The title says it all. If you use the Doctrine of Passing you have absolutely no gun skill. It's range is as broken as the OG Last Word (which I loved). It needs to be fixed and fixed quick.

I still have to LOL a little bit about you people whining for balance. There's no weapon that if everyone used it would be the absolute Pinnacle of balance. Yet there are still more complaints
-
It's a very low skill weapon, range is incredibly stupid, and the stability is cancer.
-
True because it's too easy to use and can still kill quick with all body shots
-
3 RepliesWait you mean a pvp earned weapon is great in pvp? Wow imagine that. Maybe you should just get better?
-
1 ReplyYour just jelly that you don't have it. My last 5 crucible games I have not been killed by it.
-
1 ReplyWhat is a doctrine
-
1 ReplyLook at all you ho's crying over a video game better get your ass back on that corner before I slap the shit out of you
-
1 ReplyIf one ever states a weapon takes no skill I automatically know the op has no to poor skills, I'll give you it's the perfect way to whine you don't even have to back it up if whining is your goal (if whining is not your goal then quit doing it!!)

It's range is as broken as the OG Last Word
I really hate it when salty kids run their mouth about something they don't know anything about. For sake of clearing up the confusion shared by OP and his kind, I will explain why Doctrine's range is not broken. In Destiny, the term "broken" is used to describe things that are not working as intended. For example, in early TTK there was an exploit that allowed Sunbreakers to throw 50+ hammers per super. That was "broken". There was another exploit, discovered later, that allowed Nightstalker to have infinite tethers. Again, "broken". Both of these were quickly "fixed", or made to work as intended. Now let's go over the range stat. Range does 2 things. The first is damage drop off. The more range u have, the further put you can go before you start doing less damage. The second is accuracy. Imagine a cone (call it an accuracy cone), projecting out from the barrel of your gun. This cone gets wider the further out your target is. Any bullet fired will land in a random location inside this cone. The higher the range stat, the smaller the cone, the more likely your bullet will hit. When someone claims that Doctrine's range is not working as intended, they are only look at the cover of the book, not the words in it. They see the Doctrine's range stat and say "hey, this has a range stat of like 10 (I dunno the exact number. I just look at the bar and guess). But, it just killed me at range where only something with 15+ range should've been able to do consistently". What they are missing is why the Doctrine is so good. They are forgetting that Doctrine has Persistence. For those who are unfamiliar with this perk, Persistence is "This weapon grows more accurate the longer it is fired". In other words, your accuracy cone gets smaller, the longer you fire. Thus, increasing it's ability to kill at longer ranges. Doctrine's is effective at the range it is because Persistence allows it to be. Without Persistence, it would be horrible outside of TLW range. Pick up a Doctrine and don't upgrade to Persistence. You will see a very noticeable difference in how consistently it kills further out. So, you could say that Persistence is not working as intended. You could say that it is too helpful, and not what Bungie had in mind when they created it (though we are not Bungie, so if anyone were to say that, it would be assumption, not fact). But most importantly, you cannot say that Doctrine has broken range, because it's range is working exactly as intended. #Knawledge #TitanMasterRace

8 RepliesOp carries a sniper on all three characters and says doctorine needs no skill? Nor do snipers that are used as crutches and if you let a dop guy get close then that's your loss. Muted
-
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
5 RepliesYou aim and shoot with it just like any other gun. Does this mean using my Inward lamp (Which I love <3) makes me have no gun skill?
-
10 RepliesWow, the amount of DoP owners in here bringing their trolls out is the real OP thing here. Seriously, DoP is a broken piece of shit that deserves a nerf. If a legendary primary can outgun ALL of its exotic weapon counterparts, then it is truly in a very broken spot and needs reworking. DoP owners are just scared shitless that their crutch is about to be taken away. This debate is much like the sunsinger nerf debate. Those running it are scared shitless of a nerf that they deserve while the rest of community looks at them with no pity. If you run DoP, you are what's wrong with Destiny.

1 ReplyBut what gun takes "skill"? Serious question, any mid- to high stability gun takes very little "gun skill" honestly positioning is more difficult than controlling the gun, hence why im very average cause i like to stand in front of bullets :)
-
3 RepliesI wouldn't say that, I'm very selective about when I use my doctrine. Mida will -blam!- it up at range, TLW will -blam!- it up CQC. I'd also rather have a TLW on if I'm being rushed with a roaming super. I think of it as my mid-range weapon, because yes, I feel it's effective at a longer range than it should be, but it's outclassed in a lot of situations. Oftentimes I'd even rather use my finnala's peril. it's a very good weapon, no doubt, but I wouldn't say it needs no skill, or that it's particularly OP, just that it's perhaps too useful at ranges that autos perhaps shouldn't be, due to the laserbeam stability of counterbalance.

Except I've been out gunning doctrine with sidearms all iron banner.... http://postimg.org/image/qcv6buov5/

You get that thing from trials right? Maybe I should smash my head against the wall that is trials of Osiris in hopes of getting it.
-
See's Complaint Expected mediocre stats See's no Doctrine Owned OP is Jelly
-
No skill? The game makes you hold a piece of plastic for long periods of time, multi task and move a reticule over another player and continue to multitask your fingers into shooting. If that is not skill then what is?
-
No way man, I have been waiting for this gun archetype to have a place in PvP and now everyone seems to be upset when a godly auto rifle actually graces us with its presence, which by the way can only be earned in the Trials of Osiris, like seriously its the Trials for gods sake, where all the sweaty players in the community try their pants off so they can wreck noobs with their newly earned Doctrine of Passing. This gun doesn't need any nerfing what so ever, people need to stop complaining.
-
1 ReplyIn PvP it's above average. In PvE it's absolutely terrible. It evens out. Besides my SUROS ARI-45 beats it almost every time. Higher range and almost max stability. I practically snipe with it.
-
Anybody else feel like the gun staggers a lot or is it just me?
-
4 RepliesI wrecked everyone with my doctrine lol. It's Hella funny.
-
I agree, if I think a Trials match is going to be super sweaty I pull mine out. Makes things a little easier lol.
-
Here's the issue There's no logical correlation between a weapons ease of use and it's time to kill. The easiest weapons have the fastest times to kill
-
I still want one...
