I see a lot of people arguing that elemental primaries promoted less loadout variety. I disagree. I had a lot more variety in my arsenal in Year 1 than I do now, where the solution to everything is the Hung Jury.
Elemental damage was never overpowered. It was only good for burns and enemy shields of the same type. Not game breaking, but it gave certain weapons a purpose. Like my old void Jewel of Osiris I never would have used otherwise with its average perks. They should never have removed that extra variable that people like to have on certain loadouts.
Lets put it this way, if Bungie added a solar hand cannon, arc pulse rifle, and void scout rifle to the Challenge of Elders, do you think people wouldn't want to add them to their arsenal?

Bungie ruined their own game. I don't play anymore but I'll still voice my opinion cause this was once a fun game! Why grind for sub par rewards? Year One > Year Two.....by a longshot!

1 ReplyElemental primaries were broken. They broke the pve balance. Shielded enemies weren't a threat at all and burn nightfalls are too easy.

5 RepliesWhen elemental primaries existed I used three different primaries, the best ones in each element. Though outside of burns all I really used was fatebringer. Now I use a whole ton of primaries, including exotic primaries which was practically unheard of in y1.

There were tons of elemental weapons i used to use. Atheons epilouge(pre field scout nerf), fang of ir yut, word kf crota, necrochasm, praydeths timepiece, abyss defiant, Skolas primaries, trials primaires(im probally missing a few more too). Now all i see is hung jury, mida, zhalo, or imago poop. never even got voc or fatebringer until a week or 2 before the TTK so i had to use other elemental primaries, and guess what? I still was able to do the activities! Also instead of making new cool guns, they literally just made a fatebringer w/o a burn, a legendary hawkmoon, and a legendary red death-auto rifle. Like why? Make a complete new design or something. And the raid weapons r crap too(minus the hmg). Elemental primaries are being left behind. They had the distinct and undesirable property of limiting a broad weapon sandbox to a few weapons. You’re free to disagree, but I strongly prefer the breadth of arsenal options, the potential of finding a better Legendary than you have to being stuck because of a damage color. -Hawt Luke Smith Sorry Hawt luke smith, but it didn't work. :(

I never switch primaries unless it's for a specific purpose (I.E touch of malice in kings fall) when there were elemental primaries I could match elements to strikes now I just use the same scout rifle or pulse rifle for everything.

Going to orbit if ur fire team wipes in nightfall. That was the whole point of nightfall, being a challenge. Now its a cake walk.
