Bungie - Not everyone has issues with Microtransactions, please expand the possibilities!

I know this is not the current popular opinion on the boards but, I personally have zero issues with microtransactions. I hope they evolve to be more than just emotes and include cool custom cosmetic items such as shaders, ships, speeders, particle effects that can be applied to gear (I want a fire particle effects to be added to my armor, not just my sword) and even include convenience items as well such as possibly glimmer/marks/etc. I have played well over a thousand hours, I have always had 3 characters at max level as soon as content drops so I am not some casual gamer. But if you told me I could pay and take out some of the "grind" to instead focus on the shit thats fun and enjoyable with my friends. I would do it in a heartbeat and have no issues with others doing it. Nor should you. If you can still achieve the same/similar options grinding it out, then thats your choice. If I choose to spend 5, 10, 20, or 100 on something that saves me time and brings me joy then why does it matter. I would have paid to gather mats vs spending hours patrolling for them. Wouldn't you have? I also play Neverwinter and have 2 max level characters there, I pay for their VIP program. Why? Because it saves me time and energy loading between zones, managing banks, traveling, injury kits, etc. None of it is game breaking, but it DOES effect game play. It saves me time and makes my time playing more enjoyable which is worth it to me and many others. This doesn't need to be cosmetic only, it can be things that effect game play without breaking the game. And for those trying to someone justify some "pure" existence, simply have those items be unique and you can tell if someone has or has not spent some money. Guarantee you still end up playing with them and you find that most of them have plenty of skill, they just chose to spend their time gaming where they want and their money to achieve the rest. Why does it matter to you and how does that effect your ability to enjoy the game as it is? I can only hope Destiny expands into areas like this as well. Including trading and further in game economy where you can earn "silver" from other in game currency or activities for those that wish to not use real money. EDIT* I also want to see real examples of how you think this is bad. If you just simply reply with "it will break the game" then you have not really thought through how it effects game play. Give REAL examples of how this actually hurts you or anyone else in their experience. I also want to see how my examples somehow constitute Pay to Win, it doesn't Pay to win means you HAVE TO PAY to succeed and win. That is not the case in any of my suggestions, they are pay for convenience. You can still do the daily and other activities and hit the mark cap in 3-4 days of your game play, you can STILL get the same stuff with reasonable effort not even having to go to crazy lengths. So why is that so bad if someone could buy up to the 200 mark cap with a few bucks? EDIT 2* Also, with the marks and glimmer concerns. Why is that an issue? Why is that really any different than the spark they already gave out to everyone to get to level 25 to try and get them to meaningful content. If someone wants to spend money on marks and enough of them to get their character to 250-280 with the vendor items now getting them to meaningful content why is that bad? How did that really effect anyone? We all are already there or close, wouldn't it be nice to not have had to do the same grind for your alts?I Edit 3* 300 Responses and we are starting to get some actual discussion. (looks like a moderator must have come in and cleaned house on some of the derogatory remarks that had no substance) Edit 4* I have never said I was right or wrong. Nor do I think there is an absolute answer in either direction. I posted this as a means to have a logical and thoughtful discussion of the topic instead of the 50 threads just saying the sky is falling with no real substance. In my opinion I think it could be good if handled appropriately. For everyone that has come in here just saying GTFO or something similar I am challenging them to use their mind and actually think through the topic. Some are doing so, some still disagree and that is fine. Some have changed their tune which is also fine. I also find it interesting there are quite a few people who would also support it.

Simple solution....leave the gaming world recognize you no longer fit in because the real world consumes your time....no slam on you, just anyone that don't have the time to play should be MATURE enough to accept that and live ...the world has moved on for you and those like you....come back and play when you have time....but don't justify buying gear or guns with a very intelligent conversation cause through all that you said it still sounds like don't have the time don't want to spend the time so I'm gonna whine until I can buy what I want....entitlement because you bought it now YOU want it your way.I can go on and on,and of course I expect a very suave answer laced with intelligent sounding language designed to confuse lay persons or to dazzle people(aka salesman)but bottoming is if you don't have time to play a game then Pan has to except that he's too old and hampered by the real world and needs to either leave neverland come back when life isn't so restrictive or fully embrace the grind find the time....and stop the whine. Just to give some background...I played eqoa (Everquest online adventures )for 2.5 years b4 life took it from me...kids wife work started consuming more and more till finally I left the gaming world one day just sat the controller down and never picked it up again....last couple of years my 20 year old son then had just graduated asks..."DAD you ever gonna game again like you did when I was a lil guy".....Dad picked up his controller again with Diablo 3 ffxiv and then finally destiny....now he complains he don't get any game time except when I'm sleeping or working

        • As long as it doesn't give you an advantage over players, I'm cool with it. (320 gear for example) They can have pay only gear at 280 that looks cool but doesn't have any other special qualities. (A basically reskinned sword that looks like a lightsaber) Marks and Mats I'm a little on the fence as it may affect future content but at the moment it just allows you to get all the faction items faster. You can't get something no one else has. Raid loot drop increases just gets you the gear faster but you stop wanting to do the raid sooner. You won't have anything to grind for and that is a major part of the game. I was super excited for TTK because I had already ground through everything from year 1. I had nothing to really work toward. Speeding that up just makes you bored later. Straying away from cosmetic only will either make it pay to win or let people chew through content faster.

If they sold specific gear they would probably make it better than other gear to make it worth buying. Also if they sell items to reduce the grind they might make grinding for players who don't buy the consumables longer.

But I don't not have enough to spend on in game stuff.. Although a class item that looks like a dollar bill would be cool.. And show others whose mommy paid for their content...

            • Dude OP totally agree with you, As long as it's a non-pay to win transaction count me in, if it eases on convenience then for sure I'll back it up. Good example on the never winter VIP package, it is exactly what is was designed for "Convenience" You see the not so familiar gamers here in the community have no proper explanation to what the "convenience" part of the micro-transaction does. How many threads have you seen now with people bitching about not getting the raid gear they wanted even after running 12+ king's fall runs with no luck at all. I'm betting you all those people crying for gear will indefinitely get the consumable items for increased chance for better drops from KF raid. The concept of RNG nullifies where "earning" is a must for these people. Because of this some people are lucky while some not so lucky. For the lucky ones (especially those who play for 18 hrs straight) they will complain for sure but what about the "losers" the unfortunate ones? As you already know luck won't last much longer and eventually those "lucky" players will have to buy these consumables for the ease of , again "convenience". So what I'm doing now is keeping tabs on players who have or have not complained about micro-shopping. If I see any one of them out of frustration or what so ever use the consumables for "ease of use" kudos to them but I will still point them out for being a hypocrite. Now to the PAY to WIN model. A few days back I've seen someone saying the exact same example as you did as a pay to win concept. It does effect the way you play but does it give you a better edge on others? The answer is yes and no. Yes, why is because compared to some others who play longer than us or others, when that person who has to grind on 12 hours to level up to max a full char, we can easily grind with the benefits in about 3 hours right? And again people it is out of "Convenience" Because some of us grownups, no not those who are not responsible enough besides paying the bills, don't have time to play 12 hours or so on destiny minus on our days off. When I mean by NO is because you got the CHOICE to buy this or not. Unfortunately every game involves a sort of "grind" or "RNG" BS base model nowadays but we don't have the whole day to grind now do we? PAY to WIN people just to clarify is by having OP gears right off the bat and that's on a F2P model MMOs. Why do you think people keep saying no to weapons being sold by ever-trading? I hope that won't happen. Was destiny F2P? Fuk no how many money did we lob on this for the past seasons? Roughly $160 dollars or more. It is just what people don't realize is that we can still get to our maximum characters and gear but what's clearly holding us back is the grind and the blasphemy of an "RNG" Now I want you guys to rethink once again especially those who claim to be on the bungie community for 10 or so years to re-think their answer. As I recall most of these MMOs nowadays are on a Microsoft computer. Go check some out (yes you Xbox and PS people I know for sure you have a CPU besides your console) and come back here with a broader aspect. Please try to look over all the online games out there that do this. If you think it is unfair then you are probably one of the lucky ones blessed by RNG and been grinding for as long as possible with less sleeping or care in the world. Just please, think about us who have responsibilities besides this game and not so fortunate with the drops and grind.

            • A well typed thought. I agree with you in so many ways, I will continue to play this game either way and hope to see many micro transactions in the future that add exp or loot bonuses. These will not effect current things as buying a gun/armor item at 310+ value.

                • I'm not a biased person and I think there are valid arguments on both sides. The problem lies in what concerns each party. Diehard gamers want the grind to be a part of the game while players with extra cash, not a lot of free time, and some lazy, want the grind to go away for a couple of dollars. The problem is with what Bungie and Activision want for the future and the driver of any company is money. The more money the better so whatever party makes the most money, the company will follow. This addition of micro transactions is proof that Bungie is testing the water. Another problem is a lot of these games allow purchase only items so you have to buy it to get it. This new system might turn 50% of people of from the game but if the average dollars per customer spent goes up 300% then it's a win for Bungie, a win for pay to win guys and a loss for everyone else.

                  • TBH I personally think that if they did what your purposing, it will actually kill the game faster for 2 reasons. 1. year one players will obviously become more angered by the fact that they had to work and grind to reach were they currently are while year two players have everything handed to them on a gold platter, I say gold because that platter is already silver, they don't seem to want to learn the game, don't hold any understanding of their skills and how to use their classes, i am tired of seeing sunbreaker titans in the raid when having bubble would be more helpful, why don't they use bubble? because they never bothered leveling it. Why didn't that warlock use self res? because he never bothered leveling it, they don't know anything and seem to refuse to learn. Having them just drop real money and buy everything we had to work for? that is a slap in the face and kick in the jimmies. 2. It makes gets everyone to that end game that much faster, by buying everything you hit end game, you get all the gear you could want within a couple of weeks if not one week and then what? you got all the raid items you could want, all the exotic's finish all the content, and then what? all it does is shorten the games life span, and as for this free dlc boshit people keep saying, think about it, what exactly is free about time locked missions?
