Who else is hesitant about Rise of Iron?

Huge destiny fan/player here, but idk man, Bungie really has to make some awesome additions in order for me to fork up some more $$$ I'm looking forward to seeing what Rise of Iron holds, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. Edit: did not expect this to pick up a lot of chatter! I'm really glad to see all of these conversations have been grounded and not trolly. I thank you for that. I'll be responding back to most of ya when I get back! Edit #2 After the Stream: Alright, what they showed seems pretty neat. I'm interested to see the crucible side of things. Also that Hammer looks cool, but too bad it's not a Heavy Weapon.

  • Same thing EVERY new expansion... "Gee, I don't know guys... Bungie/Destiny sucks and the DLC will cost too much and it's already on the disc too." LOL...

    • It's free. Bungie said the rest of the content for Destiny 1 will be free, thanks to the addition of in-game purchases.

      • I will be happy if we get: new planet/zone to explore, new themed armor/weapons, new end game PVE content. That's it.

Its more DLC. Nothing was jaw dropping. Currently no other game compares so I will likely purchase it. They need to address pre-existing content. No sense in having the new DLC if all previous becomes obsolete. Complete waste of HDD space, money, and time.

I heard it's not coming to PS3 or xbox360. Why not? I can understand not having destiny 2 on PS3 and stuff. It's still destiny one and they have a lot of players who play on last gen consoles, so why not give them what they also deserve? I'm expecting lots of "because last gen is obsolete" and "buy a ps4/Xbox one nerd" and "who plays on last gen?" Comments

        • What I need to see in order for it to convince me to fork over more money to our Grind Overlords at Bungie is probably unrealistic TBH. But nonetheless, I've payed AT LEAST $150 to play this game through current content and I don't think it is too much to ask for a company to prove they are going in the right direction before you fork out more money for their product. In so many ways, TTK was a complete 180 from the direction the franchise appeared to be going in HoW. Sure, I hated HoW because I had everything pretty much pre-HoW and so there was nothing left but the grind to get EL, which I hated because I hated Trials and POE. But it seemed like they were making good on their promise to not make obsolete gear we ground our asses off to get by way of preventing prior gear from reaching max light. Instead, at launch of TTK many of our favorite weapons and armor were made artificially obsolete because they could not be ascended. I've enjoyed TTK, but not like I enjoyed Y1 of Destiny. And overall, I regret having gotten it (at minimum, I wish I had waited a long while to get it rather than pay a premium when the DLC launched). But if this crap continues (the cycle of making certain gear obsolete) then count me out. I need to see Y1 gear return in its full glory- ascendable right from the start rather than having to regrind to get the same stuff I had before. If this doesn't happen, it shows that we're just going to expect more of the same. And after 2 years of "more of the same" Destiny has pretty much worn on me to the point that I just don't believe the value is there money-wise anymore.

          • I am. I won't get it's been out for several months and I've read a bunch of reviews on it and watched a lot of videos of it. I can see Rise of Iron being mainly focused on a bunch of new pvp focused activities with a really unimaginative pve story tacked on to it that will only have about 7-10 hours tops of new content. If it has a whole new zone to explore like the dreadnought I hope it's a little less gloomy. Dreadnought is just a really ugly un-fun map to play in. I don't think anyone likes that place. It's only redeeming quality is the court of oryx. Chances are though it will just be exactly that. One new zone to explore with nothing new to do but more typical patrols, a new raid, a new strike or 2 and a very short story and a ton of new stuff for pvp. Some new weapons some new gear, a typical cookie cutter add on. If it's free then cool, it should be free, if it's not free then I will probably not get it ever. I'll just wait for destiny 2.

          • Yeaaa i dunno. Every time they say some dumb shit to try to push for pre orders. Like the suros armory with green weapons LMAO with ttk. Also unless they release at least some of those exotics that were hyped in ttk release hype train yet were recently removed from the armory without even a mention i will be VERY wary of what they say, advertise and promise, and will not just "throw money at the screen" like the last 3 times. Dont lie to your fans bungo!!

              • I'm not happy about the rumor that it's current gen only. I mean, I have both, but why not see last gen's content through then leave it behind for Destiny 2? Seems like a dick move.

                • I has all aboard the hype train in 2014. I joined the open beta and had a blast. But level 8 was a poor endicater for endgame content and leveling mechanics. TDB was a disappointment. Too short on story and a pretty simple raid. HoW helped ease the pain of past purchases, but I still felt burned. TTK was a tad over priced and the introduction of silver was a big red flag for me. The free April update did finally make me feel I got my monies worth, but the game still has some issues, big issues. I will contain any expectations for future dlc and new games with the destiny title. I'll also not be purchasing any future destiny title until I'm well aware of what I'm buying.

                    • They added plague zones which seems like the the only real new content so far. Nothing they released seems ground breaking or surprising. Reskinned enemy factions is nothing new. I will get the DLC. ME3 and Deux Ex release in the same quarter. I'll have more than enough to keep me from burning out on Destiny

                    • Im feeling VERY hesitant about this dlc dude. It just feels as if Bungie have been doing as little as they can to earn more money. I think a lot of us should hold back to show them they've been slacking and its not enough any more. But I know as usual, majority will throw money at them all over again come September anyway

                    • Why would I be hesitant? Why would anyone be hesitant? If you like the product, you buy it. If you don't like the product, don't buy it. If people build up expectations in their own mind they're only setting themselves up for disappointment. We haven't heard anything, so being negative about what we might/might not get is nonsensical.

                    • To be honest the Rise of Iron is the only new piece of Destiny DLC. Everything else we got was cut out of the original game. So this DLC is basically new but except with the exotics we were supposed to get and the raid that was heavily reworked. I'm a skeptical person but damn I'm getting a great vibe from this thing. They're putting in a new area dude. Like damn a new area on earth. Thats pretty baller right there.

                    • On one hand, Bungie has been kind of shitty recently, and I dobmn't want to reward them for not listening at all. On the other hand, the gameplay, mechanics and graphics are all amazing, and I enjoy all three, and would like more content. On yet another hand, it's too early to judge, and I need more information on the DLC itself before I form a proper opinion.
