EDIT: flinch isn't even as bad as we all thought it was going to be, sniping is still just as easy, it's a sad sad day when an auto with high caliber rounds can't cause enough flinch to make a sniper rifle inaccurate stay frosty out there
it's all over the place.. Everyone is upset about the change to snipers (most notably, the added flinch)
Personally, I love the change. It creates a much bigger skill gap. We used to get scared coming around a corner and some asshole is just crouched hardscoping with a glare (probably been there for 2 mintues). Now? We get excited because our primary will keep them at bay.. now if they happen to get a headshot, it was a lucky mishap (or they are really good) can't get mad at that..
Being honest. The added flinch was much needed. Making it very hard to hit previously easy shots.
I just find it funny that a lot of people are contemplating quiting sniping or destiny altogether because the easy sniping "fun" factor is gone.. perfect exapmle of all the sheep that play this game and need the "Meta" to compete
Thoughts? Opinions?
Edit: a lot of people didn't like the damage nerf. But it makes sense. Only the highest impact snipers (if any) should be able to one shot someone out of a super.

1 ReplyI was never a huge fan of them outside of PVE. Always felt boring standing around waiting for someone to come by and it felt dirty getting quickscopes.
-
I was decent at best with a sniper, but switched to fusions amd preformed better with them.
-
3 RepliesI have noticed no difference.

3 RepliesI have never been a good sniper. When people say it takes no skill I feel like they are indirectly shaming bad snipers. But I'm not a sensitive flower so I don't mind. I'm just shit at sniping. Rarely ever get headshots.
-
They should have spent more time getting good instead of exploiting a cheap tactic for easy kills. Now all of that time is wasted and they are brought back down to a level playing field. It's seriously the saddest thing I've ever heard...
-
I agree
-
No difference on my end , but I can -blam!- somebody's day up with my super high rate of fire scout now if they try to snipe( 2 shots activates 75% flinch , I can get three off in under a second ) snipers aren't dead , but they can't stall gun fights , or hold lanes anymore like they used to.

14 RepliesSnipers take no skill

It took a year and a half for snipers to grow to the point were so many people complained about them. Snipers will be back and people will complain once again. It isn't a matter of snipers needing nerfs it's a matter of dedicated snipers learn their Weapon more than any other type of Weapon user.

You ever wonder why streamers/you tubers ALWAYS play with viewers
Its to tone down sbmm so they can win easily

can I take off my tinfoil hat now?
It was extremely needed.
-
Don't notice a difference to be honest.

Played 8ish games after the patch, sniping is still just as easy, the only difference being not being able to 1 hit supers

I'm fine with the changes. I'm not a great sniper, but ok. My issues is when I play the raid, you can't 1 bang the Knights at oryx. Not a big deal, but it should be looked at for PVE imo.

10 RepliesIt never took skill. LOL

4 RepliesStill gonna snipe cause I'm good at it and especially because people can't whine about it anymore without out sounding more retarded

Edited by ravenRedwake: 9/12/2016 3:14:24 PMThey should just implement descoping like in Halo 5 for pvp. In pve you should be a God Among Insects as you punish the vile aliens and take from them stuff to use in the crucible. They should remove all super long range scopes unless they are going to be adding in Battlefield sized maps (which they shouldn't do without higher player count let lobby...and still shouldn't do).

5 RepliesGood snipers aren't bothered. Those who rely on aim assist got hit quite hard, but that's a risk you take when you rely on a game mechanic and choose a specific weapon to maximise its effect. The good snipers seem more bothered about being less able to shut down roaming supers. I disagreed with a friend on this one (he's a top tier player, I'm not!). To my mind neither snipers nor shotguns should be able to OHK you out of a super. Teamshot, yes. OHK no. RIP him helping me and a friend in trials in Y3 😀 If you are skilled enough with timing, map awareness and gunskill then you deserve the kill. But if that's the case then you will have time for a second shot, grenade, melee, primary etc. We will see what happens in that MLG event. Personally i would like to see competitive games with no super or heavy, or a power minute where each and supers both get used, and not again after that. For me, snipers got balanced. Shotguns were largely balanced already, except for UR, which got a far larger nerf than snipers (as it should have). Everyone will have their own view though. I use both shotgun and sniper in pve and PvP, so try to see both sides.

2 RepliesEdited by Nike: 9/12/2016 7:37:12 AMMainly as a sniper, I just see this as a change and not much a nerf, it's going to have to make me adapt. Moving often is going to be more of a priority now since flinch will mess you up 90% of the time. I don't mind changes, it can make it a challenge for me to overcome. They were never hard to use in the first place, and a skilled hand won't have any trouble adapting to a change. ~TheGreatNike

Edited by zJDz: 9/12/2016 3:05:18 PMWell I was a sniper mainly and after this Last nerf I can still snipe the only difference is if you don't land the first shot with a sniper it's best to switch to your primary otherwise you will lose. So although I will still snipe in most cases I switched to just shot gunning over the weekend and that brought my kd up from 1.28 to 1.36 on my warlock. Lol, shot gunning is easy mode compared with sniping always has been always will be. And now that you can counter snipers a lot easier just buy shooting them first snipers will become a dying breed. Because I sniped so much I know where all the sniping lanes are and just stay out of them. As long as the sniper doesn't get the first shot off they are dead first now. I occasionally use fushion rifles with plac c being the best but sometimes even when you line it up perfectly a fushion rifle will leave someone with a sliver of health. Shotgunning has no drawbacks, in the worst case you trade with a shotgun. Welcome to the rise of shotguns.

Weird, haven't really noticed much of a difference.
-
They'll buffed next patch. Word.
-
I'll still snipe occasionally. But it's been a few days since I've poured half a clip of ny primary into someone's head and they still dome me with a tracking bullet from their hidden hand shortgaze snipperino. So that's cool.

36 RepliesEdited by Dooodley: 9/11/2016 5:10:56 PM1. I've never expereinced this big snipe problem people refer too. Then again, the vast majority of you seem to be running around with a shotgun so perhaps that's the problem, you get salty when you can't bum rush a person in a straight line from 200 ft. Usually in the middle of that one sniper lane too. It's a user error. 2. Not being able to OHK people in super is stupid. It's just further pushing the balance toward gimmicky abilities and CQB and away from actual weapon use. 3. From what I've seen on twitch it's still fully possible to still land headshots, quite consistently, while being blasted by a primary. Hence, their tweak did very little to correct this so called issue - which wasnt much of an issue to begin with. Lastly, I don't know what kind of people you are playing - perhaps it's a low bracket issue - but in the 2.0 k/d range I probably get shotgunned 20 times for every time I'm sniped. Then again, could just be that in the event that I should see three red lights in the end of a lane - which in itself is rare - I'm not just throwing myself out there.
