan, you get booted. That feature exists in the report options and should be utilized outside of PvP. Bans should come with multiple AFK boots to help clear up strikes for people who actually want to play.

                • I like to stay in the strike and AFK with them, that way nobody takes my space and helps the AFKer through it, but only if we're initially down a teammate. As another alternative to your idea...
...we could blow up the moon. That'll show 'em who's in charge!
• That's how you deal with that relative or sibling that's annoying. But srsly, that is super good advice (ha) But srsly, it bad that people would rubber band their controller so they can leech off of the good person.
