What is the point of having exotic weapons anymore? Exotics are considered exotics because they held certain advantages over other legendaries. Now with all the crying and whining for nerfs, Bungie is just negating and taking away all the exotic perks. TLW Perk is now non existent. The White Nail perk that made the Black Hammer superior was changed to pull ammo from reserves when turned into the Black Spindle. All they had to do was make the Black Hammer an exotic and kept the perk. Mida multitool is being nerfed as well. Gjallarhorn wolfpack rounds were nerfed. Vex Mythoclast prenerf was a beast. Hawkmoon perk was nerfed. The Truth will be receiving less rockets when you pick up heavies in crucible.
Why even have exotics when theyre just going to nerf them? Why not just get rid of exotics and make all weapons legendary since you want to make it all the same and generic? Exotics are supposed to give you an advantage, thats the whole point of having them. Instead lazy, entitled people cry and complain because theyre being outgunned by exotics they themselves can earn. Get better, get the weapons other people are using against you and fight back. Get better and stop feeling sorry for yourself and cry for a nerf because you are tired of dying.
Edit: If exotics are merely for the "looks" and are supposed to only be "unique" and "different" but provide no advantage, whether slight or a large amout, then how come you can only equip one piece of exotic at a time? Class items might be more cosmetic than anything but you can't tell me a Guardian wearing all exotic gear and equipped with all exotic weapons has no advantage over one with a full set of legendary gear and weapons.
To the ones saying it's not more powerful but more "unique". How much more unique will exotics be when Bungie is going after the very perks that make exotics "unique"? If exotics don't give an advantage why wouldn't they let you use more than one at a time? Is it because it would be unfair? If they hold no advantage how can they be unfair?

1 ReplyBecause having clearly superior options, even in a non-competitive game like Destiny, is a bad idea. Take a look at that ridiculous graph for Mida "Balanced" Multitool. They will just remove the intrinsic HC rounds, the rest of the weapon is untouched. If it gets a sharp dip in usage, then people weren't using it for its "unique flavor" but because it's a complete PITA to fight against and gives them an advantage.

Game blows cause of all the nerfs and changes constantly to the same guns lol

Right on! Warfare is all about having the tactical advantage. Exotics provided (or at least used to) tactical advantage. In warfare there are winners and there are losers. And someone with a tactical advantage usually wins. That's warfare, that's life, and that used to be this game. What Bungie has done is to "balance" the game so everyone wins. Everyone is special, everyone gets exotics, and everyone gets a participation trophy. I encourage the lazy, entitled people to recite Stuart Smalley, "I good enough, i'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"

1 ReplyIt wasn't the perks that killed mida but popularity, we choose it and they said ummm too many people made the same choice...choose again(different)

Edited by Ardendor: 4/9/2016 1:56:41 PMExotics are not exotics because they are not better than legendaries, exotics are exotics because they do something special or bring something to the table a normal legendary couldn't.

2 RepliesWhat's odd is that the nerfs are done because of PvP. If this is going to be the case then why not just disallow exotics in PvP. Then they can retain their perks for PvE purposes but PvP players have to rely upon legendaries. I'd be cool with that.

2 RepliesAlso can we please upgrade year one class items, they don't give advantages and I miss using my Shattered Vault Cloak
The only difference between a blue and a legendary is an additional perk node. The only difference between a legendary and an exotic is a specialty perk. There should never have been a TTK difference between legendaries and exotics. Exotics should be used only when you want said specialty perk to help bolster or define your gaming archetype. We all are just so used to a handful exotics being overly easy to use, that we have neglected what they truly were made for. Everyone is used to farming/grinding for that "OP" gun to whore out in PVP so that they can be on a level playing field. Everyone is complaining about our guns being nerfed to oblivion. However I think that PVP right now is the most balanced that it has ever been. TLW/Mida/Thorn were issues, and they needed to get put in their place. TLW took the hardest hit this round.
1 ReplyEdited by Dooodley: 4/9/2016 1:32:35 PMYeah really not a fan of how they're fiddling with the exotic perks. Nerf output but leave the perks alone. There's a reason to why we're only allowed to have one exotic weapon and armor piece equipped, right?

Agreed

You haven't even used the last word after the update so stop making judgement until you know.

I totally agree with u bro their is a huge difference between overpowered and overused all these crybabies need to step up their game and stop ruining the fun of destiny for the rest of us

13 RepliesYour post is wrong within the first two sentences. Exotics are not and we're never meant to be "better than legendaries" They were meant to be unique. The word exotic doesn't even mean better it just means something that's different/unique/foreign.

1 ReplyYou people make me want to slam my head through a window. They buffed more exotics than they nerfed. Hell, they only nerfed two PvP exotics, which IMO deserved it.
-
1 ReplyIt's the path they have chosen... And we can't change it really. But I have to say - when an exotic dropped in vanilla you felt like a beast. You saw your friends ripping through mobs or slaying in crucible and thought damn I want that. I'm not making an argument for the game being more or less balanced - just saying that the game certainly has a different feeling these days. How did you get that twilight garrison??? Oh I killed the gate lord after i popped 3oC - -

Very powerful post that raises a good question. I totally agree with you #MakeExoticsGreatAgain

It just goes in cycles. Bungie did the same shit with weapon balancing in Halo. When no one uses MIDA for 6 months and SUROS Regime is the meta again, they'll just rebalance to how it was before. The cycle thus far has been: SUROS:Red Death:TLW:Thorn:MIDA
-
13 RepliesThey're meant to be unique, not OP. Bungie themselves said so.
-
Good Question, even better why have different guns in the game at all, at this rate.
-
-blam!- yeah HAWKMOON
-
2 RepliesAll they had to do was have a pvp mode thar banned any exotic. There's other ways of doing things to make a game better than just nerfing everything.
-
4 RepliesI fell like if they really care about the community there should be a vote. Just be like "Hey were thinking about nerfing this or that, go to www whatever to cast your vote" then when shit is Nerfed, yeah people will still bitch but at least you feel like you played a part.... I mean how many people would have voted to bring gjallahorn to year 2 or to leave thorn alone
-
1 ReplyYou're wrong in so many ways. Everyone is right that exotics are just unique. The Black Hammer was a legendary but by far better than most, if not all exotic snipers. It also received the white nail nerf before the black spindle came into the picture.

So true.
