It is about damned time! I hope they do this right though!
Full disclosure: I have my own raid team(s) to run the raid with and can raid virtually any time I want. I likely won't use the feature, especially if it is optional matchmaking.
With that stated, I am all for anything that helps remove barriers to accessing content. Sure, it will not be a perfect solution, but nothing in Destiny will ever be perfect. It is a feature that I am sure will work for some, and it may even get more veteran raiders performing the roll of Sherpa for less experienced groups.
Like and bump this post if you think Bungie is doing the right thing by considering matchmaking for raids!

8 RepliesEdited by turdferguson00: 8/28/2016 4:25:47 PMWhy are people being so intentionally ignorant? Why do you all believe it's basic strike matchmaking? Don't you think, just maybe, they haven't implemented mm because such a system would be obviously flawed? If they do decide to finally add mm to raids, it will be robust with the needed systems in place (reputation system, light requirements or even previous completions etc)

9 RepliesI'd possibly jump into a Raid via Match Making if I was bored, but honestly your going to get a miss matched group of people with no mics, no experience and frankly no clue to what your supposed to do and I can say without a doubt people will simply leave out of frustration. On the flip side maybe people will get lucky and groups will form that have done it before and things might go well. I think if filters are in place or some kind of LFG elimination system it could possibly go well, but........ Who knows?

1 ReplyWhat they need to do is bring the whole "Recruitment" section of bungie.net into the game. That will fix the problem.
-
6 RepliesIm not a raid person, was but not anymore since ttk raid for the first time
-
Im fine with it only if they make it optional.
-
3 RepliesI wouldn't like matchmaking because I don't like the chance of joining a bunch of know it all loud mouth squeakers
-
1 ReplyThey need to be considering a new Crucible development team. -=mic drop=-
-
I say MM the old raids, keep the new raids the way they are. The old raids are irrelevant to yr3 players anyways so why not let VoG and CE be MM and we can watch the horror unfold there. Seriously though, it would get some of the newbs the gist of raiding and it won't affect the veteran player base. Its a good compromise I think.
-
3 Repliesone thing they can do is allow options for matchmaking like light lvl, mic, job, weapon, completion, etc. requirements. ive seen it successful with other mmo's even without mics. its not the end of the world as some of you are putting it. calm down.
-
I think it should be like this. L38 easy kings fall full matchmaking and teaches the basic mechanics of the raid and assigns positions. L40 normal 310 light for optional matchmaking and must have x5 completions from L38 L40 heroic 330 light for optional matchmaking you must have x5 on easy and x10 completions on normal The completions must be full not just Oryx checkpoint.

9 RepliesThis is the worst idea ever. LFG right now is a crapshoot. Matchmaking is a horrible idea
-
2 RepliesAs long as it doesn't screw with pre-made teams then go for it.

If you still disagree, try to remember what happens when you attempt the exotic sword strike when no one has a mic[/spoiler]

18 RepliesWorse thing they ever considered. Get on lfg or forums. Do you want a clueless guy clicking on the raid symbol and it being a disaster?
-
109 RepliesI pity all those that are forced to use it. I think i speak for all raiders when i say that if you are too lazy/shy/anti-social/incompetent to use the recruitment section or LFG, i dont want to be stuck in a raid with you. If you can't go and find a raid without Bungie doing it for you then believe me when i say you possess none of the qualities that would allow you to be a successful raider. The end.

Good luck with that, I really think they should keep their server traffic for more useful pursuits.
-
dunno why you think raid matchmaking is a good idea? it's going to be 6 first timers all with no mics and crappy gear. Let me know how that works out for ya.
-
1 ReplyNot sure if this will be good or not. I kinda wish they just added an in game LFG system.
-
I'm in the "This isn't going to work" camp. I can see how some think that it will help but any Raider knows that this idea wont be successful. The people who use the feature will quickly discover that not communicating with randoms (as they're used to) and going in with tourists who are not prepared gear, weapon or light wise will be regrettable. The only good thing I see coming from this is that by facing their social fears and hitting the matchmaking button, they'll be lead to the unavoidable conclusion that LFG sites are a better way to go. I'd be all for an in game LFG system so we could avoid having to search through 3rd parties. Everything people ask about would be visible too. To each their own, but matchmaking isn't going to impress guardians or turn them into raiders.
-
I'm cool with it so long as it isn't blind matchmaking, give us a board in the tower, let us set requirements or preferences, and have the game check for a mic Otherwise it will be a total s-word show

2 RepliesListening to DeeJ on the IGN video podcast a short while ago makes me think that this will never happen. The fireteam chat guys flat out asked about match making and DeeJ gave a definite no, never happen. This makes me sad because this is a game we have all invested into. Time as well as money. I read on the forum (so it must be right...) that only 10% of players have completed the raid and the last poll I saw gave those in favour of optional matchmaking at about 80%. This leads me to think that Bungie do listen but don't give a s**t about the communities views. Personally I don't think that raid matchmaking is the answer. What I would like to see is an in game lfg mechanic where one person hosts the raid. A kiosk where a bunch of guys wanting to do the same activity can be put together without the need to use outside apps, forums or require players to be added onto your psn friends list. The benefit would be that the host still has control over the team and could kick people who are afk or trolling.

Then why not have Multiplayer Lobby instead of MM? Yes I know there is a app for it but it not effective as compared to PC Online Games.

13 RepliesEnforce a SBMM raid deal, I'm down. Mirror raid completions and so forth. Putting a true raider 50 completions with someone at 0 sounds awful.
-
2 RepliesAbout time. Or at least make each section a glorified strike, so people get the gist of the raid. It's only hard if people don't communicate. Many people just need the matchmaker to help them. Cupid's ghost perhaps?
-
15 RepliesOptional mm is a no-brainer.. It's hurts absolutely no one. Just another way to help people play the raid, meet people and eventually not need mm Let's face it, lfg is a pain alot of people will never bother with, all it is is manual matchmaking anyways.. might as well incorporate it into the game
