Real year ones don't reset characters and boost stats because you're afraid of what mlg wanna-be hipster kids might think of your f'n k/d.
Real year 1's don't give 2 apple farts about what gun and subclasses an unemployed begging streamer uses, because we learned (about 20 nerfs/buffs ago) to use whatever the hell our thumbs tell us feels right.
Real year 1 players wear the earlier days troubles AND our stats like an f'n badge of honor.
Don't f'n talk about the originals here, unless you are one.
If you're a year one player and you've reset for that reason, then youre not a scrub....
.... your a SCRATCH.
And yes , we can tell who you are.
Since we're on the subject (and I'm blinded by rage) what else defines REAL year 1rs?
Edit: Great responses people. I'm really digging the individual stories about your history with your characters.
To those who remember resetting for VOG and CE runs, I got no issue with that as it was a real struggle to reach that max.
Edit 2: spartaboy777 said it best and really captured what I mean, but with a bit more eloquence.
For those of you that are year 2, welcome. This post was in no way directed towards you.

I approve this message!

I've recreated I believe my hunter and my Titan but that's for reasons other than for boosting my stats

I still get nervous when I see a vex hydra. VoG Syndrome

3 RepliesHad Human Tita male from day 1... Warlock was there during TDB....
hunters are trash
-
1 ReplyI have had more than 15 different characters actually, apart from my hunter ( which is not my first hunter but I think is still from vanilla ) Really because I like to grind and can't make my mind on what I like the most ... I love the hunters but I also like the warlocks, especially their burst jump, I prefer the hunters really because of the golden gun (" the perfect shot ") like the description reeds ... Not hating on the Titans tho simply I just don't feel comfortable using one ... Love snipers and hand canons and this is coming from a blink-shotgun-hunter in vanilla ... When I tried snipers I just fell in love ... I have had three hunters , one hunter and two warlocks ( three times ), two hunters and one warlock ( twice ) which is what I'm running right now , actually just deleted my Titan two days ago (once again) and created a hunter , one of each ( probably 5 times or more ). I'm a pvp player but that doesn't mean I don't run the raid (s) every week , actually right now I've stopped doing the raid for a month and a half now because my mains are already 320, so I just play with friends and do trials during the weekend , love to carry in trials but still love to be carried , one problem I don't have anyone that can do it ... For me a real year one is someone who although is a good player in pvp can do great in pve in every aspect ( like someone who soloed Crota, not now but in TDB when it was actually higher level than you or that did VoG from the beginning to end with 3 players) PS: Fusion Rifles must be nerfed, yesterday saw someone who got fusion rifled in the face at melee range and didn't die... Like wtf bungie NERF THEM ALREADY

2,0+ KD on all my year one chars and practically no "match quits". Come at me.
-
I never reset characters :)
-
Sorry but Destiny is not MLG!
-
1 ReplyNever understood why resetting is a thing now a days.. i have more joy in seeing something like kd go up over time like it is now than start al over again xd
-
Never reset mine and I have 2 accounts could care less what my KD is. I've been playing since December of year 1 so about 3 months after the game came out? Lately have seen a lot of players in strikes and crucible who's light is 319,320 and they are not very good (some can't even stay alive for 2 minutes on heroic strikes) and they are not year one players because their grimoire is like 2500 to 3500.

3 RepliesK/d doesn't mean squat. Trust me i have a shitty k/d but im a decent guardian
-
Year 1 all day yo!
-
All my characters are the originals. I'm a beta player. My Warlock was my first character and at one point I had a .6 k/d on him. It has taken along time to get it to where it is now. I remember those first two IB with no Suros, no Vex getting straight murdered every single game.

Supremacy for the win?

Edited by SweetOrngVegRoot: 4/8/2016 12:52:22 AMEven if I reset to fix my characters' ugliness (Since Bungie has no re-editing lol)? My warlock is the only one who hasn't been reset, I've changed both my hunter and titan several times c: I don't care much for stats though anyway since they're not always accurate (As your post also states)
-
No resets, no regrets. Been here since the start. Built 2 alts as extra vault space but then started to run them and appreciate the other classes. Dreaded crucible but I wanted 3 Little Words more than any other gun so I went in and it was a struggle for the crucible marks but I got that gun and I will never scrap it. Somewhere along the way I learned to like crucible. I have never complained about a class, super, or weapon. My motto has always been " Adapt or Perish" . They can make all the changes they want. It won't phase a yr1 for too long. We are Chaos.

2 RepliesI reset my characters but only to start new with my friend who got ttk so zip it biud. Keep your ignorance to yourself.
-
I mean, it would be difficult with the OG VEX Mythoclast back then killing everyone, and you didn't have onel
-
2 RepliesIs this for real? Who cares? Muted

After about 4 months of playing PvP, all 3 of my characters are neutral. I'm never resetting characters. I like to measure my progress and see how far I've come.

Day 1 player here, had 2 warlocks for the longest time to farm lvl 30 and 32 gear in the raids. My third character, a hunter, that i didnt play much because managing 2 was already a lot of time. Deleted my second warlock and created my titan eventually, now have an epic warlock (my main) 1 hunter decently geared and a titan who is still lvl 25 and needs to start his ttk journey, just dont get myself to lvl him up. At least i have so much high lvl warlock gear i can lvl up my hunter and titan to high light level on april 12th when the 1 on 1 infusion hits

My medal score and my grimore are insultingly low for a Y1'er.

I reset my Titan once just for the low level experience. It felt refreshing
