So everyone is in this uproar about the weapon balancing.....
Why?
Everybody had to have known that eventually weapons would change. Exotic hand cannons were far to good, autos and scouts desperately needed some love, Gjallarhorn and Black Hammer are the most over powered weapons in the game, Shotguns are insanely good all around.
Like, how did some of you not expect the game developer to, I dunno.... BALANCE things a little bit? Cause its mainly been:
Trials: Thorn or Last Word
IB: Thorn or Last Word
VoG: Gjallarhorn
Crotas end: Gjallarhorn
PoE: Gjallarhorn
Any strike mainly: Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn
Any Crucible game: Thorn or Last Word.
Like seriously, your surprised? I know that list isn't applicable to every player, but still. I'm pumped for the tuning to get here. Make PvP actually fun, make PvE somewhat of a challenge, give me a reason to not use fate bringer in pve, not to use red death for trials. Like, why are so many upset? It makes sense. Sure, ice breaker took a slight hit, but whose gonna use that over black hammer right now?
And before anyone says so, I have every weapon that was on the patch notes page, except the PS exclusives. I have every exotic and raid weapon so I can state how I feel every change was justifiable.
Comment, debate, share your thoughts. Lets get a decent discussion going. Thanks.

1 ReplyEdited by Wolf_Odinson: 7/20/2015 3:26:20 PMSpeaking only for myself, I'm not upset per say about the balancing and I'll still play Destiny after Taken King launches; all the way to the end of the line. That being said, the following "tongue-firmly-in-cheek", HUMEROUS overview somewhat expresses how I've felt since Bungie announced the update: Recruitment - Day 1: “Greetings (insert chosen character class here). Welcome to the tower, located above the last safe haven on Earth, a city which endures only under the aegis of the Traveler. I am the Traveler’s (self) chosen representative. You may call me the Speaker. I know that you must be, you are confused; that while your companion, ghost, has given you some information, your questions must be vast in number. Time however, is of the essence, so I will provide you with an overview to ease your confusion. The Traveler is, and has been, engaged in an all-out war with the Darkness, one waged across the vastness of time and space. Not just any Darkness either mind you, but THE Darkness; among whose minions are included gods, sons of gods, wizards, warlocks, time traveling robots and other beings. In a last ditch effort to prevent the loss of all life, you and others like you have been brought back from the dead – yes, you are a zombie – to act as the Traveler’s front line combat troops. Now, to aid you in your quest to defeat The Darkness once and for all; to save what remains of humanity and, not to sound overly melodramatic here, the possibility of future generations of humanity to come, we will equip you not with the best weaponry and armor available, but rather with sub-par gear. But be of stout heart noble (insert chosen character class here), for as you go forth and engage the enemies aligned against you, you will find the better equipment you need on the battlefield, amongst your foes; thereafter in the “down time” between skirmishes, be allowed to go on side quests to scavenge for materials necessary to upgrade them. Oh, and you’ll also be allowed to spend your own money as part of the upgrade process as well. Yes, we do have a gunsmith and yes, you are our “army” but we don’t believe in just giving you the best of what’s needed. To paraphrase, ‘We won’t give you a fish, we’ll teach you to catch fish’. It’ll be much more satisfying that way, believe me.” Conflict – Day 365: “(insert chosen character class here), the Traveler and I, along with your Vanguards and the faction representatives here in the tower have been simply amazed at the success you and your fellow zombies… oh, um sorry, ‘your fellow guardians’ have had in this despicable war against The Darkness and all its allies. So hearty kudos to all of you! Unfortunately, it seems you’re doing too well I’m afraid; in terms of the quality of ‘spectacle’ you and your compatriots are providing us… well, it’s just happening too fast. See, we’ve been pretty bored up here in our lofty perch and watching your struggles is the only significant form of entertainment we’ve had in a long time. It was fun at first, watching you traipse around with mediocre weapons and armor, struggling against the forces of evil, getting killed and resurrected again and again... some funny stuff let me assure you. But now you’ve acquired some absolutely phenomenal weapons, and you’re making mincemeat out of the competition… time and time again. You warriors and your fire teams, all equipped with incendiary MIRV rocket launchers, poison dart pistols, shotguns that just cause enemies to evaporate into clouds of crimson mist, etc., etc., etc. Don’t get me wrong, it’s compelling to watch, it’s just happening way too fast. Hard to savor the flavor when the meal’s gone in two bites, if you catch my drift. So here’s what the Traveler has decided to do… He/She/It is going to downgrade the weapons you’ve worked so hard to get, to upgrade; so that the battles will take longer again. Now yes, that whole ‘compelling viewing’ thing does play a part in the decision, but we’re also aware just how much you enjoy the thrill of battle. Kind of like being in Valhalla I’d bet, fighting to the death each day, drinking ale and singing songs each night, and doing the same thing again tomorrow, and the day after that and so on and so forth. Except this isn’t mythology my brave (insert chosen character class here). It’s really happening for you. And we’re just glad to be able to do what we can to help you continue to enjoy every day of it. No, there’s no need to thanks us. It’s our pleasure."

I agree with you 100%. It's funny to me how people say "don't nerf the GHorn and Hammer, just buff everything else." As if making more OP weapons will fix it. I for one hope that this helps balance the performance of all the weapons and weapon types. And at the end of the day the GHorn will still be one of if not the most powerful weapons in the game and Ice breaker will still regen ammo. No need to cry about it. Lol

1 ReplyThe only reason why BH was useable and popular is due to its infinite ammo is you have good aim. Without that, most snipers > BH. BH is now gonna be useless. Low ammo and no ability to reforge crappy perks on it,snapshot, mulligan etc. Any sniper is gonna be better. More ammo, better fire rate, ability to reforge good perks...

21 RepliesYou know why people use Fatebringer/Black Hammer/Gjallarhorn/etc. for Strikes? Because instead of actual bosses with good mechanics like Relics they give us Bullet Sponges like the Archon Priest, Valus, Sekrion, etc. That take a solid 20-30 minutes without those guns. If you want to be efficient and do it as fast as you can you use those weapons. Plus these strikes get repetitive so their replay value goes down after about 5 times of each strike. If they don't change how strikes work in TTK why should our weapons not be able to efficiently kill the bullet sponges they give us?
-
But what about us whose brains don't properly function??

9 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 7/19/2015 1:51:42 AMVex and Universal Remote are going to be negatively affected by nerfs. Hawkmoon hardly needed to be adjusted at all. SGA and Dreg's Promise remain untouched. G-Horn/Black Hammer/Ice Breaker are being reduced in effectiveness when we have situations like parades of hyper-tanky yellow enemies in 35 PoE being crammed down our throats or the fact that most bosses are dumb damage sponges who just waddle around in their safe zones. A level 35 yellow Vandal can easily absorb a hit from a G-Horn. A Vandal. The only reason these weapons are getting nerfed is to make you spend more time chipping away at bullet sponges. Not to encourage skill or teamwork, as such concepts are next to nonexistant in PvE save for Skolas/Raids. It'll still be the same bosses with the same lackluster chance at a reward... but with less effective specials/heavies. I know people will rage and say I don't have a brain, but I see more downsides than upsides. The PvP adjustments and AR buffs are two bright spots, but the tradeoffs make it bittersweet. It also makes me worry as to how they're going to treat the next set of highly effective weapons that emerge when TTK launches.

9 RepliesI am just surprised with ice breaker and hawkmoon. Also the black hammer nerf is one of the worst nerfs i have seen in my life. Now the bullets are taken from your mag? So, three headshots and your reward is not having to reload? That 1 second of not reloading better save my life

It's the end of an era most people complaining haven't been around long enough to remember the vex and suros era. Not until a month or so into the dark below did you see must have Gally posts on forums and lfg. Before that no one really gave two shits about it. I don't like everything about the new weapons balance either but I hope it will be better than the current state of things. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm here for the long haul I've played worse game people blow things out of proportion. Hoping this weeds out the cod dicks and they pack up and leave. Everyone wants easy kills that's not how it was intended guardians have shields in case nobody's noticed. Bungie may have dropped the ball on something in the game but it's hard to please everyone.
-
I completely agree with the weapon tuning honestly. We had it coming and there's nothing we can do now but to see how it plays out. Players will adapt, it will just take some time after the tuning.
-
Bungies reasoning for nerf is ass backwards. Ok lets use khovstov for the next 4 months and require everyone to be using it or kicked. By their past history of nerfs, they would nerf that because it would be the most used weapon.
-
Exotic handcannons maybe don't understand hand cannons as a gun type getting nerfed though just annoying but hey I'll live lol
-
After taken king I'm probably not even going to use galley as much as I have been using it

6 RepliesEdited by GemCutter: 7/19/2015 7:24:39 PM
Like seriously, your surprised?
If you had a brain that works you would be able to tell the difference between "your" and "you're."

1 ReplyYou have to retired the old dogs in order for the new taken king arsenal. Gally has reigned supreme for a year, I'm excited for newer better guns.
-
9 RepliesWeapons will never be balanced..... that's why this is being called "Weapon Tuning." The guns that are being tuned are the ones that are used most often..... because this game wasn't created to use a handful of weapons. People should take this as a way to understand all of their weapons in their vault instead of just having them as trophies. I'm not sure why every news that is posted has to be taken so negatively. These changes should help bring people out of the boredom of using the same guns over and over.
-
3 RepliesSo my brain works quite well and I read your post. So if a weapon functions well in a game people use it correct? And if you use a weapon in this game you should expect it to be ruined correct? Cause that is what I have learned. I hate seeing a single thread loving up on any of the weapons I like and use for constant feat that they will be ruined as well. Explain one last thing to me since my brain must have something wrong in there. How does the ruining the good weapons in the game improve it? Not the pvp or sandlot adjustments as those were for the most part what all were wanting so bad. I could have cared less but what ever the pve weapon balance LOL does nothing but cause players to shoot at the same tired poorly designed bullet sponges a little longer so they can show play time on reports but your brain seems to fail to see that is their real goal.

3 RepliesI've played mmos b4 so I'm used to this, you ride the meta build till the next one comes along, or you rail aginst the meta till what you use becomes meta then switch to something else. Best advice I can give peeps is keep everything you can cuz it might come full circle.

Go read my topic I created last.

Don't forget every crucible game either a shotgun with shot package or a final round sniper.
-
I was among the first to get a black hammer... and I'll be among the last.

Well said that man!

I went to like this but I already had it liked
