There is always discussion on average k/d or calling people out based on k/d. That got me thinking, is win/loss ratio more important? And if so, why is there not more discussion on that metric?
I recognize many people believe k/d to be meaningless but bear with me.
Thank you for your input!

Fun / not fun ratio
-
KD. Your overall performance is more important since your team can drag you down, W/L is hard to maintain as a solo player. KD is a better judge. If you always play in a team you better have both high.
-
KD because relying on other people is why we can't have nice things.
-
I've always gone for wins in any game over my kd but the community in any game now doesn't play for wins because they just ignore every flag or in snd they fek off to their spawn with the bomb, i struggle to have the patience for pvp anymore because little johnny would rarther loose with a positive kd and not fek off and play tdm?
-
You can have a good W/L ratio if you play with a good team a lot. Even if you have a sub par K/D ratio. And vice versa if you don't play in a team. In short, neither are effective tools on their own. If you want to see how well a guardian can perform for you then you have to take the next step and play with them.
-
Neither are great metrics, but if you had to choose, KD is more influenced by individual ability than win/loss.
-
KD. Not my fault if I go into a matchmade team on IB and I have a 2.5kd and everyone else on my team has a 0.5kd.

5 RepliesThe most important Stat in the game, is how much fun you have.
-
I mostly play solo. You know where that leads. I still have an average KD but overall, I'm trash.
-
I've brought my k/d up from .7 to 0.80 in one night in IB. Before that i was absolute trash. You could say I still am if you look at overall numbers. Playing the The Division apparently has helped me improve my gun skills in Destiny. This is the first time I've truly enjoyed the Crucible and Destiny PVP overall. Plus the good drops have helped as well. But I wanna win first and foremost. That's what matters. If I finish 8/9 or 5/8 or 11/10 and we win..then I'm happy. Nothing else matters other than winning.

The problem with Win/Loss Ratio is it is very easy to pad that stat specially if you have a group of friends who mainly does PvP and good at it. You can just group up with them and let them carry you to victory. K/D on the other hand isn't as easy to cheat on year 2. On year 1 there was a way to pad your stat but that is no longer possible. So in a way K/D is more important in such a way that if there is an objective on the match like Control or Rift you can at least rely on people with high K/D to get kills that would make it easier for you or anyone else get the objective done. This is specially true in Trials where numerous people get flawless on a weekly basis because they keep getting carried or they are cheating their way to flawless.

5 RepliesThey work together, What is a 2.0KD with a 20% win ratio, It goes the other way to, Whats a 80% win ratio when your KD is 0.70. You have to look at both. I belive my are 1.46KD and a 55%(1.5) win ratio. I have what I consider a decent KD and I win more then I lose.
-
1 ReplyNeither, the only state I look at is "KD this week". As long as that's a positive kd I'm all in
-
KD. If it was a 1v1 game mode then both, but if you're spending time in team based game modes such as control or clash, KD matters more. In those scenarios, win lose is based on team effort and not just one person. Someone can be skilled on their own but end up losing a match because their team sucked.
-
Neither and here is why. K/D. K/D doesn't portray skill because of various reasons. People who suicided for the Crimson ghost their K/D went down dramatically. Also, people like me who play in crucible to try new guns and screw around might not get the best K/D. All in all I'd say it doesn't really matter. W/L ratio. Win loss ratio doesn't mean jack. Many times people will play control or salvage and people will just get kills and forget about the objective, causing the people who are trying to win, lose. Teammates are everything when it comes to win loss and we all know you get paired with idiots sometimes.

A high k/d over a lot of kills and a long time is the best indicator. W/L goes out the window due to JIP

4 RepliesEdited by Nike: 4/27/2016 6:43:12 PMI'll leave this here. Some players cannot be carried. None of my teammates even BOTHERED to try to grab the spark. ~TheGreatNike

The only thing that remotely irritates me in PvP is objective play. If there is an objective, try to get it, don't run around trying to get kills the whole game.
-
1 Reply***OFFICIAL THIRD OPTION*** "Nether, having fun is the most important."
-
1 ReplyI think kd is a better indicator of skill because unless you always run stacked, you will most likely have a bad win loss.
-
2 RepliesWho cares...it's a frigging game
-
1 ReplyNeither. Are you enjoying yourself with this game is more important than those.
-
2 RepliesI just play for fun, some good games, some horrid games. The only game i ever really cared about rank or stats was halo 2. Damn that rank 50 icon was sexy. I play for fun. If youre not having fun, i reqlly dont understand why someone would keep playing. Competition can be fun too, but with the right mindset. Just my opinion.
