are you seriously using a fusion on atheon.....
So on two separate occasions last night I jumped in for a couple checkpoints just for a small shot at ghorn. I have 2 level 32 characters so I was taking the relic most of the time. And in both situations I saw multiple people using fusion rifles. Wtf is that, where do people get these ideas? Just wondering if there is now an influx of noobs that have never beaten atheon who are now level 31 trying to take him down. And as a reference to anyone who thinks it's the most effective way to defeat atheon it's not. The charge rate is probably taking the time of two sniper shots bare minimum. Not to mention the lack of a crit zone whilst using a fusion. In conclusion don't do it if you have any amount of decent weapons.

I can see that there are some strong opinions on this topic, and to clarify I'm not saying a fusion rifle can't be useful in the atheon encounter. I'm simply stating my opinion that when it comes to dps on atheon himself I find that a decent sniper can definitely outdo any fusion going. When it comes to being efficient I prefer a team using weapons that do max damage in the shortest amount of time.

I see a lot of references to the vog fusion being a good weapon for this encounter, and just to clarify I'd have no problem with someone using that weapon. If that was the case I'd at least have some faith you'd done the raid at some point. The people I saw using fusions were light/beware and vendor 1.0 weapons not even at 300. Should leave these at home or better yet dismantle.

Pocket Infinity with the fast reload perk from force barrier with WoL makes it a really impressive DPS tool.

Pop a titan bubble first for the team to get weapons of light. Then get in the relic holder bubble and snipe at Atheons critical hit area. That is all my buddies and I have ever done.

Agreed completely. I used to tear my hair out when I'm hitting 10/12 crit hits at over 7,000 with my sniper.. all the while some doofus next to me is golden gunning him followed by an auto rifle clip... SNIPERS!!!!!!!

I see to much of these outrageous weapon choices when it comes to bosses. Like people using auto rifles against Templar, below 300 anythings. More people need to utilize ammo synths for even their special weapons of they don't have a good heavy. And more need to utilize their heavy weapons in these encounters.

1 ReplyThis is why my buddy and I will never be able to pull 4 people together to try the Raid, because of thoughts like this. Good grief, not everybody has multiple exotic weapons or armor at their disposal and not everyone has played the Raid(s) before. I see from your edits you're a little more open to the reasons people use certain weapons, and that's good. Just remember that not everyone will want to run a Raid at lightspeed and not everyone will have run through an entire Raid before (like me), so it would be really, really great if a bit more patience was exercised. And yes, I'd imagine with Xmas in our rear view mirror there are a large number of new folks playing the game. Take a minute to explain the Raid to those you might notice that are struggling or unsure of exactly how it should be played. Cheers

Never been with anyone who uses a fusion rifle on atheon.... Usually icebreakers and gally. Personally I use black hammer (hits for 20k+) and ghorn.

On Atheon it seems like a silly choice. Maybe they didn't have any primary and heavy ammo. As I said below..my void Light Beware is a monster on supplicants and helping take down the Praetorian...not sure I would ever use it from behind the shield on Atheon.

Fusion rifles aren't the best choice But then, I also use G-horn and my 56-round AR does 860 per hit (no critical) with weapons of light ^_^

1 ReplySome fusions can have just as much range, sometimes more than snipers. And almost every fusion has more than double the impact of snipers.

I use my praetorian foil on atheon mainly because it hits like a beast and because i always play quite forward (in front of the portals) so that I'm away from people to get in the way of my gjallarhorn rockets, it just suits my play style and I've been playing since day one so defiantly not a christmas noob :)

Most people don't want to waste time reloading, so they'll rotate through their weapons. HMG, fusion, handcannon is a good list for massive damage. Of course, gjallarhorn owns all.

A maxed Light of the Abyss does about 14k per blast if you hit each ray. The fact you can get off 7 shots in 7 seconds is pretty nice. Then switch to Gjallarhorn to add another 40k damage or so. Me putting 130k damage on Atheon in 1 teleport is not bad if you ask me...

Shotguns clearly out damage sniper rifles for atheon! Why do you think they had to nerf them a bit?

The one that I prefer to use is a void damage one called "Purifier", Is only ranks up to 300, but it does 1800+ per shot. That is multiplied by 6. So each fusion shot is doing 10000+. Try using a fusion rifle on atheon once or twice and see how it works for ya. I am aware that icebreaker does 19k + per hit. Not everyone has the luxury of having an icebreaker. The guy was trying to make it seem like fusion rifles dont do anything to atheon. What im saying is that fusion rifles actually do deal a lot of damage to atheon and using one on him isnt a bad thing.
