At the end of Caede's stash mission, there is a cell that is searchable. When you scan it, the ghost says there is a guardian of exceptional light that he tried to resurrect. The guardian declined the invite stating he had seen enough war. So, who is this exceptionally powerful guardian of old and why has he turned his back on the city?

After playing the new Doom...I'm hoping it's the Doom Slayer, just waiting for the moment where shit REALLY goes wrong for us.
-
Obi-wan Kenobi?
-
Master chief. Another Halo nod
-
2 RepliesI've looked for the cell, but never found it. Help?

Most likely, it's the Master Chief, from Halo. The pod number is 10201, and Halo was released on Nov 15, 2001. I'd say that Oct 2, 2001 was a significant date for Bungle (no I didn't type that on purpose, my phone just does that, and I think it's funny, so I don't correct it). If I had to guess, that was probably the date the original game was shipped to Microsoft for the game discs to be manufactured.

He's the legendary Guardian who managed to prepurchase all 10 years of sequels, dlc & microtransactions. Light level over 9000. Now he's got to sleep for 8 more years so he doesn't get continually reported in Trials and IB.
-
It's a halo reference "He says the last war was enough for a thousand lifetimes" is a reference to the humans v prophet v flood war
-
Master Chief, obviously.
-
5 RepliesI heard it's Saint-14 because he went missing on earth a long time ago
-
It's an Easter Egg for the Master Chief.
-
3 RepliesI've never seen it, but from your description I would guess that it's one of the original Lords of Iron. Not only did they see tons of War with the Fallen, they also (according to other fan lore inferred from flavor text on IB gear and weapons) went through some kind of internal struggle and eventually fell to infighting. Having to fight against the friends that helped you defeat the Fallen at 6 Fronts, that would make anyone feel like giving up.

Could be the dead ghost titan Maybe he lost the will to fight anymore Maybe we will give him hope

8 RepliesTo everyone saying Halo, why? There are many awesome characters in this game that it could be.
-
Master Chief. Little Halo easter egg
-
1 ReplyWas rezyl azzir based of master chief?
-
1 ReplyIt's likely a character from Destiny's lore, but it is most certainly a nod to Master Chief, though it is most likely not actually him.
-
5 RepliesI never played Halo (and don't have much interest in playing it either), so could someone explain how it could be Master Chief?
-
2 RepliesIt's Smoggy Pluto - some say he took down Randel the Vandal with one punch and a headbutt.
-
Either Master Chief or Rezzyl Azir (first Guardian.)
-
dis d i c c
-
M.C Master Chief It's just an Easter egg.
-
3 RepliesAnyone who is mad if this is an MC reference why? Like seriously, why cant bungie make a reference to s previous game? Not everything has to be concrete lore. They can just throw in some fun little things from time to time.
-
Struck me as a throwaway master chief Easter egg
-
1 ReplyIt's often speculated that it's rezyl azzir. He's often called the first guardian because of all the wars and things he did. Myelin Games has a really good video up about this. Don't remember what it's called though but if you can find it it's super interesting

As some have said, it's a Master Chief Easter egg from the halo game series which was originally created by bungie. At the end of halo 3 Master Chief went to sleep in a cryo chamber....
-
Master chief, it's just an easter egg
