... It's not free dlc, I paid for mine!!! Not sure how you people buy things.
It's "free " if it hasn't cost me any money.
Some of you need to get some business lessons or more widely available, common sense.
Smh.
Edit: I'll write a small example.
I have used this today
I'm on a holiday in the Canaries, I booked and paid for my hotel as half board. Which means breakfast and lunch included.
Now, morning comes and I'm going for breakfast. I enjoy my breakfast and leave the cafe after I'm finished with my breakfast . Did I get my breakfast for free???
Afternoon time, I go back for lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal. Once again, I leave the restaurant without paying. Did I get my lunch for free??
The answer is No!! I didn't get it for free!!!
I paid for the whole -blam!-ing package!
Nothing on life is free, nothing.
Edit : This!!
Correct, Bungie actually state that this update isn't free in the weekly update
If you have Destiny: The Taken King, the April Update is included with your purchase.
So yes, we did actually pay for this
Edit:
Looks like the salty kids are gone to sleep. Some sensible replies from mature guardians. Thank you all none-the-less.
Final edit: I got what I wanted. See you all star side. Good night.
xoxxox for salt farmers
Sequel edit: I love your comments!!!
LAST EDIT AND I AM OUT:: I HAVE TWO EMBLEMS TO GIVE AWAY TO YOU GUARDIANS FOR BEING SUCH A FANTASTIC COMMUNITY.
THEY ARE THE EMBLEMS I HAVE ON MY TITAN AND HUNTER. JUST TYPE SOMETHING NICE BELOW AND I WILL MESSAGE IT TO YOU. THE NICEST SENTENCE WINS. TWO WINNERS WILL BE SELECTED.
NO SODIUM PLEASE.
THIS IS TO SHOW MY APPRECIATION TO YOU. I WILL MESSAGE THE CODES TO YOU, IF IT WORKS IT WORKS IF IT DOESN'T TO BLAME ME. I HAVE ONLY USED IT ONCE ON MY ACCOUNT.

Edited by PhoenixlSlash: 3/28/2016 6:49:42 AMWe paid for TTK, not the incomming content.... so...... FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
The bottom line is additional money doesn't have to be spent as it did with TDB and HOW. Not sure why or how this became a necessary discussion...

*sigh* it's free because I was something that wasn't promised with the original purchase. They never once said that we'd get an update with even more content after our purchase when TTK was released. Think about it in another context. Imagine that you buy a box of a chocolates. You go ahead eat your chocolates then after some time the company announces that they will be making a larger box chocolates. This box contains more but instead of making you pay the difference they'll be spending you a smaller box with all the extra chocolates inside. They could charge for it! It's well within their right because it was never promised but instead they're giving it out for no charge.

Edited by Qore 4: 3/27/2016 6:44:00 PMIt's a pointless argument. Is the glass half empty of full? It's both. Both are correct. I could say with your meal comp example. There's places that actually do comp your breakfast for free. Let's say in July it costs $5000 for a week at the rAZesort. Since it's July a special promotion is going on because it's the summer. This is around when you were going anyway so you book it and receive a free breakfast. Contrary you could book in June without the promotion for the same price of $5000 which doesn't offer a free breakfast. In this case the meal is free and used as incentive to get more buisness. 2 groups of people paying and getting free breakfast is more profitable than just having 1 group come and have to pay for their breakfast. The resort also gets good publicity from this, meaning you'll probably tell your friends how cool it was you got a free breakfast and what a great time you had. My point is there is some free shit out there. You just gotta know where to look.

5 RepliesThey could charge u for it. They are not. It is free.
-
2 RepliesBut you knew you were getting breakfast and lunch with the package you purchased. You didn't know that you were getting content at no extra charge when you bought TTK. Yes, you paid for TTK by itself, but Bungie didn't tell you that you would be getting more content free of charge later in Y2 when you bought it. So you paid for TTK, and TTK only, not the content they are providing you with in the near future.
-
I'm so glad it's free
-
So tired of these stupid copycat threads every day. Look genius...its simple, when we all bought ttk, that's all it was. There was no promise of future content if you bought ttk. WE ALL AKREADY GOT WHAT WE PAID FOR. But fine.....it isn't technically free. It is however absolutely free for players who have ttk, which is the way the word "free" is being used. No need to write a book to try & prove a useless point that nobody cares about anyway.

You look cute today :)

Bump. Nice story and would love to win one of the emblems

1 ReplyDude, I honestly don't care. I say it's free because there is no extra price added onto the Taken King DLC for the update.
-
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm can I stop what I haven't started?
-
I never bought any microtransactions, so it is free in reference to my wallet (post-taken king expansion).

9 RepliesIts free. Its an update patch not DLC. If you fail to see this then you are a dumb idiot retard.

1 ReplyJust to point out. In your example, you purchased a hotel package which included breakfast and lunch. You knew about the content before you purchased it. This means it was not free to receive breakfast and lunch. A lot of people were wondering if Bungie was abandoning Destiny in favor of development on the next game. We had received all that had been promised when they marketed The Taken King. Which means we got our room for the weekend and our breakfast and lunches we expected would come with the price. Crimson doubles, SRL, and this new update are all bonuses which we had no idea would be coming. We did not expect them as a reason to buy TTK. While any investment in Destiny (expansions, eververse, etc.) should reasonably be assumed is partially going towards the continued development of a 10 year game, it's not guaranteed or outlined. Free is a relative term. It was free in terms of not spending any additional money on the game if you have bought the year 2 version of the game. Just like iron banner was a free update to the game if you bought year 1 version. If you haven't purchased TTK, then you have made a decision not to further support the development of this game at this time. Therefore, you no long have access to new updates which continue to advance the game world. So, it is free and it isn't free. Everything does cost someone something. What it boils down to is a matter of perspective. Both are right, but just focusing on different aspects of it.
