are you seriously using a fusion on atheon.....
So on two separate occasions last night I jumped in for a couple checkpoints just for a small shot at ghorn. I have 2 level 32 characters so I was taking the relic most of the time. And in both situations I saw multiple people using fusion rifles. Wtf is that, where do people get these ideas? Just wondering if there is now an influx of noobs that have never beaten atheon who are now level 31 trying to take him down. And as a reference to anyone who thinks it's the most effective way to defeat atheon it's not. The charge rate is probably taking the time of two sniper shots bare minimum. Not to mention the lack of a crit zone whilst using a fusion. In conclusion don't do it if you have any amount of decent weapons.

I can see that there are some strong opinions on this topic, and to clarify I'm not saying a fusion rifle can't be useful in the atheon encounter. I'm simply stating my opinion that when it comes to dps on atheon himself I find that a decent sniper can definitely outdo any fusion going. When it comes to being efficient I prefer a team using weapons that do max damage in the shortest amount of time.

I see a lot of references to the vog fusion being a good weapon for this encounter, and just to clarify I'd have no problem with someone using that weapon. If that was the case I'd at least have some faith you'd done the raid at some point. The people I saw using fusions were light/beware and vendor 1.0 weapons not even at 300. Should leave these at home or better yet dismantle.

Actually yes, I use a fusion on atheon on occasions. First occasion, no ammo for anything besides my fusion at that moment. And second, yea... I can use what I feel does significant enough damage to bring him down.

6 RepliesI did atheon on hard last week with several groups with multiple lvl 31s... I had to change groups three times to finally beat atheon cause they didn't know what they where doing.... I was more effective as a lvl 29 than these guys are at lvl 31. Lvl does not equate to anything.

May have ran out of ammo . This could also be an alt that forgot to switch his weapons over from his main. Poor planning but possible for even the most experienced player. Or it was a guy looking to get carried and trolling the fireteam

1 ReplyWhat I do is I have my Found Verdict, Fatebriger, and Gjallarhorn for hard Atheon. Found verdict gets me out of the detain bubbles quickly and 1-2 shots oracles when I'm inside and ghorn is ghorn... 'Nuff said. However, that found verdict will be replaced by praetorian foil if I ever acquire one. It one shots oracles and that's the hardest part of the fight is being on the inside and if you can do it effectively, Atheon is no problem. That's my opinion on the matter :)

I still use my light beware in vog. It was a dropped one not bought. It's void. 1 trigger pull drops praetorian/minotaur shields. Spawn with additional ammo (48) great for wipes. Accelerated coils... Fires almost instantly. My go to oracle buster during random teleports. Shoot it at Atheon however? No...

Fusion rifle on oracles is always my option usually 1-2 shots and there gone

Fusion rifle does work on oracles and if I'm out of heavy for Ghorn, I feel a fusion is next best. Now if I could only equip my Icebreaker and Ghorn at the same time....

What scrubs not using Icebreaker and Black Hammer. Gjallahorn peeps BTFO you just mess up peoples aim. Not serious, I haven't touched the vault of glass since the DLC dropped.

I've done the raid many times. Last night we downed Atheon on hard and for the first time I used a fusion rifle on Atheon. I didn't want to waste Mythoclast ammo on him and I am always a bit wary of using rockets unless I am standing to the side away from the group. So, as I had my maxed out Murmur equipped, I just used that. It did a surprising amount of damage. We got him down to less than 10% on the first go and then finished him off next time through the portal.

People using 1.0 weapons on a 1.0 boss. *gasp* how dare they. Maybe their fusion rifle is higher level than their sniper rifle. Hell, my first vog I used a fusion rifle on Atheon and it worked just fine. That was before I had a good sniper. People don't have the same weapons as you or have played the same amount of time as you.

I have the raid fusion maxed and it still doesn't one shot the oracles, at least at the Templar I have my IB equipped at Atheon so I wouldn't know there

1 ReplyIf your team is using rockets (aka making him move around a lot) a fusion will actually out DPS a sniper. I never run one but I can see the strategy in it.

Praetorian foil is only good on oracles. It's not good on atheon.

Lol, week one DLC, doing raid helping the news, I'm holding the relic bubbles up, counting down. I hear that district sound... "Is that a Mur-Mur?" He tried to tell me that because it was post DLC weapon it was more powerful even with no upgrades.
