Trials Of Osiris, was a place for teams to compete in elimination against other teams to try and get prizes and 9-0 cards. Where honestly people had a chance to win with a decent amount of skill. People would team up and work together and no quit. Now it's turned into nothing but Twitch streamers carrying, lack of SBMM or CBMM, and breeds an insurmountable amount of hate and hostility towards each other as players. The numbers don't lie there has been a significant drop in new people making it to the light house. It's a consistent same "Sweaties/tryhards" who smash anyone in their path to make it to the lighthouse and then continue to do it for fun. You have people PAYING MONEY to get carried to the light house cause it's so hard to do now with the way it's set up. Year 2 trials is an absolute horrid monster and needs to be slain. Now with this Destiny Trials Reports people are being SHUNNED by others for ELO and stats, and you, Bungie!, who nerfed Gjallarhorn because you didn't like the divide in the community have SHOWCASED this cancer that destroys the community more than anything else you've done to the game has. Trials is no longer fun. It's no longer a challenge. It's a horrible slog that it near impossible to reach the end. SBMM/CBMM is non existent factor that should be implemented as players who have struggled to get where they are go against people who have a breeze to get to the same win and then the players who struggled are knocked back down to peg one to start over or get lagged out. Trials is no longer a friendly community rivalry game mode but a place where people can make money? It's corrupt and breeds hate amongst player base. The top stay at the top while the bottom cannot move up at all. Please fix trials. Go back to Year 1 or make a better formula. Trials is not where you want it to be, and you cannot let it get worse. Please fix Trials.
EDIT: Wasn't aware that SBMM wasn't included in Trials. Which is kinda of dumb as again being a team who struggled to get to 5 wins playing against a team who had a breeze getting to 5 wins is still bad.
EDIT 2: Not attacking streamers who stream the game, moreso streamers who get paid to carry/carry in general. You're ruining the game mode even more by carrying.
EDIT 3: A bracketed rank would be more than ideal as that's how pretty much every other shooter does with their "competitive" game modes, thank you to people in the comments posting their ideas, I appreciate it a lot. And to the people who are against this, all I have to say is "why?" Why would you be against more players having a chance? What's wrong with that? If you're good now, that's not going to change. It'll still be "hard" as you claim it should be. It'll just be a more personalized challenged to you and your team. So why are you against it? You say you're amazing and that it's supposed to be hard and challenging and "not meant for everybody" but how is it hard when you face a lot of teams not even close to you? Scared that when push comes to shove you'll fold? Just wondering tbh...
EDIT 4: Never said I personally could not make it to 5 wins. That was used as an example as to why the playing against someone with the same wins isn't as fair as you'd think. And by the way, artificial difficulty, isn't a challenege. It isn't competitive, it's something you're making up to be hard to justify it. Again there is NO reason you should be against changing trials for everyone. The game is 2 years old with the final expansion on its way. It's not a hardcore game in any sense of the word, just let everyone have a chance to get to the light house, and as someone commented below "the real scrubs will fail regardless". Also btw, saying that its supposed to be hard and not for everyone, but then saying carries are okay, should probably leave the post cause you're being very hypocritical. Also this "practice practice practice" mentality isn't always the answer. If you can't even have a chance to put what you've learned to the test and see where you went wrong, Again there is absolutely NO REASON for you to be against this. Even if you don't like SBMM then even CBMM would be better.
EDIT 5: Forget to mention something. The current meta, i.e HROF Pulses or Autos/Snipers for the most part. Before in Trials, I could use almost any weapon I wanted to as long as it wasn't complete trash, Suros, Red Death, maybe an Invective for fun. Maybe a slow hand cannon with high impact, you get where I'm going with this. You could have weapon diversity and again, compete. You're competing with other people with YOUR personal favorite guns and set up. But now it's the same everywhere. The meta is also currently killing trials slowly, what happened to really testing your mettle with the weapons and set up you bonded with? Why does the new meta have to be the new meta. Is your chant of "git gud" also "get the same weapons everyone else is using" ? This isnt' going away for three days straight this post has gotten attention from a LOT of people. Keep replying for or against, whatever. This WILL get noticed by Bungie, and WE WILL as a COMMUNITY seek changes.
-
I can almost bet you that Bungie WILL make a change to ToO with ROI DLC. The change is that it will be harder to go flawless, just the way I like it!
-
I agree that Y1 was way better than Y2, but I think it's largely due to the meta shift for me. In Y1 we had primaries (thorn, hopscotch pilgrim) strong enough to compete with snipers along with how powerful shotguns were, people weren't forced to snipe. Now that enough other weapons have been watered down, snipers become by and far the best special for trials, especially with changes to reviving players. The trials play style has gotten boring and tedious. It's usually try and win a sniper fight or wait for the timer to run down so the enemy team actually has to come out of their sniper corners. No thanks, I'll stick to 6v6 now where I can actually have some interesting interactions with my opponents. Went flawless 3x every week in Y1, did it once in Y2 and called it good.
-
I just heard a pastor say, " a trial is a tunnel, and the only way out a tunnel is thru it" If bungie has this mind frame, then trials won't change, and I'm switching to sniper so these hoes can feel my pain .
-
I hated trials, never really good at pvp. Once I got a team that 2 on the other side leafy so the last guy can solo a match, and he almost won! Yeah screw competitive stuff like trials, I'd rather just stick to regular crucible and hope for legendaries.
-
I have an idea for Bungie: why do you not profiteering from this carry streamers charge them with silver :) First run until reach the lighthouse free Every carry/help run need buying silver :))))))))
-
9 RepliesI will never understand this whiny attitude. They are better than you are because they played the game more and practiced to become better. So why cater to you when they put the time in? Makes no sense
-
14 RepliesThis "lockout" suggestion is the most pathetic thing i have heard. Why should people not be allowed to play a game mode because they have already gone flawless? Completed the raid this week and want to help your mates beat oryx? Too bad, locked out. Want to join a mate for iron banner but already rank 5? Too bad locked out. Want to help a mate get that black spindle? Too bad -blam!-er you are locked out. See how pathetic this sounds?
-
2 RepliesI had no input before last night because I haven't played trials. Now, however, I can confirm that EVERY team my friends and I faced was one or two guys that sucked and two or one guys that were insane and obviously carrying. After 3 wins that is. Before 3 it's pretty fair but once you get 3 I guarantee it's only carries.
-
Never done ToO... never plan to. From day 1 it was a sweaty event that only re-inforced playing over and over until you went flawless. That alone is pathetic. But it's Bungie's way to get you addicted to the rewards. Bad design... bad all the way.
-
im with u of course, but actually with this kinda conditions bungie should remove pvp. this part of the game is already broken since a lot
-
16 RepliesLove this post I'm glad someone is saying what most of us day 1 players are thinking
-
Well said. Trials is cancer
-
5 RepliesYear 1 trials was tough but doable. Year 2 just isn't fun at all. Do what myself and friends did. Stop playing that mode. Let the streamers have it. They've ruined destiny by whining that everything but what they use needs nerfed, and bungie does what they say. Go have fun in pve. Crucible is just a mess and not worth playing anymore
-
Could care less about trials so I don't play much, what I do care about is all the unwanted nerfs to weapons, classes, ammo and the game that we allhave had to suffer from because trials in itself is so unbalanced.
-
14 RepliesJust remove trials. Make it a once a year thing
-
2 RepliesTrials need Tiers, thats all , Every week everyone starts at 0, then if any of your fireteam get Flawless you move up to tier 1 . playing only tier 1 People on your next ticket. If you tier 2 , you only play tier 2. and so on. You can play as much cards as you can. Even when you group up with lower Tier Players ( When carry) The highest Tier counts. At the end , the good playing the good and the bad playing the bad , everyone has chances for the lighthouse and no need to carry anyone.

29 RepliesThere is nothing wrong with people carrying those who are less skilled to the Lighthouse. I've seen plenty of these "carries" fail. It's difficult to do. The mode isn't ruined because somebody else gets to the Lighthouse. You guys are so damn petty. This community is ridiculous. I'm adamantly against people who ask for actual payment to carry other players to the Lighthouse. However, most of the popular/big streamers do not ask for payment. Now, as for this gem;
The top stay at the top while the bottom cannot move up at all.
This is simply fallacious. Personally, I have gone flawless with my average at best team. This team is made up of my girlfriend (who, admittedly, is better than I am) and my friend. We're all fairly average players and we've gone flawless as a team 2 or 3 times. That's not an impressive number by any means, but it proves you wrong. Maybe you don't consider us "the bottom" because we're actually not that bad, but we had to work extremely hard to go flawless together. I even refused to play with my clanmates (back when we were Influence, and we had a very good roster) until I went flawless with my girlfriend and my friend. Trials is NOT meant to be easy. And if you think RealKraftyy double carrying two average at best players is "ruining the game mode", then you're crazy. It's always a hard fight for them. Luckyy and Buttwipe fail sometimes and they're single carrying, Lumi fails sometimes (both in double carries and single carries) and the list goes on. Honestly, the Win-Based Matchmaking (not sbmm) makes it difficult even for decent players. I'm not sure why you and so many other people are so adamantly against it. Sure, Win-Based Matchmaking is far from perfect (sometimes you face 8-0 teams as your first match *facepalm*), but year 1 Trials was too random. I get that it may suck that some of us are working really hard and others get a far less difficult ride, but why is that a problem? I've only ever faced 1 streamer in Trials of Osiris. It was someone from Dad's of Destiny. We lost while they were single carrying. Oh well. You don't win 'em all. I personally thought it was great that there are members in our community who are willing to lend a hand when there is an activity that is a little more difficult to complete. Do people care about Raid carries? No. So how is this any different? Because it's PvP? That should make it more commendable. Typically the elites are more likely to crush you and then mop you up and teabag that shit out of you and you're complaining about ANTI-ELITISM? Seriously? Get out of here, dude.
-
What is the most annoying thing, in my opinion, is the people who already went flawless stay on the entire trails weekend doing it for fun. I mean I still go flawless when with my real team but, when trying to help or carry a friend who, isn't as skilled on PvP to my level of SBMM, its very hard to carry past that forever trials team. Not saying this didn't happen in year 1 but its happening more due to scarab. Really the only reason I still do Trials is to get the shaders but I can't get any out of the hundreds of matches I have done.
-
3 RepliesI go flawless multiple times every week, and I love it. Helping people to the lighthouse is my passion, as it challenges me to improve my game and gives the people I help the opportunity to experience the lighthouse and even learn some valuable pvp skills along the way. Im not a toxic player, I am patient and try to be a good teacher. Im just going to come out and say it: The argument presented in this thread is childish and pathetic, and the fact that it has so many upvotes is depressing. Youre upset that people are carrying inexperienced players? Why? We make our fireteams weaker for the purpose of learning and having a good time, as well as meeting new people. I have met some of the nicest people i know through carries, and youre upset with me for helping them get better at the game? This just sounds like jealousy. There will always be people who are better than you at something- it is a fact of gaming and more importantly a fact of life. You can't get the easy pass just because you feel entitled to rewards, you have to put serious effort into the game and have excellent communication to succeed. If you want an easy game, go play Angry Birds on your mommy's iPad, and get off online multiplayer shooters.
-
1 ReplyHonestly all you need is teamwork and communication. If people want to get carried let them. If you play them its essentially a 2v3 since the person they're carrying is essentially useless. Which means you have the advantage. Play smarter not harder
-
I like this idea!

11 RepliesOk so trials as it stands is end game content correct? So as I understand it that means it should be the end all of pvp content and so in reference to some of the comments on here are trying to compare sports to trials, would mean it's the NFL,MLB,NBA,etc.. of pvp in destiny. This implies that all people who partake I'm trials should know that they are getting put up against all other players who choose to play it, from the best to the worst teams in this game mode. If you can't at least compete with some of the better players then yes you will most likely not see the light house. Now if you can't compete at this level we don't punish you for trying such as giving you handy caps, you are just more likely to get matched with people better than you. Go practice in elimination where it is SBMM until you start winning more then your losing and you will automatically be put into the next "bracket" which can allow you to steadily get better at the game. If you don't want to do that just keep going into trials and hope for the best. Now let's address what I think is the biggest problem with the bracket system. So for one you will get matched up in a competitive game from game one. For an easy reference we will say it gives everyone a 50% chance of winning. Now doing this, at worst 7 time's in a row seems like a pretty hard task to complete. So as trials is right now the best players probably have an 80% win chance for their first 5 wins which drops lower as their wins progress. Let's say wins 6 and 7drop those players to 50% with their last 2 wins coming in at 30%. With those odds it provides them with a higher chance at being victorious then 50% across 7 games. The same can be said with average Joe in the current situation and say his first 5 wins are at the 50% win percentage. Wins 6 and 7 at 30% and his 8th and 9th at 10%. So yes in this scenario a bracket would work better for him. Now let's say in the first scenario Joe wins his first 5 games and loses the 6th win 3 times in a row then he wins the 6th time. He then begins doing this consistently before losing on the 7th and 8th win. This increases his chances in the first 5 to closer to 60% which in turn increases his chances across the board. With practice Joe gets better until he finally makes it to the light house on a semi consistent basis. Sure his not going to breeze by like the top 1% but his progress has helped his chances. If we make it all 50% then he never progresses and never increases his over all chance of making it. With that being said I win some I lose some and I've managed to go flawless every year of trials a few times with random from LFG. I play twice a week for only a few hours each day and all my characters are ind3e 325 light and 3500 grimior so I'm no elitists. If it's fun for you keep playing if it's not then why are you playing a game that's not fun to you.

This forum is censhorship at its finest. Bungie has erased so many posts. Keep bumping and hopefully some people at the top will get these posts and bring fun back!

Edited by Hollow: 7/6/2016 2:01:46 PMWhy are you getting mad at people who carry? It's such a burden on Lumi, Kraftyy, Wish You Luck etc. to double carry or even single carry. They fail sometimes. They are good. Extremely good, but they're not Gods. If you think they're the reason "Trials is ruined/sweaty", you're mistaken, sorry. The constant nerfs to weapons has caused this game's PvP to become passive and irritating at times.

EDIT: Wasn't aware that SBMM wasn't included in Trials. Which is kinda of dumb as again being a team who struggled to get to 5 wins playing against a team who had a breeze getting to 5 wins is still bad.
I can't find who originally wrote this because the site doesn't allow me to order posts old to new anymore (why Bungie?), but I would have to call BS on this. I'm an above average player and I always play trials with the same two friends. The first one is slightly better than me and the other is significantly better than me. In year one we went to the lighthouse every week, three times. Most times we didn't even have to buy a new scorecard. Last year we went to the lighthouse ZERO times. Now I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the matchmaking in year one was only region based. So how would it be possible for us to not go the lighthouse one single time if there wasn't some element of skill based matchmaking introduced? Now admittedly, we don't play as much as we used to anymore, and as a result we've gotten slightly worse. And I can imagine most bad players who still tried trials in year 1 have since given up. So the 'random' group of 3 that we face has probably gotten better relative to our skill, but even then I find it very hard to imagine we wouldn't be able to go to the the lighthouse at least a couple of times. Also I was watching a twitch stream the other night, which I don't very often do, and even though the streamer was a pretty solid player himself, his opponents were complete trash up until the last two rounds. Wielding terrible PvP weapons, missing easy snipes and generally having poor tactics. Last time we played we only got tryhards against us wielding Grasp/TLW/Doctrine/PDX45 - 1000yStare/Longbow/LDR/Party crasher from round 2 or 3 onward. Now this might have something to do with the region, the streamer was American and I'm from europe, but I find it hard to believe there would be such a skill difference.

I really loved trials in the HoW era of Destiny. Nowadays I feel it's not fun n frustrating to go flawless. It's not worth it for me anymore.
