Package RNG can't be this bad
Hello destiny community, how's it going. I'm going to cut straight to the point here, I have gotten to a point at which I can no longer believe that I am just unlucky, or RNGesus is against me. I am not sure of the numbers exactly so I will give an approximation of how many packages I have opened, about 30-40 vanguard packages, and probably close to 80-90 crucible packages. I have yet to receive either a Longbow Synthesis, or an LDR 5001 from either, I have not even received a Zombie Apocalypse for that matter. There is a 1 in 22 chance in both the vanguard and crucible packages to get an LDR or Longbow. I gave up hope a long time ago but I can't believe that my RNG is that bad, curious if anyone else has this issue, or better yet if bungie can clarify if any of the guaranteed rewards have a greater drop rate because I swear It feels like I have gotten more armor pieces from packages then I have anywhere else.
Thanks for giving me your time, let me know if any of you are having this issue.
P.S. Please do not reply saying you have gotten "so many it's gotten annoying" or that "you have a bunch, but none have good rolls," that will only make people angry.

My combined Vanguard Rank across my characters is nearly 300 I still don't have a Shadow Price Oh yes it can be this bad

That sounds like my time with Dead Orbit on the Hunter. I've gone through around 50some packages and I've gotten Scout Rifles, Helmets, LOTS OF GAUNTLETS AND FUSION RIFLES, a few boots, and a few sniper rifles. THAT'S IT. This current loot system is BROKE, man. It's broke.

I have opened a similar amount of packages and have not had a single longbow or LDR drop... or a shadow price! The crucible/vanguard packages are some of the worst RNG this game has ever had. And the fact that even if you do get one of these guns to drop, the chance your gonna get a decent roll on it is so small because bungie has diluted the loot pool so much with useless perks makes it extremely discouraging! It definitely needs to change!

I wish I could give you all of the LDRs I have in my vault right now... I got Longbow Synthesis and Zombie Apocalypse last weekend playing Trials Of Osiris.And I wasn't even trying to get them either.So if you try not to get something, usually not always you will get it. RNGesus is a b**** sometimes.

Rng is is bad. It needs to recognize previous drops so you don't get the helmet 4 ranks in a row like I did last week with the vanguard.

I'm not even kidding And while I don't play crucible, I find it believable that with 11 packages I have only Lord high fixers[i](thanks gaiden13[/i]), with god awful perks. Also, where you exaggerating on 80-90 crucible packages?

It was actually one of my first legendary drops of 2014. Made me turn my head. Fwc machine gun has same stats as zombie apocalypse. I seem to get choleric dragon an aweful lot. Seen ash factory drop in a match today. Nice.

Lol I feel so bad... I've gotten a shadow price with a decent role, a grim citizen 3 which is ok, and a longbow which is the og sniper god

I just get armor I already have most of the time. As far as faction packages go, I've been pretty lucky getting ships and shaders.

You know what's strange though is that in my case before the April update came out I made sure all my characters were almost ranked up in both vanguard and crucible so that's 6 packages right. I came online and opened all of them right after the update came out from those 6 packages I got a good roll on a shadow price, grim citizen, and lord high fixer, with the other package being a bad zombie apocalypse and something else. Anyways compared to my usual luck getting that lucky is extremely unusual and strange. This leads me to believe that for each person things are weighted to drop a certain way. Maybe even a tiny bit like minecraft where you can put in a seed number into the world generation and it will always create the world the same way when you load it. For example every time I get a gun with mulligan it almost always also has partial refund.

Similar to me, fellow Guardian, I have done 120 Crucible Ranks with no Two to the Morgue in sight. It's the only thing I want.

I know just how you feel. Similar number of vanguard packages across all 3 characters and nothing except one LDR... I don't even snipe! I just want a badger...

mine is worse, i have opened about 200 total packages [spoiler] that is vanguard AND crucible[/spoiler] and have gotten NO year 1 weapons aside from the devil you know and bad rolls [spoiler]ALL 3 TIMES[/spoiler]yeah... 3 times, sorry bud but your luck is just as bad as mine...

3 RepliesEdited by Mar: 7/18/2016 9:16:00 PMthe RNG in destiny is real screwy, it has been since launch in every part of the game not just the rep packages. people have been trying to figure it out and no one can seem to narrow down exactly how it works. but it is not a clean % chance to drop. look at all the year 1 gally stories, people would go months on end without seeing anything and then get 1 and then get 3-5 more within a week of the 1st. something is weird with the number crunching. if i had to guess from what i've seen and heard, its something like despite the % drop rates other things are weighted to show up more often regardless of the percentage. so as a example say the LDR has a 25% drop chance from packages, vanguard armor has a 30% drop chance (each) and current year vanguard weapons have a chance 30% (each), and then cosmetic stuff (embles shaders ships etc) has a 15% chance , the game seems coded to instead of using flat % rates to stack them in weird tiers or something. so that it would go "ok so lets see, vanguard armor and Y2 weapons take priority, lets roll on the armor (assume it fails), ok lets roll on the weapons (assume it also fails) now lets roll on cosmetic items (assume it fails), ok! NOW lets roll on the old weapons". so even though it may have a 1 in 20-ish chance of getting one its actually less than that because that chance is only rolled on by RNG IF every other possible loot roll fails. at least that is my theory. could be horribly wrong. no one knows, and bungie sure ain't going to tell anyone how the in game RNG works so its all just guess work. one thing is for sure though, something is strange about it.

I feel ya champ. Prob at 30 packages and 3 longbows all heinous sights tho which really is what matters. Majority are armour. Even rerolling I find my RNG is pathetic TBH

1 ReplyI'm rank 104 on Hunter 58 on warlock And 47 on Titan Warlock and Titan were rank 6 or below and Hunter was 18 before April I've gotten 5 longbows (3 really good rolls), but not a single damn lord high fixer
