Best Oryx Strategy

So, I haven't seen anyone spell this, out and it is frustrating when people are clueless of good methods for taking Oryx down in 1-2 tries. I have spelled out my strategy so that everyone can see what I believe takes the best parts of the "No knight" strategy and the "Kill the Ogres" Strategy and combines them into one relaxing, smooth strategy. Step 1: Assign platforms in the beginning to four people. The platform each person is standing on represents the blight they are responsible for detonating (every time regardless of where Oryx is). It also represents where they should run during the mortar phase (the fourth man is a floater and may wish to run up top. If this happens, the relic person can take the floater's platform during this phase). The bottom three people should be assigned a number (1, 2, and 3). The person assigned number 1 should always go to the platform that oryx is at. Number 2 should be at the next platform, and number 3 should be on the last platform. (Remember, your position at this part may change every time, but it does not change which blight you are responsible for (assigned at the beginning) STEP 2: Generate Orbs using Tethers on the Thrall that spawn in at the beginning (All hunters should tether the thrall at the same time) Step 3: BOTH TITANS: Floaters stay up top with blessing of light and alternate popping their bubble each round. DO NOT USE WEAPONS OF LIGHT. If you can't kill the Ogres fast enough, you should not be floating. 1 TITAN / 1 HUNTER: Titan should pop bubble each round. Hunter should tether the first Ogre to generate 3-4 orbs up top for the titan. Rinse and repeat each round. 1 TITAN / 1 Warlock: Titan pops bubble and warlock uses radiance. Titan lets Warlock get last couple of shots so that he spawns 4-8 orbs each round. People on platforms should kill the first 3 light eater knights before leaving their platform regardless of if the relic holder has the aura. (You may want to jump on top of deathsinger platforms if ads are an issue for you and jump down when relic holder returns to middle) FLOATERS must make sure the last knight goes down before joining everyone in the middle. This may require you to shoot Oryx from up top at times, but poses no risk of death. Step 4: After you stagger Oryx, clear out all of the ads in the front and back (no rush). Once this is done, walk to your orbs, call out when to walk into the orb, count to 3.5 and then run back to the middle. Step 5: Rinse and repeat (Do not tether Oryx when he is inside the shadow, it will cause him to swing twice) Feel free to leave feedback. Help end the chaos that is occuring with random group encounters. Like the post if you find it helpful!

  • That has been my strategy since day one on hard mode. Way easier now that everyone is higher light.

What do the Light Eater Ogres even do??? EDIT: For people who don't know it, like me. Not knowing what they do leads people to believe, despite what others say, that they don't have to take out the ogres.

  • Step 3 is bad advice Titan(s) pop a bubble in middle of death singers, so when runner calls out he has the relic, all platform people can dash inside and get blessing. Then turn around and pepper any knights they missed in a safe manner. If missed at all. Am not keen on titans being up top, it comes across as selfish for people who don't have the protection. And the oryx fight is a team effort. Aid your team, not your self.

      • Favorite strat: 1st. - At the beginning, have hunters tether thrall and generate orbs. 2nd. - Assign 3 players a 1.2.3 method for the platforms. Weakest player being second, strongest 1st. 3rd. - 2 Titans stay middle of two deathsinfer platforms. One with weapons, one with blessing. These two kill the ogres leaving the platform holders to focus the knights and ad'd. 4th. - after the light has been grabbed, all players meet in the middle under the blessing and weapons bubbles with the Titans while the runner steals the aura. 5th. - kill the vessel, any remaining Knights and clear ad'd waiting to stagger oryx. 6th. - stagger Oryx and kill most ad's or all. 7th. - count to 3, grab bombs. Run back and ToM oryx. 8th. - run from mortars!!!! 9th. - repeat steps 3-8. 10th. - kill Knights first and stop thrall from entering. If you can pop a blessing bubble in the middle of the shadow arena. No tethers. 11th. - repeat 2-7 & 10. 12th. - finish oryx off!!! (Unfortunately reaping a horrible loot drop system...at least in my case..) ;)

        • Great guide! Have done both strats (no knights, and knights). I have to say the no knight strat is a little tougher to organize but i prefer it with certain groups.

          • Too complicated. We leave front right vacant and have the platform owner with the relic above automatically cover front right. 2 dps people up top, one responsible for detonating front right.

            • Any strategy that results in Oryx dying is the best.

              • We pretty much do the same thing, with the exception of step 5. We tether him when three people get in the bubble and let loose as many bullets as we have.

great minds think alike. this is exactly the strat that we did to beat oryx 3x last weekend and will be using again this weekend. the people who disagree with this adaptation of the no knights strategy are just too thick headed to accept that there might actually be different strategies than what they are used to doing. but in the end, as long as oryx dies, that's really all that matters. old sales adage: "if it works, it's great. if it doesn't, it sucks."

                      • Totally agree with the 2 permanent guys on top.. preferably 2 titans . And agree with the numbering system as far as the guys jumping platforms.. but leave ogres alive everybody go up top stagger oryx kill ogres warlocks grab farthest bombs.. possibly both if they close together.. done and done....
