There was no reason to get rid of it In the first place. It made ever primary special in its on way besides perks. It would be perfect now since we have strike specific loot and stuff. Or we could get a infusion material that would temporarily make the non elemental primary weapon into a elemental primary and can only be obtained by xur. And before someone says " elemental primary's gives no variety" or "do you want fate bringer gally and black hammer back?"
First off there was some variety in terms of primary in y1 thanks to nightfalls if there was a void burn people would use word of Croat or Atheons epilogue and if you were lucky on skolas and get a void burn weapon, if solar burn people would use vision abyss defiance and once again what ever weapon you get from skolas with solar burn and ace burn obviously fate bringer, skolas weapon, necrochasme and fang of whatever the hell its called (auto rifles was crap at the time but if auto rifles were as good as now more people would use them) but there are so many weapon u can use in different situations in y1 but in y2 however there is still not much variety the majority of people still use the same weapons especially if you bought the hung jury b4 April update. Usually the reason why people use any other gun is because A. There low light and Thats the only good primary they have or B. they actually like the primary ( even tho the perks on it is garbage) or #75. The weapon you currently have is godly so there is no need to change. And primary's are pretty useless in nightfalls or any activity with burns unless you have small arms the only reason why you would use your primary is because you either ran out of special / heavy ammo, you don't have the specific burn weapon, or small arms.
Secondly for the people who say fate bringer is op because of its ace burn. what made fate ringer so godly wasn't just the arc burn it was the combination of perks and the arc burn because if fate bringer didn't have fire fly or arc burn it wouldn't be so godly. Gally and black hammer on the other hand are already op even with out there burn obviously.
Long story short elemental primary's should come back. It doesn't make the weapon op and it will give some variety. It will also give people even a better reason to grind strike and raids or try to get that perfect faction gun.

The game's already easy. If every primary had elemental damage, it would become too easy to the point of being boring. Elemental primaries are gone, and they have been for a year now. Let go of the past and move forward.

5 RepliesNo. Essentially, legendary elemental primaries eliminate all non-elemental, non-exotic primaries. People essentially ran Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence and Word of Crota. Zhalo Supercell is the right way to have elemental primaries.
-
Just do it!
-
-
Haven't finished it but don't forget about trails weapons giving the best elemental weapons <3
-
Yes do that!
-
Didn't read all replies but I'm surprised no one has suggested something which converts super energy to elemental on the primary: That's the trade... Not being able to use your super because it's being eaten.
-
They will. It's only a matter of time.

18 Replies"Year 1 had some variety" stopped reading there.
-
Sad how many people didn't read this or skimmed over it. The elemental infusion thing has always sounded great. Hell, it would make me want MORE weapons, just so I could choose between pve perks with burns or pvp perks without them.
-
1 ReplyThey should add a small quest/bounty you can complete with any gun to add the burn of your choice to the gun. But once it's done it can't be reversed, would make for even more variety. Say I wanted a void hacksaw, I could do something like get 50 kills in the crucible with the gun equipped using a void class
-
1 ReplyWhat if there was an exotic that did all types of damage.
-
No it's better without I don't wanna be forced to use anymore weapons than i already have to

I feel the old way with nightfalls ele primaries was more challenging than now. Which I prefer if the smart reward system actually works. All exotic primaries should have an element. Being able to die and keep progress makes it easier. The new modifiers and non ele burn on primaries just makes some strikes take longer. TTK brought forth the idea that making enemies take longer to kill, makes it harder. I don't think this is the case. It is just annoying and makes you waste ammo. Taken Captains are the only ones that are tough sometimes. Everything else is just annoying.

4 RepliesIf Bungie really wants variety, they need to make an item that allows for you to upgrade a gun so that it could have an elemental effect. I've pretty much been wanting this ever since I got my first few hard mode 'rewards.'
-
I think a consumable that gives you elemental damage for a set period of time would suffice. The trade off would be you are forced to use a 'useless scrub' emblem on the guardian using the consumable.

I have been reading some of the replies to your post. I missed that part of year 1, even though I started in house of wolves, I wasn't around for the vog grind or even scrota. I was disappointed when I learned that raid primaries would not have burns and I was even more disappointed when the raid weapons had random perks attached to them as well but this is only my opinion. Some players support elemental primaries even if it means having to accept a compromise of some sort. However, other players talk about being able to use more weapons now than in year one and that everyone used the same weapons. I get that but bungie did not force a single player to choose those loadouts. They were more effective but if a player wants to use other weapons then just use other weapons and don't worry about what everyone else wants to use. Ultimately, it does not matter what we say because I don't think they are coming back. If they were to return then I believe the consumable idea might be the best method to go about it. This allows a player to use any weapon for a short time with a specific burn. Before I finish this eye cancer of a post, I would like to say one thing about perks. I personally would rather see bad or useless perks like exhumed and guerilla fighter removed from the game. I could live with this and never have an elemental primary at max level.

1 ReplyI can't believe you actually wrote this post so here I go In your argument you listed three weapons that people would use with each burn in the nightfall and only the nightfall in the raid it was only blackhammer gally and fatebringer in PoE it was only blackhammer gally and fatebringer and now in y2 it's hey I'm going to use doctrine in this strike or hey I'm going to use a Monte Carlo. It's whatever you want because it really doesn't matter what primary you use it'll be the same and before the April update all people used was the hung jury I agree but now I haven't actually seen one hung jury not one
ok maybe one
BUT STILL so much variety so so so much in primary, special, and even heavy

3 RepliesI loved elemental primaries and want them back too. It seems there is a section of the community that does not like them due to the fact that they become overused. What if instead of having a few specific primaries guns with burns that everyone uses, we had burn consumables? Have a consumable for each burn and when you use the consumable your primary will have the burn you put on it for say 30 min or 1 hour or 1 day. I don't know what a good time is but that can be tweaked. When the time ends so does the burn and you would need a new consumable to add a burn again. They can be used for any legendary gun and can be a reward for raids, strikes or faction packages again this part can be tweaked. This would 1) solve the problem of people only using a specific primary that drops with a burn since now you can add a burn to any primary you want. 2) bring back one of the cooler parts of year 1 that a lot of people miss. 3) it wold be interesting to see how people use it. You would not want to wast them so you would only want to equip it when it was really necessary.

What variety are you talking about?
-
1 ReplySo many people are saying no because it would make the game too easy. All elemental primaries would do is make stripping shields take 2 seconds less and have them be better during elemental burns. Cutting off some time doesn't make it easier, it makes it more convenient. Having elemental primaries doesn't really matter much during elemental burns as special weapons are used much more often. It would only cut down on add killing time, once again, just being a convenience. Adding elemental primaries back won't make the game easier, it will cut out a miniscule fraction of the time it takes to kill adds that doesn't need to be there.

7 RepliesEdited by AngryMachin: 9/8/2016 10:57:01 AMNah. I like having options rather than getting forced into a box of 4-5 different primaries.
-
I miss having elemental primary weapons because I don't tend to use my secondary or heavy weapon to much in pve so it makes it kind of hard sometimes so would love to have it back
-
It made it so that only elemental primaries we're used (at least mostly). Either all primaries need elemental burn, or none. Maybe a few exotics but I think it's good as is.
-
PvE is too easy with burns on primaries. I am glad they got rid if it.
