Cheers Bunj...Dropping Beta/Year 1 players on (360/PS3) without clarification for RoI pathway - Low Blow!
Bungle.........You could have waited for Destiny 2, (which needs to be a far BIGGER, more fulfilling and feature packed game).......But no, you decide that ALL last gen players have done their money.....and that the 100's of Dollars/Pounds/Euro's/AUD etc that have been spent supporting Destiny since Beta/Year 1 isn't worth diddly squat!
That my years of supporting this game, and £100 spent is alright to say "cheers...but you aren't valid anymore......go buy a new console and re-purchase the game AGAIN!"....Is fine and dandy
The debacle with a £40 TTK (lacking in content), the ripoff silver 'pay to proceed faster' scam, LACK of dedicated Servers, matchmaking, total bias for PvP, and now the £30 ROI dlc.....
So if I jumped across the console (the money isn't an issue, just location & timing) that will be THREE lots of Exp1&2 and two TTK's ** £45 vanilla, £35 Exp1&2, £40 TTK....then the PS4/XboxOne (£250-£400) + TTK Disc (£30-£70) and ROI DLC (£30) - JUST to continue to play Rise of Iron (ROI)

Destiny (with my characters) is over for me in Sept - (you know ALL the previous DLC inc TTK will be like a Ghost town!)
ENOUGH of throwing my money at the screen!
Thank's for showing that we Year 1 (360/PS3) gamers financial input into this game was just worthless!

Thanks for those that understand, those that think along the same lines.......those that say Destiny should have ALWAYS been next gen....
and also for you salty bunch who think 'buy a new console', 'git gud' and 'scrub' are insightful comments.....
Its' not about buying a new console (I'll wait for the PS4 NEO announcement - I'd be mad to spend £300 on a lesser PS4/XboxOne)......Its about the vanilla and the last 3 DLC all being ok to cash in on....but now with RoI....this is a forced decision......lose my characters, and jump platform, and get the PS exclusives

In the same boat... I'm gonna upgrade but hoping they will have something in place for us because I will most likely refuse to re-buy old content and say goodbye until D2.

1 ReplyYou got to play the game for nearly 2 whole years. Did you have fun? Did you have memorable experiences? If your answer is yes then you didn't throw your money away and it wasn't wasted. It sucks that you have to spend about $500 if you want to keep playing destiny but if you do upgrade consoles you will have a lot of other games to play as well.

Bungie came out in an article and basically said last gen consoles couldn't handle RoI. So they were faced with not releasing any dlc until Destiny 2 or dropping last gen. I think most would agree they made a good choice.

2 RepliesI have to admit, I usually hate reading the "boo-hoo last gen support is gone", but I do understand what you're saying about the dlc re-purchases. I'm honestly surprised they even carried the old gen along for TTK because I think it's been such a limiting factor in the progression of the game. The fact that little things like another vault page and some extra emotes are an issue is evidence of that. What if it's simply not possible to push any more content through the 3/360? What if the reason we've been running strikes in reverse and 90% of the weapons are simply a color change is because the 3/360 are incapable of processing another 250 texture maps? Problem solved- use the same maps for all of it and just mix them around. I hate to jump on the bandwagon of "yay- old gen is finally gone", but I'm excited to see how this expansion is going to compare without the previous limitations. Maybe there's small aspects of D2 they want to test by incorporating them into RoI? It honestly has been over 10yrs for the 3/360 and they were fortunate to be brought 3yrs into much of the 4/xb1 content. I can only assume there will be an all encompassing version of the game to buy that will not cost what all of the parts did individually. They fact that you have to purchase that to continue your journey on a new system shouldn't necessarily become the burden of the developer (sorry- I don't mean that to sound as harsh as it does).

Here's the thing. You're playing on a 10-year-old console that does in fact have it's limits. In order for ROI to work on legacy consoles, they may have to strip it until it's just a shell of it's true potential. Everyone bitched about Destiny being riddled with cut content. Bungie may finally be saying "enough with the cut content. how do we make this DLC work the way we really intend it to work?" Well guess what, that answer is to leave the legacy consoles (outdated, limited hardware/software) behind. Sorry, but this is what happens to consoles that have a newer generation already in place and another well into work.

PS4 neo games will probably cost you more. To play in 4K just isn't worth it. I can run 2x higher on a PC with a GTX1080.
