What's the difference between earning a weapon or buying it from xur?
If anyone can answer this with a decent reason I shall bow down to you.

Nothing at all except you will need to upgrade it. There is a group of lonely self-important little children that love to harass people saying they earned "X" weapon. They pretend they poured buckets of sweat and blood to somehow "earn" a weapon that was given to them by a random loot system. Doesn't matter how you get it...just get what you like and try it out. Don't worry about the children.

There is none. You earn it either way but babies still think theyre better than others if they rng it even though theres no way to tell the difference.

There isn't. To be absolutely technical, xur is earning. You are awarded coins for effort. Save the coins, spend them. Tadaaaaa. Or you can kill shit and get lucky if it drops. Rng isn't earning ya chumps. Sorry kiddos.

4 RepliesEdited by OuchDatHoyt: 6/11/2016 1:16:38 PMIf you bought it from Xur, you actually earned it more than if you got it from RNGeesus. Coins take work.

3 Replies5 bank accounts, 3 ounces and 2 vehicles.

Edited by BI20CK: 6/11/2016 4:12:37 PMWell, in y1, thorn and a few other weapons we're part of a questline to aquire said exotic. Now, you can go buy a legacy engram from xur and possibly get it. Also, they've changed the way engrams decode since y1 and your more likely to get something you don't have instead of it being completely random. So, did you earn your weapons or xur-n them?

1 ReplyThe only weapons that were really earned in this game were the thorn and the invective. Because there used to be exotic crucible based bounties you had to complete to get them. The first curse was also earned with a bounty. Bad juju, super good advice, necrocasm, and few others were also earned by doing quest type bounties. But far easier to obtain when compared to thorn, invective, and first cure bounties.

1 ReplyNo difference at all. Usually the people, who are crying out the loudest that they earned their exotics, are the ones who actually either got them from Xur or got carried in the Raid/Nightfall (which used to be tough in year 1). Earning doesn't mean anything because it's just luck based and not skill based. Some quests were tough though and still are, like that Imprecation quest.

1 ReplyWhen u buy its at LL 280, when u earn it it can drop at anything between 280 and 5 above it current LL

5 RepliesOne you buy and pick the weapon / armor you want. The other is random. Seems easy and logical. What's the issue?

9 RepliesEdited by Biteria: 6/11/2016 9:42:36 AMIn year 2? Nothing. Back in year 1 where exotics like bad juju and thorn had to be gotten by super annoying exotic bounties and quests....where 3 of coins weren't a thing, and all other exotics had to be obtained through much more grindy rng...quite a lot.

5 RepliesThere's earning, then there's filthy xurning

Nothing at all, and there never was.
