I'm focusing on casual PvP and not trials when I say this. This is just my opinion, but I honestly believe that the weapons you choose for your load-out are only half the battle to winning in the Crucible. People need to stop crying to Bungie to please nerf everything that kills them. That weapon your opponent is using is not the issue . . . . . you're getting outplayed. I'm not talking about opponents with red bar connections and lag switchers because that's obviously out of your control. It seems like people wanna blindly flock to meta weapons. If I can just get that god rolled whatever then I will be swimming in the W's. Your core first person shooter skills will win you the game. Can you traverse the map fluidly and juke? Are you aware of choke points? Can you predict where the opponents will be based on what control points are capped, who just died etc? Is your aim solid to where you can land consistent headshots? Do you blindly run towards the radar ping? Do you use grenades and equipment effectively? If I constently keep getting killed by Joe Blow using his The Last Word/Longbow combo then guess what? He's outplaying me and every death will be a bit of lesson to me. I've been testing Green and Blue loadouts in the Crucible, and the results have been nearly the same as if I had chosen Legendaries and Exotics to use. I'm an average player but do manage to go positive consistently. Just find weapons that you click with and learn from your mistakes guys. No tears, only fun now.

3 RepliesEdited by : ^ ): 8/15/2016 6:39:30 PMAm I being outplayed when I join in a game where my team has zero fireteams and the enemy team is a fireteam of six and my team is losing by 12k points? Am I being outplayed by the guy who's connection changes more than teenagers change emotions? I can admit to being outplayed, but try playing solo queue. The game for some reason loves to feed you bullshit scenarios. If you play with a team of 5, apparently the game decides to make the game easier for some reason.

s a bit of background I love using shotguns. Jumping into a group of 2 or more and coming out victorious (alive) is good fun. I noticed that there were many times when I rushed into engagements but was just a bit too far away at the outset to close the gap and would get gunned down before I was in shotgun range. I have been really working on my primary game, eyasluna specifically, and forcing midrange engagements with primary weapons. If you MLG quick snipe me, hit me from a flank, or catch me with a fusion good job (frustrating no doubt, but good job). I have found that while I still usually net between 14-20 kills per game, sub-10 death games are more common, which has boosted me kd...at least on my warlock-my kids okay him the least. Also, I think working on you HC game helps when you switch to longer range em weapons like scout rifles that require a little less patience or shot pacing. I find that when I switch back to Mida (need to work on my Jade Rabbit soon) I get kills much quicker because I am getting more head shots die to my practice with HCs (last step of imprecation with 7 HC headshot kills with a marshmallow shooter). Want to get better, practice killing with your primary and setting up engagements that give you the edge. One effective tactic that I use with HCs or any gun really is lobbing a grenade at a doorway where my opponent is coming from. If I kill him with it great, but all I really want is to take shield/health down for a quick primary kill. Grenades that pulse several times are great as you can catch a couple people successively, 1-2 headshot a and they are dead. Move to setup the next engagement.

My buddy recommended reading this. It is very helpful, so I figured I'd put it here. I'm certain lots of people have already seen and read that but it can't hurt to share.

1 ReplyI'm an actual casual player and I'm not sure if you're a casual player too, but clearly you don't know jack. You wanna know why people use these "meta" weapons? It's because they are easier to use to nab kills. That's it. Not that they require "skill", but simply because they are easier to handle, aim or shoot under certain conditions. Last Word? Easy to get kills with at close to mid range. Mida? Snaps in a whole lot better than your average scout. Getting beat down by a guy on a Phantom spree using only First Curse and throwing knives is one thing, but it all comes down to a simple gap for your average players. A gap between the sweaties/tryhards and the casuals. Not skill, but how badly you want to win and the means that you will take to get it.

5 RepliesYou're not being outplayed when it's a massacre at the hands of Laggatron and the Connecticons.

10 RepliesYou made a post about something you have no idea about.. That is adorable..

Sill seeing ppl blame lag. Yo...if youre lagging cause of someone on the other team....so are ya team mates. And if they can manage it and still play positive then the only reason you cant...once again....is you got outplayed

I just won a comeback rumble game with monte carlo(y1) and my new 1kys (awful sights sightys) because it was a map i was really comfortable on and could predict by the radar where the enemy was I even turned on a person shooting me in thw back and killed him

14 RepliesSooo by this you mean to tell me everyone was getting outplayed by vex and thorn before the nerfs ? Doctrine didn't -blam!- up your aim ? ice breaker was fine in trials ?Etc etc .....

Edited by Annihilator_HD: 8/15/2016 6:16:52 PMYou're trash and not even an average player. Average players shouldn't even come here to give rules to people on how to play the game right. I personally know when I'm getting outplayed or when I'm getting straight trolled by bungoo OP meta. Kids these days...

Out-lagged* no thanks needed....

Mythoclast never needed a nerf everyone was just getting outplayed. gg 10/10 stupid post

I dont care if its considered meta or not but i love the Mida MT, i used to love the thorn before it was nerfed. Im not a hardcore crucible player but I know I play better using the Mida over any other primary. And yes ive tried several weapons

Don't rage, makes it harder to concentrate.

7 RepliesThen explain to me why everyone uses the same few weapons...... (No offense)

I get out played all the time. Tis the reason I'm single.
-
It's literally impossible to outplay me, the only reason I lose is because of hackers and lag. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...
-
Is jade rabbit the meta? I don't think so. Tried uni and mida and even tlw. Not my style. Now I just need the shotgun that fits me.

Connection speed, and the ability to manipulate it, determines the outcome of nearly every battle in this game. I will take statements like yours seriously when Destiny 2 employs dedicated servers and the latency becomes minimized. Until then, I will accept defeat when I have been outplayed and know when I have been defeated by latency. Thanks for playing, though...

I would say weapon choice isn't even half the battle. If you know your gun, knowing it's effective range and are comfortable using it, then it can be every bit as effective as whatever the flavor of the month weapon is. If you can't or won't look inward after a loss and ask yourself "what can I personally do to prevent this" then you'll never improve. Sometimes you're just S.O.L. with a bad team, but you can't control them so there's no point blaming them. The only element you can directly affect is yourself.

To further expand on this, I find that on days where I'm calm and relaxed I actually tend to laugh when I die and either mentally or (to myself) acknowledge how well the other person did. These are the days when I am at my best performance-wise as well. On the contrary when I'm a bit tired or irritated my performance not only suffers, but I get angry and frustrated with every kill, causing me to play more repetitively and predictably which in turn gets me killed more frequently. So think when you die. Is it really unfair that a shotgun user killed you at melee range while you were using a sniper and scout rifle or did they simply outplay you by taking advantage of your divided attention and close the range between you to put them at an advantage? Did that sniper you were trading shots with have too much motion tracking, or could he have simply noticed that you kept stepping out to the same spot to take your shots and adjusted his aim appropriately? Mindset has everything to do with victory, and the ability to be think tactically, acknowledge your opponents skills, and learn from your mistakes is the key to success in both Raids and Crucible. :) (Except for red bars. They're stupid. Go get wreckd red bars)

I have apparently poked a beehive with a stick voicing my opinion, but then again that's how it always goes. I have always been anti-meta and liked challenging myself to get good with "inferior" weapons. That's just who I am. I will however retract my statement of "weapons you choose for your loadout make a minimal difference" to "weapons you choose for your loadout are only half the battle to winning in the Crucible."
