Wow, guys. Just, wow. We are now going to run out of sniper ammo insanely fast when fighting all the bosses. "Ok, I'll use my quillim's terminus!", you say? Yeah, nope. They nerfed that too.
This was not the way to go, guys. I'm constantly running out of ammo every damage cycle on the War Priest and every time in the Shade phase of the Oryx battle as it is now.
This is going to increase raid difficulty and let the more effective players do even less to make up for their less accurate brethren.
2 cycle war priest? Not anymore. 2 cycle Golgy? Idk, I usually run the gaze, but I doubt that too. Finish the Shade reliably? Nope! Now we're going to need weapons of light and tethers in the shade.
FML, bungie. I like both PvE and PvP. But you guys really, really don't give a damn about PvE'ers, do you?
I don't do these rants, but damn. I raid three times a week and i have to endure wipe after wipe already caused by random PUG guys who just aren't quite awesome at the stuff.
Now the struggle bus is gonna throw another axle bearing, thanks to this retarded "Oh, people are getting sniped. Let's nerf ammo into the freaking ground!" solution of of yours.
GG, Bungie. GG.
Edit: Because some people either don't understand how the raid boss battles work or how ammunition works with them.
For those who are going to post that the special drops are being increased, read the next section about how the King's Fall raid boss battles work:
Basically, King's Fall was designed around standing as a group basically in one spot and putting lots of highly concentrated damage on the target down range in a short window of time.
Snipers are obviously the way to do this with the most efficiency because all of these targets have precision or critical damage spots.
While you are standing in these "Put damage on target" zones, it is usually not possible to move around and pick up ammo that dropped somewhere else on the map, nor is it advisable to enter the menu to "pop a synth".
And keep in mind, ammo synthesis have that 5:00 minute cooldown timer. So I can't see how we're not going to be digging heavily into primary ammo for these, with our special and heavy exhausted, once the patch goes in.
I, personally already do this now quite often. I don't see how this doesn't translate into at least lower damage against raid bosses per damage cycle.
Edit: Changed title to better reflect the topic content and added relevant tags. Somebody said this needs to get addressed. Let's go, guys! Git 'er done! Be loud and obnoxious!
Edit: Afterthought that I'm not really against the sniper "tuning" for the crucible. That said, I have never seen somebody with full sniper ammo break the game.
Edit: Over 2,000 posts in this thread, folks. We were atop the trending list for about 36 hours. Nobody more important than Xur has bothered to stop by. You'd think at least Butthurt would be around by now.
Edit: TL:DR... The sniper ammo nerf is going to negatively affect the KF boss fights. We need to snipe the bosses a lot really fast while not running around picking up all the ammo that's going to be raining from the sky or having time to pop a synth.

Balls to King's Fall, having less sniper ammo/quillims ammo is going to make a ballache even more of a ballache. Stupid decision and i'm not sure how this is really going to stop the prevalence of snipers in PVP. It's just going to hurt PVE and even if Bungie revert the changes after realising it was a mistake (though they won't say it, they'll just say "Increase special ammo reserves"), it'll still take 4-5 months for them to actually do it. Bad move Bungie, bad move.

3 RepliesIt's time to pick up a mg with field scout and use sniper ammo on chest and boots. Hopefully that'll still get The full 24 bullets
-
3 RepliesShoot the loot

3 RepliesDoubt it's gonna be a problem. Firstly we haven't seen the patch notes. They could have made changes that change the context and thus the end result. Secondly even without this change, we do warpriest in one or two cycles now. So it goes to two maybe three cycles. Not gonna be a major struggle. Gogly will be unchanged, as i don't expend my entire inventory of special per dmg phase. Oryx will be absolutely ok, I've never had a shortage there outside heavy, which is easily handled with heavy synth. Iunno, I'd calm down until you at least see the patch notes, or better yet have played some KF at 333+ light.
-
It's not going to be an issue. The amount of damage per round is still going to be high and significant. It might add an extra round, who really knows yet. But don't exaggerate it and blow it up to bigger than what it is.
-
T.o. M with blessings if its that much of a problem for u
-
This is just a suggestion, but you could, maybe, just use Sleeper on the warpriest and spend an extra 3-4 mins doing another round on Golgoroth!? I mean, it probably took you longer to write this than it actually would to do it. Adapt.
-
agree
-
ProTip, use a glasshouse titan at golgoroth and warpriest. It will somewhat make up for the lack of DPS
-
2 RepliesDon't worry! Bungie can save King's Fall AND all of Destiny with my New Exotic-Item Idea!

2 RepliesI fell like if they really care about the community there should be a vote. Just be like "Hey were thinking about nerfing this or that, go to www whatever to cast your vote" then when shit is Nerfed, yeah people will still bitch but at least you feel like you played a part.... I mean how many people would have voted to bring gjallahorn to year 2 or to leave thorn alone
-
4 RepliesStop bitching. Get a different sniper then a black spindle and get one with triple tap. You will still have around 20 rounds of you land all shots. Two cycles for warpriest. And still 2 cycles for golgoroth. Ppl act like its the end of the world. Well guess what, it's not the end. Life will continue

1 Replymy sniper gun has 36 rounds and my shotty has 16... i love nyc !!! and at the start of every mission I receive full ammo...division rocks !!!
-
Makes Malice and Blessing a little more viable, EVERYWHERE.
-
4 RepliesI thought they would have learned their lesson with the Handcannon ammo nerf... Well here's to getting our ammo back in about 5-7 months
-
As usual Bungie will ignore this topic. Class acts that they are.
-
They said it will drop more often now from ads.
-
I wouldn't usually mind the ammo shortage on snipers, I would try to be creative and see how can I make the most out of it, but it's not like every single person on Destiny has Sleeper or Touch, while other guns cannot provide high enough dps for KF bosses. To which the solution would be to lower the health of KF bosses. Even with a perfect team, you need around 2 hours to complete the entire raid, while usually around 3 to 4 with a decent team. With this sniper nerf, we'll spend even more time to do it, and always searching for players mid raid. TL;DR With the sniper ammo nerf coming up, the average completion time for KF will rise, even for experienced groups. I believe Bungie should balance the nerf by lowering the health of Warpriest and Golgoroth, where sniper ammo runs out quickly.
-
They do it to switch the game up. That's it. It's awful tho. Pvp and pve stats need to be completely separate
-
This just proves how flawed KF is. I really hate how all the boss fights result on getting the most damage off each round and repeat. Now well all have to do 1 more round
-
2 RepliesGet inside the Aura. Use Touch Of Malice. Rinse. Repeat. Win. I don't have many KF raids under my belt, but the ONLY thing I used my sniper rifle on other than the Warpriest were the Ogres. I only used my sniper rifle on WP after I ran out of ammo for the Sleeper Simulant. I fail to see the problem here.
-
I look forward to seeing what changes on both sides. I don't expect KDs to drop like a sack of hot nails, but we'll see lower numbers overall, maybe even higher Ratios due to less encounters with spec and heavy. If the raids really do see a significant shift in dynamic, I like it. A good challenge that remains challenging; strategy and teamwork will count more than ever. Remember EA's BLACK ? You'd get punished for not being careful, too fast, for trying to Halo your way through. We'll see how it goes.
-
2 RepliesAmmo drops like candy in that raid as is.
-
3 RepliesEdited by VyersReaver: 4/9/2016 9:36:23 AMYou people are overreacting. They will bump your light so that you will still kill WP in one cycle with adjusted ammo reserves. First two weeks are going to be little sad, but otherwise - not a big deal. Edit: ok, stop with the downvoting, it's embarrassing. If you don't agree with me - just post and explain. I didn't say anything offensive to warrant dispraise.
-
2 RepliesI was going to come back for this update. I've been running the dailies and heroics for the past 2 weeks to get back in the swing of things. This reminds me of why I quit in the first place. I'll try it for myself, but it sounds like they're adamant on running me off again. Ah well. I miss the gunplay, which is why I thought about coming back in the first place, but in a game where balance is so broken it's hard to stick around.
-
I don't mind. I would love to do king's fall with out using a sniper. It gets boring using the same weapon over and over again. That's why I tell raid groups I don't have touch of malic, or black spindle even though I do.
