Name something historically significant that happened on your birth year

For me it's 1990 and the only thing I can think of, off the top off my head is the year Germany reunified and also won the Fifa World Cup, this was more to do then just winning the World Cup because it was only 6 months or less since the Berlin Wall had been taken down and Germany had reunified, this was one of the biggest events in history, nearly 100 million people becoming one again is a powerful thing, I'm not even German too lol, now.. What you got? Edit- I noticed many people saying 9/11, I'm guessing most mean 2001 which of course was tragic and a huge event but just know that there are two significant 9/11's, the other being 1973 in chile where a coup d'état took place and the president was killed, it may be important to note this as I'm sure many were affected by this event too
Mod edit: Moved to #Offtopic
