... awesome
...helping to keep the gaming industry alive
...continuing a great community
...going to have a great time
see you in Felwinter Peak guardians.
Edit 4: I'm putting this at the top of the edits as it's my reply to quite a common comment here. Some people are saying preorders are bad for the gaming industry as it takes away the incentive for Developers to make a good game. They also say that the devs are getting all our money and then just kind of giving up on the project and don't care anymore because they already have our money. My response to this is, Forget about preorders for a second. When a game is released and they make millions of dollars from people buying the game. Does that mean they no longer care, they no longer put money into the game, they ignore the fan base and say hey we have their money now, we don't need to listen to them anymore. No, they don't. They hire people to patch the game, do updates to the game, make new content for the game etc. (this isn't just about Bungie and Destiny btw, I mean ALL developers). Do you really think that the devs want to sell a bad game? You are really really stupid if you think they no longer care bacuase they have your money.
Edit: for those saying this community is not good, don't judge the community based on the forums. A lot of the forums are a horrendous part of the community. Go to places like this to see how good the community really is.
Edit 2: This whole post is in response to this so when I said 'helping to keep the gaming industry alive' I didn't mean that preordering this DLC is single handedly helping keep it alive. I was merely saying the opposite to this guy who thinks it's killing the gaming industry, I don't think it is.
Edit 3: this whole post is in response to this post. I don't actually think pre-ordering is keeping the gaming industry alive. The gaming industry is already alive and it isn't going anywhere, it was just a response to that dumb comment saying pre-ordering is killing the gaming industry.

I'm not preordering purely because I don't want to have anything to do with a lesser version of gjallarhorn. It's white and gold, or its nothing
-
How would pre-ordering a game affect anything? Whether I buy Rise of Irom before, on the day or after its released. I'm still buying it.
-
I am doing it because at the time release happens, I'll be busy.
-
Pre ordered Rise of Iron, waiting for my new heavy and sweet sparrow. 😁

7 RepliesPre ordering games we know are going to bad is what's killing the game industry. It's no diferent than what happend back in 85'. We continue to let companies like bungie and activision treat their communities like sheep by preordering this garbage. It's no different than turning a blind eye to your cheating spouse. Keeping giving your spouse love and sex and they keep doing what they want. Keep giving bungie money for a half shit product then they think they can keep doing it. This is why the gaming industry crashed in 85 amd almost went completly away.

27 RepliesNo... that's wrong. Preordering kills the gaming industry in a sense that it makes future games worse. Once upon a time before most of you 12 year olds were born, pre-ordering was a necessary thing to do when big titles came out. Games could easily be sold out. Now... doesn't really happen anymore. There's bigger stock, more stores which sell games like walmart, electronic ordering via Amazon/ebay and the Xbox/PS store which has unlimited copies. Basically in a nutshell, preordering serves no purpose other than to entice and bribe children with exclusive items to ensure their completely blind purchase. If you go through the effort to preorder a game and lay money down on a game, you're probably going to buy the game when it comes out. You've already payed off part or all of it. They essentially bribe your vote to buy the game by giving away stupid things like the iron gjallarhorn so they ensure they will get your money when it releases. You know nothing or little about how it will play, you just want that stupid exclusive and assume it will be good when a majority of the time games and DLCs don't live up to the hype. The Dark Below and House of Wolves were awful. The Taken King was at least OKAY for most, good and even great for some. But did any of these actually live up to the hype around them? Did Destiny vanilla live up to the hype? Hell no it didn't. Point is, when Bungie sees they are guarenteed atleast 200 million dollars already based off preorders, they don't need to spend more money on production costs because they've already got a guarenteed amount of profit. They could spend another couple million in game design and more content, but why? They don't need to.

Actually you're killing gaming (Activision especially)

1 ReplyDon't preorder, at the very least, wait until the last minute. I am fully convinced that the bean counters at Activision take note when preorder sales are hitting their targets. You are naive if you think that high preorder sales won't lead to complacency. Make them uncomfortable, and you'll be seeing new content, changes you want to see. Otherwise, you're just putting your money down on something that's unfinished. They've done it before. Bungie has made plenty of money on this game, supposedly the A team is hard at work on the sequel, which gives me pause in terms of the quality level of Rise of Iron. The Taken King brought big changes, several memorable missions and strikes, this one has only one strike, no radical system changes. I would be curious when they started work on this, since TTK? We were told that micro transactions would help pay for new content, meanwhile they develop more payed content. Just more of the same Bungie bs. Don't get me wrong, ROI will likely be great, worth the money, but don't just give Bungie your money foolishly, make them earn it.

Edited by Ereaser: 8/24/2016 2:22:11 PM"...helping to keep the gaming industry alive" I disagree, if you pre ordered now you probably would've bought Rise of Iron on release day. "Do you really think that the devs want to sell a bad game? You are really really stupid if you think they no longer care bacuase they have your money." The devs do care, but the corporate managers don't. For them it's all about money, especially in the case of Activision

2 RepliesLol I commented yesterday on my 4 month experience in destiny and how bad this game is with..... Connection/server issues with weak temporary fixes, dull repetitive time consuming grinds, exclusive to console, some of the most horrid rng I've experienced in a game (I play a lot of rpgs, mmos, and even f2p app games have better rng...) and the main thing that probably sealed Destiny's coffin is Actvision. Activision ruins everything it touches... Don't believe me? Look up Activision and I'm sure you'll find a game you once loved turned into dung by Activision. Seriously you'll be suprised by all the games they've touched and ruined..

Preorders are for the publisher jot the developer you aren't lining anyone's pockets but Activision's.

Edited by ZeroCool: 8/24/2016 4:42:07 PMI respectfully disagree. At one point in time, your statements would ring true and most would nod accordingly. However, as money was reaped in by the millions and corporate industry greed crept in, as most sectors Capitalism touchs, it became apparent that sooner or later complacency and lax attitfude would oveerun the market. Further more, adding in "incentives" to get the playerbase to pre-order, resulted in lame, pathetic incentives that really ultimately do nothing. Moving along, we start to see, "exclusives" the ultimate fanboy baitl, which results in a fractured and broken community. You call these benefits? Smh. The whole point is to hit them at their wallet. We, the gamers can and are doing just that. If there is something that we don't agree with, voice your opinion by closing your wallet. I did. I AM NOT PRE-ORDERING ROI. I will, at some point buy it when it is convienant for me. While they will "eventually" get my money, I would have effectively places myself in the aftermarket demographic, a place usually reserved for that last real good scrap in capital after the initial launch and hype die down in the market. Not where they want their playerbase or customers at.

2 RepliesHow many more examples do you need to see ? There are only couple game developers left that we can trust , rest all fall to the 21st century money hunger. You shall never pre order a game without reading any reviews because what is advertised to you is totally a different thing then what you'll get in the end. That is the true reality today

9 RepliesHey bro I see things differently If you pre order rise of Iron or hard on if you want, you're making BUNGIE richer much quicker. You're also buying a game based on not knowing if it's 100 pct working. Based on past experience and the broken crucible which BUNGIE have taken your money already and done nothing to fix those issues voiced by thousands of players, do you really want to give them more money... BUNGIE love promoter players it just adds to their Christmas bonus!
-
I'm not buying Rise of Iron until a full calendar month has past after its release. Destiny cured me of that shit. Nope. I don't pre-order any games any more thanks to Destiny. Now I do the smart thing and wait until the "over-hype-shine" has worn off and some actual objective reviews can be written. If those are good and I like what I see, then I try the game or DLC (whatever it may be). But thanks to the lies Bungie told between what was advertised and the carved up steaming pile that is only now getting all the pieces back, I'm done with pre-orders.
-
1 ReplyAs someone who pre-ordered TTK, I won't be pre-ordering this Iron thing. As of now, the trinkets they are dangling for pre-orders include: - A gaudy black and chrome sparrow that likely isn't any faster than what I already have - A Y3 Gjallarhorn that you must first finish a quest in order to receive Not enough for me to pre-order something that seems to be aiming in a direction my precious little free time doesn't allow me to go.

1 ReplyYou clearly are 8/13 years old.

I was thinking of preordering it, but decided not to on the account of bungie silently changing the time when Xbox players get their timed exclusives. From a business standpoint, I can understand the move. The fine print stated that it "would be available as early as September 2016", "not coming September 2016". However, from a gamers point of view, it's clearly bullshit and, of course, a last minute decision by the higher ups. The timed exclusives will come when Destiny 2 launches (if it launches 2017 and doesn't get pushed back again), making the exclusives irrelevant at that point in time. I'm okay with console exclusive games, but not console exclusive content with multiplatform games.

...a cool heterosexual
-
I pre ordered because I was going to get it anyways. Might as well get some fancy shmancy shit with it.
-
I love Destiny and am going to spend 29.99 regardless, so why not pre-order and get the benefits?
-
2 RepliesI pre-ordered because 1. I have money. 2. I wanted to. 3. Iron Gjallarhorn. And the strike seems really interesting, so does the raid. AND WE'RE FINALLY GETTING AWAY FROM HIVE DLC, THANK THE LORDS ABOVE. I'm tired of the hive, it'll be good to get a bit more in-depth with the Fallen.
-
2 RepliesI already had £15 in my Microsoft account so it only cost me just less than £10 so not bad I must say.
-
I throw money at all things destiny related

2 RepliesLmao great community?
