I'm sure there are people out there who are deadly with the Hunter's throwing knives. Maybe enough to call it an unfair advantage to be called a "one hit kill".. I get that, but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always.. Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒.. Then I start to pull my hair out and demand it to be a one hit kill.
I get the balance issues.. But let's take the Hunter for what it is.. Weaker than the other class by design. Uses its agility to traverse the battle field with stealth and quickness its strongest allies. The Hunter has not shield if any sort.. (If I'm wrong, please tell me so I can equip it as soon as possible) I'm not complaining 99% of the time.. I'm playing the damn game. I enjoy this game, I want it to be fun. But it's not fun when I'm trading with a Warlock in and out of cover and they already have a shield that I chew up (with my dis 43) plus a little chunk of their health bar.. I pop out of cover to throw a knife, it lands solid upper torso.. I wait.. No kill, fight still on. So I attack, I rush with almost full health turn the corner get only to be melee'd and turn into particles red matter.. It was a good time for a break anyways.
That happened about 25 minutes ago.. I mean.. Really?.. I'm throwing a foot long dagger that has to be calculated almost perfectly with the distance and elevation required to get a headshot.. I hope you guys care, it's not worth it to commit to throw the knives if you know they have no reward. It's the hardest melee to learn with the least benefit. That's not fun. Take another look at the gunslinger's throwing knives.. Thank you. Delta

I'm sad for the Hunters, they really jacked that class up something fierce. It's noticeable when fighting the 10min over shielded shoulder charging Titan (my god when titans lag, that's what nightmares are made of) vs fighting the jumpy ass Hunters. Signed, Warlock
is flame shield a ohk?
ok you're dumb and I know where this is going. I'm gonna quit listening
-
Throwing knives were never 1 hit unless you hit a 0 armor guardian and had the burn on, which almost nobody uses. I've never 1hk anybody with a throwing knife and have mained gunslinger since yr 1. Now I'm lucky if my throwing knife kills a wounded guardian with a headshot half the time. I also love how my trip mines spin in circles and do 3 damage when you "stick" somebody with one. They have successfully turned gunslinger into a shadow of its former self.
-
I do wish the would get a nice PvE buff, that's where they're absolutely useless
-
The only buff the knife needs is to have a nearly instantaneous ready up time before/after the melee. Once extended range storm caller gets nerfed, and it will, that would leave the knife as the longest consecutive melee ability and make it a great finisher/opener in exchange for its lower aim assist.

They were nerfed to quiet a crying PvP crowd, even if it wasn't what they were crying about. Imagine you have a baby, and it's hungry. It starts to cry.. You either give it a bottle with milk (what the community wants) or shove an empty bottle in its mouth. Either way, it'll stop crying for long enough to get your life together.

6 RepliesThey're still pretty good, I shut down a nova bomb with a knife a few days ago. My problem isn't the fact that they were nerfed it's the shoddy reasoning we were given for them being nerfed. The claim was that their damage allowed burn to ohk yet they didn't do anything to the perk they said was an issue. I believe all of those changes in the last patch was simply an effort to reduce the effect of hunters across the board without them saying it flat out. It worked for the most part but bladedancer still sits on top of crucible (statistically) so we may see more "changes" soon.

Throwing knives are practically the same as before. Get a headshot with a good impact HC, throwing knife to the head, rinse and repeat. Its that simple. Also, never compare shoulder charge to a standard melee. SC cant ever practically be used like a normal melee
-
In all truth, the knives hit very strongly, but it's just the incendiary perk that blows hard. The fact that you can't keep the burn dot after dying is complete bs, let alone that it was weakened.
-
Boi i love throwing knives as they are, if you have decent damage to an enemy already u can kill them with a knife, why in the world do they need to be 1 hit to the face.
-
I still get a good amount of kills with my throwing knife, sure it isnt as ridiculous as before, but still a viable option.
-
There are two reasons that throwing knives will never one hit kill with headshots. The first is that you do not have to aim those things very well. They help you aim immensely. The second is that the perk that refunds throwing knives on headshot kills would be pretty stupid. While giving them enough damage to one hit with flaming knives would fix that second issue, you can still stack strength and get double knife charges and be stupidly op.
-
I main a Hunter. I usually go into PvP in Bladedancer, but now and then, I run Gunslinger. I didn't have an issue with the throwing knife killing people before, and I don't have an issue with it killing people now. I use it as a finisher. Not as a normal or panic melee. I just don't believe they're meant to act like a straight kill. That would be a op.

1 ReplySad but true, its because Warlocks don't use them. Everything in this game is designed around the needs of warlocks.
-
Um, first off, when have the throwing knives been a one hit kill in PvP? Not once have I seen a throwing knife, burn or not, kill a full-health, full-shielded Guardian with a headshot. IIRC, the grenades and throwing knives of the Gunslinger are supposed to "prepare for a kill" with a weapon.

I get that, but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always.. Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒..
Let's see here, blink strike is bugged, and bungie has no idea how to fix it, shoulder charge isn't a charged melee, and scorch hasn't been a one hit since bungie directly nerfed the ability to one hit while under the effect of radiance. Since then it has never been able to one hit, especially now since the DoT nerf as well.
-
44 RepliesCompletely agree. No one was complaining that throwing knives were unbalanced. I understand that Bungie wanted to make the other options more viable, but they failed to do that completely. Both alternate options require a precision throwing knife kill...with out you dying when it happens. That means if you throwing knife that shoulder charging Titan in the head and trade kills with him, you don't get your throwing knife back (or extra super energy). Considering that all other classes have easy to use melee abilities, the throwing knife should actually be stronger since you need precision aim to land it, unlike a Stormcaller. And on top of weakening that melee ability of the slowest class in the game, (yes, Warlock gliding and Titan skating are much faster), Bungie also screwed up the burn damage from Incendiary grenades. Now a perfectly thrown grenade at someone's feet will only get them weak. Overall, Bungie has really screwed over Gunslinger's. We have weak grenades, weak melee, and are the slowest in the game.
-
The Sunsinger melee only "one hit kills" during Radiance.
-
19 RepliesYou can shot one bullet of a hand cannon to the body and finish the kill with just one knife before anything else kills you or reach you with a melee or shoulder charge. No other class can do that. Of course it requires more skill than anything else in this game. Like everything when it comes to hunters.
-
2 RepliesThrowing knives seem ok even after the nerf, even with all this complaining recently I've never seen anyone address the one problem with them. Incendiary blade sometimes doesn't trigger the burning effect and it's really annoying, surely I'm not the only one who's noticed this?
-
31 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 7/23/2016 12:10:07 AMKnife Juggler and Gambler's Dagger would make OHK knives completely overpowered. Let's be real, here. If you get used to the trajectory of throwing knives, landing precision hits isn't THAT big of a challenge, especially when players are determined to get up close to hit you with shotguns and Shoulder Charge. When there's the potential for OHK's, Hunters would make strategies out of chaining instant kills with a self-regenerating throwing knife that comes with a spare in case you miss. Add a high strength stat on top of that and now you risk breaking the game. Sorry, Juliet. I think there's ways to improve the knife, but OHK's aren't the answer.
-
Hahahaha, these "one hit kills" aren't.
-
I read the first paragraph. I was laughing too hard to read the rest.
-
3 RepliesHell no! You dint want again to nerf the hunter! Keep as it is and train and become goos!
-
6 RepliesYou throw a puny knife at a full kevlar / metal helmet, what did you expect would happen?
