I don't make threads often, but I felt compelled to make this one. No longer being able to stick people with a tripmine grenade sucks. Were people complaining about it that much? It was the one grenade that actually took some skill to get a stick with. The other grenades that can stick to players have some degree of magnetism to them, but not the tripmine.
Really poor move on Bungie's part.
R.I.P. Tripmines
-
I agree completely. I can't find any use for the tripmine now.
-
I agree!! Even tho warlock is my main. I dont see the point in why they changed the hunters tripmine to were they can't stick anyone anymore lol while warlocks can go on sticking sprees haha >< *shrugs*
-
1 ReplyI really wish Bungie would read this thread and see how aggravated people are with them nerfing the trip mines. It's completely unfair when compared to the Titan and warlock grenades that can stick to players AND have that aim assist-like homing. I cannot see any cause for changing that attribute. It's incredibly disappointing.
-
2 RepliesNope, they had no aim assist and actually needed skill to aim them at someone and stick them. Unlike sticky grenades that have the tracking of truth. Plus they did extra damage as a REWARD of actually sticking someone.
-
Yes, because tripmines had the strengths of multiple grenade archetypes
-
Yes it was but the damage reduction WAS NOT!

5 RepliesKeyword TRIP MINE not Sticky grenade
-
I could see closer to the beginning of the game. But after almost two years? No, especially if you claim they were never supposed to. Like bitch, you had plenty of time.
-
4 RepliesNo, not really. It was the only sticky that gunslingers had. And there was always the risk of killing yourself when you stick an opponent. And I don't remember anyone complaining about them sticking? Been that way since day one.
-
1 ReplySlightly off-topic, but do Fusion Grenades cause burning damage from the explosion? They behave as a sticking grenade, but also cause similar damage that Incendiary Grenades do, but those are not grenades that can stick on people. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
I would say so because trip mines are supposed to be used as traps, not multi-purposed as a sticky as well. That's just unfair. Plus, it is really annoying when you are about to kill a gunslinger but they panic and throw the trip mine at you because they're shit and don't know what else to do, essentially becoming a suicide bomber.
-
I feel like Bungie likes drama. They do everything to bring it to their forums.
-
As to your question in the topic, no. Period. That's all I have to say. ~ForeverGunslinger
-
Young Ahamkara's Spine + max dicipline + any mayhem game mode = infinite tripmine
-
If they were going to remove the sticky aspect they should have left the damage the way it was, it can barely kill as it is currently
-
1 ReplyThe problem I have with tripmine being a trap only is it's pathetically short life as they stay the same amount of time that a Swarm grenade does when there are no enemies around. If this is a defensive trap, it needs a buff to it's life time without the need of an exotic.
-
Answer to your title: NO
-
They wanted the change cause reasons and they give us some bs excuse about "its intended use". Its been that way for almost two years and in that all that time not one squeak about how its meant to be used. Did they really just change gunslinger cause they had to be seen doing something? Excuse me. Just a bit baffled with the changes to gunslinger. Could they release the data that said tripmine were leading to more kills? Perhaps they were doing too well? How about its usage rate compared to other nades for fun. I remember titans getting pretty little graphs when the changes came. Hopefully we seen something similar? Gaaaah

-
3 RepliesAgain like they said in the patch. They did that because it was the only grenade used basically. They made it where it was used as intended. As a trip mine. Not a sticky. It is supposed to be used as a trap. It is a defensive grenade. It was being used primarily offensively. I'm not ecstatic about it but I understand why it was done.
-
Is it neccesary for you to come here and gripe about it?
-
Yes, I think it was two years overdue. It's a tripmine. Stuffing it up someone's nostril to blow them up is not how you bloody use mines. The throwing knife and tripmine damage reduction however, I don't agree with. The knife -10% should have been tied to the Incendiary Blade perk as it was the only reason it was implemented in the first place.
-
5 RepliesWhy should you be able to stink a trap to someone when we have fusion and flux grenades? How do you think they feel? Fusion and flux grenades don't get to be traps, they just stick. Thus...thus.
-
Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but it's sterile and I like the taste.
-
77 RepliesYes Remember when you started the game and there were trip mines on the wall Did they fly off and stick to you? No Trip mines are meant to be a trap If you play Cod and use claymores, do those stick? Nope Use them like you're supposed to Block an entrance Use it for tactical advantage and not for free easy kills
-
Not really, outside of consistency with similar class grenades (lightning, spike, etc.)
