EDIT : Top 10 Reasons Destiny Has Disappointed Us (#'s 10-4)

I agree.

I disagree.

Before reading : Make sure to read the entire damn post before commenting. I will troll you so hard if you make a comment that is clearly explained in the original post. Understand that this is both an opinion piece, and a style piece. This post isn't garbage just because you disagree with me, it also isn't correct just because I said so. If you're going to both disagree with me AND comment about it, give good reason so. Otherwise you're getting a trolling marathon. That said; enjoy the list. 10. The Loot Is Horrendous We are all aware that the loot is horrible. I can't think of any game that has ever existed, that I have ever played, and the loot has dropped even worse than this. Not even Old School runescape ever had drops this bad. When I played Old School runescape, I would get angry if it took a few hours for a rare item to drop. I would start to think about quitting if it took a few weeks for an ultra rare to drop. Now I have this game, where both me and my friends can wait up to 6 or 9 months and STILL NEVER EVEN SEEN a drop of certain items; let alone some of them being secretly blocked off and not even know it. Don't even get me started on how crappy the random rolls are on drops that you actually get, if you ever even get them. 9. The Progression System Is Anti-Progressive Sans the raid activities, while still being very lackluster, almost all progression feels like you're going backwards. Think back to the beginning of the game (Taken King), you fight through the story from level 34, you end up at about 38 or 39 if you didn't "stack up materials before the DLC dropped", and thereafter have a host of new missions to complete leading up to normal mode raid. You complete the raid and unlock new weapons and armor starting at level 300 light and up. Eris also begins to fodder in Court of Oryx missions to help you out. But to this day, any, and ALL missions post TTK Story and Normal Mode Raid (barring the actual raid itself) actually gives you worse gear than the activity that came before it. No, seriously, stop. Stop reading. Stop breathing. Don't even live. Okay. You can forget how much those last two lines don't make sense and continue reading and existing. New activities since launch give you even worse gear than what you could earn outright in the first few months. Now I realize that Challenge Mode and SRL and "sometimes" Iron Banner are exceptions to this rule, but with SRL gone, Iron Banner only once a month, and Challenge Mode honestly coming too little, too late; the game has been stale since Week 6. The last 4 months we have been past the expiration date drinking chunky milk. :( Bungie wants the grind and addiction so riddled in this game, they offer as little reward as possible. 8. The Year 1 Lock Out I'll incorporate both the players and equipment at the same time here. Some of you may have already forgotten, but Year 1 players are completely locked out of almost every single possible activity imaginable right now, including some activities the already paid for prior. Even worse, they lost their battle to get anything back, and to this day either suffer in the old system, or have left entirely without ever having a thought to return. This blatant betrayal is one of the most foul things I've ever seen in a video game franchise in my life. On top of that, the forced separation has also left Year 2 players without Year 1 gear ascending. I honestly believe that the true reason, above all reasons, why Year 2 players cannot have Year 1 weapons, is because no one could design a system where Year 1 items could carry forward in a shared system that segregates Year 1 players from Year 2 players, without the Year 1 players being able to find a loop hole of ascending their gear without purchasing Year 2 content. 7. Time Gated Content Even if you try to forget that Bungie completely screwed over their Year 1 Veterans that (at the time) didn't want to push past Vanilla or Year 1 DLCs; and only focus on the future, they also screwed over the people who did pay for The Taken King. A huge reason why Destiny was so successful was the BRAND NAME behind the Bungie franchise. I honestly believe that if any other name and/or company tried dishing out the same content, it wouldn't have been as successful without the Bungie legacy. That being said, ADVERTISEMENT and HYPE are the leading factors for pre-order sales and continued growth of the Destiny brand and franchise. People see their youtube videos, twitch streams, and promotional art, and they just get glued to the product, money in hand. Imagine buying this product with those things in mind, only to find that more than half of the material does not exist when you play the game. A few months later, you find out that the content is being held ransom behind a time-gate that only the creators know about, of which only they can influence. Only by playing on very specific days, with very specific checkpoints (both of which completely secret as well) could you ever hope to stay in the loop. Basically. Play every single day as much as possible and search every nook and cranny. Otherwise, you're going to be left behind. As of this writing, 40% of the Taken King material still remains locked behind a time-wall, even 7 months after the original launch of the DLC. 6.) Non-Proportionate Pricing Now anyone can say "you can't put a price on a personal opinion" - and that is probably true in any language. However, let's try to be freaking 'real' here, alright. The main game was 60 bucks. The eastern world paid even more. The expansion pass was "probably worth" the 40 bucks if you got it early, and indeed played both the material to the full extent in both DLCs, however, separately, they were complete rip-offs with the price. And as massive as The Taken King is in response to its predecessors, it sold for nearly the same price as the core game, and everyone can agree it did not provide as much NEW MATERIAL as vanilla did. Again, the Eastern world paid more. Don't even get me started on microtransactions. You could have spent more than FOUR TIMES your entire investment on all game material simply on emotes, horns, and bicycles at this point without even getting started on repeat-masks from Halloween. TL;DR for this section. Dollar for Dollar, you're getting screwed. 5.) Nerfing This is an extremely sensitive topic for a lot of people. I am included in this and have my own opinions on specific details. That aside, I'm going to keep this short, because I'm not here to start a debate. Plain and simple, Bungie has completely listened to the wrong crowd of loud minorities when incessantly nerfing everything fun and effective in this game. Between cutting the raw damage of shotguns in half across all specs, to completely destroying the fusion rifle race of weapons; everything far and few between has been hit at one point to make the meta of this game the least enjoyable I have ever seen of any franchise, ever. There is literally no balance, and while I don't have a clear answer in the muck they have created, the only thing I can say is that they should reset the entire meta, start over from scratch, and be very unbiased the second time around. 4.) No Separation Of Environment and Crucible At first glance, you might think this should be number 5. While one side of that is true, don't forget about the consequences of having blurred lines. Nerfs solely based on Crucible activities, affecting Environment players even more negatively than the preceding Crucible woes that brought said change in the first place; there is another cruel fact often forgotten that is far worse for the game. First being content. The raid can only go so far, and that is the pinnacle of the DLC. The drops suck. The depth of the actual activities is lackluster. Advancement is nearly impossible, with most 320 loot coming from activities NOT BEING THE RAID. People shy away from Environment as is because there is nothing to do. Taken King reused pretty much everything from Vanilla sans the Dreadnaught. Trials of Osiris has forced what little hardcore players that remain to YouTube, Twitch, and otherwise promote the game selfishly. Cons, money scams, improper inflation of activity; all spawned from the games one and only outlet for Precipice activity. This all might seem confusing, I'm actually starting to get confused myself, but the main point is : Environment has stagnated. Crucible offers the only accepted "Top Dog" scenarios. Game changes are being made solely on Crucible. Environment is being destroyed with no counter-force, or additional content. People from both sides are being forced into a melting pot that needs to be two separate, fresh gardens. TL;DR, they way the game stands, you're either on the "winning" side, or the "get lost" side. And the worst part is, you don't get a vote unless you have the highest K/D It's like no matter how you play this game, you always make the wrong choice. Your left as unfulfilled and confused as this explanation I just gave you. ______________________________________________________________________________ Sorry. Massive post is massive. • You forgot Destiny sycophants kissing Bungie's butt and telling them everything is OK. Oh, wait..., sorry it seems you did get that one, "Plain and simple, Bungie has completely listened to the wrong crowd of loud minorities..."

    • I'm was thinking of just flat out quitting Destiny soon. It's just ridiculous what Destiny has come to, and seeing it like this is just horrendous. Bungie did amazing with all the Halo's. But Destiny was at it's prime in House of Wolves. TTK brought new shit, but the fact that Bungie thought the live team (which had 2 people working on it), could provide half a years worth of content. No. Bungie was not planning on making a new DLC this year, they wanted to release Destiny 2. But that changed because the live events were lack luster as fuck, and not very useful. With the new loot system where you fight RNG x2 for loot, and the right light/rolls, the crucible being nearly unplayable because of kids that roll on a K-Mart connection, and SBMM making you sweat every game, Bungie shot themselves in the stomach, and it's bleeding out now. But we're now trying to watch them heal their own wound. Bungie fucked up big time. It's ashame to see what Destiny has become, and what it could have been. Bungie is just taking too many wrong turns. They're progressively moving backwards trying to half-ass the fixes. I love Bungie, I always have loved their games, but Destiny is just one of the biggest mistakes ot gaming history. So much has gone wrong, and the devs show so little communication to their community, it's just sad. And the devs don't even care about Destiny half the time, it's just another paycheck for them. They don't care about quality. Bungie, you dropped the ball in Y2. And you've shot yourselves, and we're watching you heal the gaping wound, which isn't working.

        • Nerfing. The game was fun once, but then the crybabies came.

        • I completely agree with all of this. The only things that keeps me playing is gunplay.. Which is really good. Sans detection issues, fun game time with friends, and the music and visuals. That being said, the only time I play it anymore is when I cant play the Division or the witcher.

        • I agree and since ttk I can't take this game seriously. I love the machanics and just hope they can redeem themselves with destiny 2, there's to much elitism at the moment and almost wish they will make it more simple and casual.

Missing the number one reason that made the one activity I could still very much potentially enjoy in Destiny a ruin: - lag shots failing to register with lack of dedicated servers :[ I'd love playing at least the crucible portion of the game if the above was dealt with...even nerfing might change course being that inaccuracies in damage registration that major and exploitable P2P lag can introduce would no longer be part of the equation. Skimmed through all two threads...surprised to not have seen it mentioned anywhere.

        • Don't agree. Only one that is an issue is the nerfing, but for the reasons stated below. The crybabies and the toxicity it produces in the forums. However, I play games for the fun. Not the reward. If I don't like it, I don't do it. I think half the problem is people treat this game like some form of penis extension. Who gives a turd if you have a k/d of +1.0? It won't get you a job and it won't solve climate change.

          • Why is destiny great and had so many people play it for hundreds of hours. Even though it has faults, lots of faults the game play is fun, engaging, smooth and probably the best I've played ever, it never feels clunky I feel as though I have a lot if control and the concept is something that has been done this well before it. Except for a few games such as borderlands but even games like that run out if content just as fast

            • Finished reading it all and I'm glad I did. Most these morons don't have the attention span to get all the way through it, but everything you said needed to be said, and Im actually pretty disgusted at the pole results. You're spot on. So spot on. In fact, I can't remember ever reading a more spot on post since I've been on these forums, and that even includes my own. Idk still don't know if I'd say it's the worst game ever, but it's definitely an ultimate failure and disgrace to the gaming industry. And the BungieVision combo is, without question, the most vile, disgusting, and manipulative gaming company out there. I defended them for a long time, but since TTK, it's clear that they're the worst. Bravo on your post. Preach!

                      • Only thing that annoys me is all the waiting I have to do to get my exotic weapons. Every time I think I'm gonna get a gun I get a good old wait till next week step quest step.

                      • One guy said once: "Bungie built an incredible and awesome Ferrari just to realize that they don't know how to drive it" (and to crash it slowly) I stopped playing since last week for first time in 1& 1/2 year and I couldn't believe that it would happened, but they took too long to release the rest of the content I pay for. This is how they are going to manage time-gating on the next years...well I don't have time for that... I got every exotic except first curse (not following that stupid quest) I reached 320 with all characters, I deleted and created new characters on each class I got every set of armor and obviously I got tired of waiting for new stuff just to be enjoyable weeks before new dlc or whatsoever. Thanks anyway bungie (those WERE good fun times). thanks for swords, new subclass, and TTK hype, if you messed up when Tree of Coins came out....well that was not our fault!

                        • Super Agree with #8! If I would've know what TTK would hold I would never have bought it! But if I hadn't I wouldn't have been able to do anything I paid for with the original DLC's! Not only that, but also all your Y1 armor becomes less than half as effective as it was with the decrease in intellect, discipline, and strength!

                        • While I do agree, this is still one of the best games to come around in a long time, it's just a shame it's flaws turn so many people away. The biggest thing for me is that they made all year 1 activities obsolete, therefore giving us less content with each expansion.
