The only propose of a gun is to kill. That is what it was designed to do. that is what people use them to do. Why should you have the right to kill someone? What gives you right decide when someone lives and when someone dies? People can protect themselves without guns. There are non lethal ways of neutralizing and attacker. IE : tasers and pepper spray.
After the Australian gun ban gun related felonies dropped and so did overall crime rate after and small spike. Does Australia violate human rights and oppress its people?
no
Guns do not kill people but any one with a gun can. We cannot remove crazy people but we can get rid of guns. Although background check do help they are not always done properly or at all.

10 RepliesThere's no point in abolishing weapons of any kind. In Japan there was just a violent knife killing. 15 people dead, and something like 45 wounded. They aren't allowed to have guns, and these public attacks still happen, even if they're rare, they happen. And if we abolish the second amendment, people will kill, no matter what it takes. Even if it means fists, bats, sticks, knives, and anything else that can harm. Banning guns won't stop mass killings. People will simply turn to the black market or another weapon to use.

Edited by BagelBro123: 7/26/2016 8:37:14 AMThis is what happens when people give computers to 10 year old girls. I mean, really guys? We cant just hand them out to everyone!
Also, I understand you aren't smart enough to understand this now, but hopefully, when you get older, you can get this- All throughout human history, man has been presented with the two options of kill or be killed. Man, fearing for his life, takes the kill option. And if you are so -blam!-ing worried about what a shooter is going to do, think about what happens if someone is smart enough to get guns off the black market. But of course, you didn't think of that did you. Because why would someone who wants to kill a bunch of people just decide to stop because they cant get a gun legally? Simple. They wouldn't. They would buy guns ILLEGALLY. So taking away the weapons of civilians isn't really helping anybody
2 RepliesMaking something illegal does not prevent someone from acquiring and using it. People don't go on mass shootings simply because they acquire a gun. They already intended on doing it. I agree that some restrictions are necessary. We already have some in place. Banning them is the worst idea though.

2 RepliesEdited by Zeldasavvy64: 7/26/2016 3:44:36 AMBut people aren't getting guns from stores where the crime happens. That's why background checks don't always work. Their getting them illegally. All gun control does is prevent ordinary citizens from protecting themselves with firearms. If you want proof, look at Chicago or Detroit. Edit: And you're right. Guns don't kill people, but people with guns can. However, people with motorized vehicles, knives, even pens or pencils can kill when they have malicious intents.

4 RepliesIf you think about it killing each other is something humans as a species has always done ever since the first caveman beat the other with a rock. Guns are just another means to an end and while tragic no different than any other. Take them away and people are just gonna use something else like the mass stabbing that just occurred in Japan or a bombing. We have even seen mass casualties via vehicle, then what will you take away cars? Instead of removing just one of many tools shouldn't we look more towards education, advocation, surveillance, and other ways to prevent mass violence and protect ourselves

Legal guns can save lives If a single person had a gun at any of the recent attacks they might have been able to stop the massacres. Criminals have guns either way Strengthen the 2nd ammendment for citizens with clean background checks

19 RepliesI don't think you understand the purpose of the second amendment.

4 RepliesDont forget using a gun isnt only for shooting other people! a lot of people use if for alot of other reasons, I will post 3 below from the top of my head. feel free to list more below if you guys want -Shooting For Fun: Shooting at a firing range is a way people have fun! it also releases stress for some people. -Collecting: Collecting rare guns that not a lot of people do at gun shows. -Hunting: I honestly hope i dont have to explain this. but let me know if I do(I do this)

There was a mass stabbing in japan... ban knives!!!

If we ban guns in America, they can still be smuggled in illegally from Mexico. Australia is its own island/continent so they can control what comes in and out easier, unlike the U.S.

1 ReplyIf people don't have a gun, they'll find something else. If someone is going to kill someone, they WILL find a way.

2 Replies"But guns are designed to kill". The same gun that can be used to commit a murder can be used to save yourself, or someone else, from being murdered. "But muh australia". Guns are not necessary for mass killings just like gasoline is not necessary to burn down a building. France, despite gun control galore, has had multiple mass shootings recently and just had a guy murder 84 people with a truck. A truck. Are we going to ban trucks? Waiting periods for trucks? Come on. How about japan? How many people were just killed in a mass stabbing? Are we gonna come for steak knives some day? Also, defensive gun use is a thing that happen anywhere from 700,000 to 3,000,000 times annually. According to at least 12 studies. It stands to reason that while "gun crimes" may have gone down in australia they have simultaneously done a hell of a job neutering citizens ability to defend themselves and their homes.

Edited by MacSalad: 7/26/2016 10:10:55 PMProhibition gave us Al Capone. What would happen if you banned guns? I'm not going to pretend to know. I would venture to guess that those who want guns would be able to purchase them anyway. At a much higher price though making the people who sell them that much more rich and powerful. I imagine with demand and being able to make huge profits Mexican drug cartels would become even more heavily involved in the illegal arms trade. Illegal or not criminals and terrorists would have access to firearms anyway. Those are the people you have to worry about. I would say that most people who go through the process to legally purchase a firearm are not doing so to commit a crime. In summary banning guns will most likely not remove guns from American society and will not solve the problem. Edit: as I mentioned this is just my opinion and merely a possibility.

Did you ever hear about this magical thing called The Black Market? No? Didn't think so.
-
1 ReplyYes let's get rid of guns. It provides a safe working environment for criminals.
-
Do you have any idea why the second ammendment exists in the first place? Also do you know humans are made to coexist and not just to slaughter one another? There are reasons to remove guns from irresponsible and mentally unstable people. But to say all people should not be allowed to own guns is flat out ignorant.
-
You don't have the right to kill. Murder is illegal. But you have the right to defend yourself from murderers. There's 320m people in America. You're never going to rid guns from criminals. It's funny how leftists call for gun control, but hate the police. Hello? The second amendment's primary goal is against the tyrannical state lmao. How can you trust the state to protect you when....you don't trust the state? You people make no sense whatsoever.

I am open to have an intelligent conversation
No you aren't.

1 ReplyAnd yet you seek to effectively point guns at us because you've decided what we can and cannot own.

12 RepliesEdited by WartyBean39438: 7/27/2016 1:07:07 PMFirst off I'd like to say that this right here is the end result of gun control. We go from banning a few guns to banning alot of guns to banning all guns. Secondly criminals, radicals, and terrorists do not care about laws. So whether you ban guns or not, people who want to do bad things with guns are going to do bad things. The laws restricting or absolutely banning guns only hurt the law abiding citizen. And finally, the Second Ammendment ensures that if the government over steps their powers (think V for Vendetta or even Hunger Games) the American people will be able to rebel against their government and restore the power to the people. America is the freest country the world has ever seen due to mainly five reasons . One reason is the fact that since America's founding, the governed ruled America instead of the government. Secondly, Americans have always been willing to pay the ultimate price to defend our freedoms. Thirdly, our Constitution guarantees us more rights and liberties than any other nation in the world. Fourthly, our very principles and laws as a nation were founded on christian principles and values. And fifthly, armed Americans have always been at the ready to serve their country if need be. Whether it be defending our nation from invasion, or rebelling against a tyrannical government, armed Americans will always be prepared. Armed Americans will always be ready.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson
Edited by Savage Coconut: 7/27/2016 4:20:03 PMGod, I wanna say this is a joke, but sadly there's many people that think like this. Good thing is you're most likely under 18 & not allowed to vote for anything.
