Iron Banner is described as a Crucible Event with level and damage advantages enabled; however there is't really a difference between a 30's health points and a 32's health points. I've seen low levels be able to kill me (a 32) which I don't think should be possible. Iron Banner should be an event for the elite guardians with the best armor and weapons. The only other enemy that should have a fair chance at killing me is another 32. I've also seen people using Found Verdicts and one shotting me over and over again even though it's max dmg is 300. 331 weapons should have an obvious advantage over lower dmg weapons.
DISCLAIMER: I know I'm going to get hate for this post but try to keep it friendly.

There's a difference! Can't shoulder charge level 32s as I'm a 31
-
2 RepliesTrue i got sniped by a lvl three...
-
It definitely feels like level doesn't matter much this round. I thought maybe because more people are 32 now but i was doing just as well on 30 as i was as a 32 (lowered gear to upgrade it).
-
32's with maxed gear should crush IB. 31's and below should either suck it up and be really good or just play crucible instead of IB if it's too hard. I was in a game where a 27 with pocket infinity went and had the most points on his team over 32's that wee on his team that should never happen in an event that specifically states to bring your best gear because it matters.

If a 28 using a shot gun kills a 32, Iron Banner is still broken
-
2 RepliesDamn liberals. Don't bring your anti-gun and smoking laws into my crusible!
-
2 Replies2 more damage to a person one level below you. It doubles each level. For example, my Hawkmoon averages 90 crit on 32's, 92 on 31's, and 94 on 30's. So it is true.

2 Replies331 is just 10% up from 300. A powerful 300 weapon, such as found verdict, should still be useful.
-
I think you are right but Bungie always tries to cater for everybody. I didn't feel any difference between using a 331 or a 300 weapon. It also didn't matter that I didn't use the raid helmet and therefore fought as a 31. The only thing I did see was the extrem lag. fighting a full team of red bars is no fun at all....

5 RepliesEdited by DISN: 2/23/2015 7:52:05 PMI had a fun time getting K/Ds of 4.00+ every match when I was only 27 and getting matched against level 30/31s during my very first Iron Banner this year. That's what you deserved you over-grinding pieces of... yeah! EDIT: For anyone wondering, I was using a Primed SUROS JJJ-76 and that thing only maxes to 267 damage. So basically what I'm saying is "git gud." The Iron Banner is balanced in a way so that we don't only see Thorns and SUROS Regimes all games, so this is why I love the playlist. The rare guns have as much of a chance of beating any of the "overpowered" weapons when it's in good hands.

1 ReplyYou have a point. Being a 32 means nothing.

1 ReplyA point blank shotgun should kill anyone

What you are saying is for a crucible mode for only lvl 32s and they must have guns that do331 damage. So perfection crucible?

There wouldn't be as much of an incentive to play IB if you had to be 32 or 31 to be competitive at it. The 36 light gear for PvP is the biggest draw for most people in iron banner. They don't deserve to just get annihilated when trying to grind for their gear through the method that they find to be most fun, PvP.
-
45 RepliesIn order to reach 32, you -have- to raid. Forcing PvP players to raid just to stay competitive in a PvP-only event is beyond silly.
-
You do know that your 32 is still technically a level 20 + armour So it's a tournament for everyone at max level, what gear you take in, sets you apart.
-
7 RepliesNah man im with you. Theres no reason that my 32 hunter using a maxed vex and light of the abyss should be doing the same damage as my 30 warlock with a 300 vanquisher and 300 plan c. I dont get it at all. I dont notice a difference ATT ALL.

Edited by A K: 2/23/2015 6:29:16 PM'Elite' guardians and once with 'Highest level' doesn't necessarily mean the same thing. just sayin. you also say "I've seen low levels be able to kill me (a 32) which I don't think should be possible" - i know it's probably not what you mean, but still, i have to say this, do you suggest for whoever has lvl32 to be invincible and could only be killed by another lvl32? i hope not ;) if a lvl29 hits your head with a 300-331 Sniper rifle from across the map you're as good as dead, no issue there imo. the way i see it it's "Level advantage ENABLED" mainly for the Weapons, meaning the precious Stranger's Gun is of virtually NO USE in Iron Banner, which means you want all your weapons to be maxed and at least 300ATK (maybe with teh exception of Rocket Launchers) as for Player Level, i think the difference is nowhere near as significant as it is for weapons, reason for which imo is simply Bungie wanting ALL players to be able to "compete" in Iron Banner. what i think that means is that once you're high enough level to enter Iron Banner, you can get kills - it would not amke sense to let lvl20 players into IB and at the same time make it impossile for them to get kills, right? so, for level advantage between two players to be any significant the players need to be at least 5lvls apart, at least thats what i have noticed when playing IB (been playing every except the very first one) the difference between lvl31 and a lvl32 is barely noticeable, if any. i believe you would only be able to notice if these two (lvl 31 and 32) were shooting each other in the heads from identical weapons and at an exactly same rate of fire - in this case i believe lvl31 would die first hope this helps to clarify this a bit

3 RepliesPeople don't seem to understand how fine of a line the devs walk with iron banner. People say they want bigger gaps between levels in iron banner but they need to make it so people can actually compete with higher levels than them, if it was only viable for 32s to play then it would be literally all 32s and therefore be the exact same as regular crucible. I honestly think they've found a very good middle ground, playing as a 32 i definitely feel stronger against lower level guardians and playing as a 30 or 31 i still find it playable but more challenging, I honestly think everything in iron banner is working exactly as intended

I am right there with you buddy, I do not know if I would go as far as say that the only threat should be another 32, because as they said max weapons deal max damage, so I took it to mean; a 32 w/max 331 weapons = most offense and most defense (fair fight) a 30 w max 331 weapons = most offense, low defense ( can easily kill you, but can also easily be killed) a 28 w/ max weapons = Most offense , least defense (can kill you with ease , but little chance since one melee should wipe em' out) But what I have seen is anything but, I know they need a balance so that others besides 32's play. But why? It is a limited time event for the best of the best. If you are not lvl 31 or 32, you are not the best and shouldn't stand a chance in Iron Banner. I understand that 331 weapons make anyone a threat, but this is a little more than that

As a 32 vs say a 27-30 you should be able to destroy. Thorn should not be a 1-2 shot kill on a 32 5 levels below. In my opinion the damage should scale like PvE. If you are a level above me then it should take me 20% more damage to kill you. Lag also plays a huge roll in Iron banner. This contributes to uneven 1v1 fights a lot.
-
I only play Crucible, don't even bother with PvE most of the time. Therefore I don't raid and can't get to 32. I play as a 29 and quite often finish above players at a higher level.
-
3 RepliesI feel it's regular crucible honestly, I have never seen advantage to be honest but it's stupid to complain about it in my opinion Now only if bungie would fix the fact that they pick the worst connection to be the host so the lag is horrible, I hate getting killed by an invisible player...
