Just to get this out of the way, I am on ps4. I completely agree with leaving legacy consoles.
The thing is, I felt like as soon as bungie made the decision to leave last gen behind it should of immediately been public knowledge out of respect of legacy owners.
I felt like they didn't want to hurt sales so they stayed quiet. If legacy players knew that ROI was the end for them would they pay for emotes or any other transactions involving the game? Probably not.
I some what understand why legacy players feel screw.
I also understand that this was going to happen at some point.
I just don't understand why bungie still didn't give a heads up sooner.

What I'm getting is that as soon as they revealed Rise of Iron, they also revealed who was getting it and who was getting HERDED ONTO A FRIGGIN' ICEBERG AND CAST ADRIFT IN AN ENDLESS FRIGID OCEAN OF APATHY AND REJECTI... ah, I mean not getting it. I apologize about that unseemly remark... I really do understand it was a business decision for them. They wanted to enhance the Destiny experience for the majority of the players, and the only way they could do that was to BETRAY THEIR LOYAL LEGACY PLAYERS AND HURL US SCREAMING INTO A HOWLING VOID OF DARKNE... ah, sorry, I meant to say only offer the new content to people with nextgen consoles. In their defense, they gave us several months. Months to prepare, and to evaluate our situations, decide whether we wanted to move on to another game, or accept a more limited Destiny experience with out legacy consoles, or SELL OUT AND SUCK UP TO THE CASH-SUCKING GAMING INDUSTRY BY BLOWING OUR CHILDREN'S COLLEGE FUNDS ON A FANCY NEW PIECE OF TECHNO-JUN... ah, sorry, upgrade to a nextgen console.

1 ReplyI doubt they knew. Having worked in software development for longer than most of you have been alive, I have seen this before. These things sneak up on an organization. They go along supporting something and at the same time realize it might be a future problem. But current issues override future problems. Then all of a sudden, some new feature or other software change makes it a current problem and they have to stop support. Companies are not evil empires of conspiracy that many think. They can be inept, lack planning and generally just react to things as they come up in real time. That's they way it is from my experience.

A bungo employee triped and got the papers mixed up

Its a commercial decision. They would have looked at the figures and worked out they would make a loss. At the end of the day they have to make money they don't do it for love.

4 RepliesI switched from PS3 to PS4 approximately June of 2015 because I knew last gen support would be dropped at some point. I had read this somewhere at some point prior to upgrading. That info was out there somewhere, though I can't exactly recall where. As I understood it, the game was made for current gen but Activision forced Bungie to make it for last gen to of course maximize profit because there were still many who hadn't upgraded at that point and it was made clear to me that Destiny would only be on last gen for its first installment. I don't get why so many people seem shocked, when the info was out there but perhaps it wasn't as public as I thought.

3 RepliesUpon purchase, did you gamers really think you were gonna play a ten yr game (was announced of this plan from get-go) on the same console for a decade? Walk it off! Hell PS5 may be out as little as two freakin years! Technology is moving incredibly fast in the last few years.

You don't understand because you aren't the one making the decision.

1 ReplyDestiny looked piss ugly in beta on the Xbox 360. I played it on both systems so my sister could check it out. The real question is how could people play a horrible looking game on last gen? Seriously, it's UGLY!

3 RepliesThey got a 2 to 3 months notice. How much more do you want? This decision was probably very hard for Bungie to make so they didn't annouce it until they had most of RoI finalized. If RoI wasn't finalized, they could of annouced that RoI would be coming to all consoles but then later on realized that they'll have to limit parts of RoI to do that. Bottom line, they gave plenty of warning and if the dlc wasn't finished or mostly finished, they shouldn't make a drastic annoucment like is availability on certain consoles

2 RepliesThey attempted to make Rise of Iron work on legacy consoles, and it didn't without cutting out a significant portion of current content. Once they finalized the fact that they couldn't get around memory limitations, the announcement was made.
-
2 RepliesThey announced it over a month ago...that's pretty long
-
1 ReplyThey needed to suck your bank account dry

4 RepliesI personally don't think they were planning on supporting original Destiny this far into the cycle so unfortunately legacy had to get sh*t on.

They should have constructed the game with all consoles in mind and gave them all equal shares of the game. Or at the very least pull a soul calibur 2. From the beginning people blamed legacy for the lack of a better game. Instead of seeing their mistakes they joined in with the blame . My favorite was vault space. I honestly am not bothered by it. I play enough and enjoy what I got.

5 RepliesA heads up really? Ps3 owners were lucky they got a version at all. The writing was on the wall from day one.
-
4 RepliesIt was 100% about money. They wanted to get as much out of ps3/xbox360 players as they could before telling them. Just another reason why bungie continues to lose customers
-
They took old gen money to make this game successful and now have pulled a bait and switch. Game should never have been offered on old gen. Yes, its business but getting screwed like this is never fun.
-
They were busy with your mom. Next question.

5 RepliesEdited by cliffmoney: 8/1/2016 10:36:27 PMWho's to say they wouldn't want those emotes when they upgrade their console or get a current gen console for Christmas or something? I just don't see what everyone is getting so upset about, and this is coming from someone who still needs to upgrade to current gen.
