This is great news for the game coming into Year 3!
In doing this, Bungie has free'd themselves from last gen hardware and is able to deliver great content going into Year 3.
This means more, wait for it 'Vault Space' Possible custom matches etc, character recreation, amazing polished graphics, possible weather patterns in pve and pvp, being able to add live events with a breeze and being able to add in content dlc or content for Year 3 without last gen holding us back.
Year 3 is shaping up to be an awesome year.
Again sorry last gen but it had to be done.
I own a PS4 since year 1 so I'm good.

35 RepliesIt's kind of funny to see everyone think they actually know what they're talking about when they say old gen is holding Destiny back. Such a bandwagon going on. Before rise of iron was even leaked no one said anything about old gen holding Destiny back but as soon as a it did all you kids tried to get technical talking about vault space and loading times and fps. Just copying from someone else's post.

No need to be sorry. Should've happened sooner

1 ReplySo, as a player who uses both XB1 and 360 to play depending on where I am, does this mean if my character has new weapons that I can't use them while logged into the 360?

👏🏻🙌🏻👌🏻👍🏻

I agree bro

PS3 😭🔫

Plot Twist: The Rise of Iron is actually content cut from Destiny 2 and sold to us earlier to keep everyone playing until it's release next year; and that's the real reason 'Legacy consoles' are being cut.

I own a ps4 but i purchased the ps3 version because of a friend of mine... I got all the way too expensive dlc and I would have bought this one too but what now? This looks like the first really good expansion to me! I would like to know if there will be the possibility to upgrade to current gen... I wont pay another 100€ or so (why are the prices the same in the first place?? € is worth more than $ -.-). I wouldnt mind paying for RoI and getting the current gen version on top. They say that about 90% of players are ps4 or xbox one so this is not much no ask for right?

8 RepliesEdited by SpecterWolf959: 6/11/2016 12:54:42 PMAs a Destiny player on the Xbox 360, I see the benefits of leaving the last gen behind. (Better graphics, better live content, more content, etc.) However, I wish Bungie could have given us more warning about this happening so people like me have more than three months to save money. The reason I haven't saved up for the current gen already is because I expected all of the destiny game, including expansions, to be of last gen, then to have Destiny 2 on current gen. This was a pretty abrupt announcement and I just wish it could have happened sooner, like right after the April Update or something like that.

4 RepliesI can't believe all the spoiled crybabies. Last gen was the longest console generation ever. EVER. You had 11 years. That's plenty of time to save up for a new console. Most generations only last 5 or 6 years. The only reason last gen lasted as long as it did was because online gaming popularized consoles more than ever before and they had a very large install base of 100 million people. You're playing on hardware that's over a decade old. Computing power doubles every year. So you're essentially playing on a low end pc from 2008 standards. Destiny should have never been able to run on 360 and ps3. It had to be severely limited and laggy. I played destiny on last gen on a friend's console and it was a horrible experience. And seriously, complaining about money you entitled piece of shit? The gaming industry doesn't owe you anything. It's not going to wait another 10 years for you to save up. You can get a current gen console for $300 now. And they came out nearly 3 years ago. If you can't afford to catch up then you should probably look into a new hobby. Gaming isn't cheap. It never has been and it never will be, at $60 a game. If you're complaining about money you're either a 12 year old and your parents won't buy you a new console, or you're extremely poor and on welfare. Get your priorities straight. For the record, I bought my xbox one on day 1 as a poor college student. If you're really dedicated to something, you'll find a way to make it happen. Just don't drag the rest of us down with complaining.

4 RepliesIf you haven't been able to get a next gen console by now, it's time for a new hobby. Hell, my 9 year old daughter has her own XBOX One by now.

5 RepliesMy personal opinion on the matter is that it's actually a bad move. And that they have gotten a bit greedy in the marketing department. They should have waited for the neo and slim to come out and done a big promotion with them. Instead they are making people upgrade now, and wasting a valuable marketing strategy. If people have just gone out and bought a new system 6 - 7 months ago, why the fcuk would anyone won't to get another new system when the neo and slim hit the shelf.

What about year 3 is shaping p to be great. Have seen nothing yet myself

1 ReplyDo you think this will allow destiny to work on 60 foster and stop the loading in patrol.
-
Anyone could see this coming. Those of you still stuck, should've seen the writing on the wall back when Taken King dropped.
-
Honestly I feel like they picked a good time to do this because while it is true legacy consoles maybe be behind on ROI the hope is that everyone is able to sweetie a current gen before the launch of destiny 2. It also allows them to go all out and figure out what they can do with all the up to date tech before They launch 2.
-
1 ReplyPeople are going to complain and cry no matter what. Even if they waited until the release of destiny 2 they would have complained that they strung people along for the first two years and they wasted their time only to be left behind.

1 ReplyThe fact and ultimate reality is that soon or later Y1 users were going to be left behind. To not believe so, is to have delusions of grandeur. I could honestly understand the plight of Last Gen users IF the Current Generation was just beginning, but it has been 3 years. Realistically speaking, if you are a gamer at all, you should have been starting to transition to the newer consoles. The "cost" shouldn't be a factor for not moving. Consoles don't cost that much, in retrospect of other electronic devices. You could easily raise the money by putting back a few dollars every pay check. If you aren't old enough to work yet and have to rely on parents, I would find ways to make a few extra dollars. In the US summer has arrived. Growing up, my parents hated video games and refused to buy them for me. The ONLY console they ever purchased me was the original NES. If I wanted a new console I had to work hard and save my allowance and I did. I've owned every console save the Saturn and SNES. I don't make a ton of money, but even now, I can manage buying a new console every few cycles. I plan to purchase Xbox (Scorpio) Day 1. You also have to consider that the further we get into Current Gen, the larger the gap will become between the Now Gen, and Last Gen. Because of this developers will be forced to create "two" versions of every game. That isn't feasible. It makes perfect since that Bungie is letting go of last gen. It's time.

3 RepliesAll the conspiracies of "they just want to screw us over" needs to stop. There is a reason for it. Bungie is leaving money on the table by not selling to old gen, but then again they might not have been getting enough revenue from those gens to warrant the development. If that's the case, I don't blame them one bit because then there's no ROI for them. My hope is that by cutting the old gen for this expansion then we can get larger maps like a larger patrol area. The truth is we don't REALLY know how much the old gen held us back, but we do know they couldn't handle simple things like gun/armor animations and loading times for horrible. It stands to reason that by cutting them the limits on what they can do development wise have been raised since they don't need to concern themselves with making it run on 10 year old hardware. I would also like to point out if you look around and are smart you can get the current gen for pretty cheap. Both my brothers picked up an Xbox one through GameStop by turning in their 360 for $140 and then TTK was on sale for $30 at the time. The one went out and bought a used 360 to turn in for credit since he didn't have one and still made out.

Everyone needs to remember that they plan to have some sort of transfer so everyone just needs to save up for a ps4 or Xbox one and wait until they release more info about the transfer.
-
mabye it is good for you, but what if one have a ps3 and the taken king? do one still get rise of iron? no, bungie cant do this. then they lie to us.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe the next Destiny will be more than 30FPS this way.
