The Question No One is Asking
If Destiny takes place way in the future, after the Golden Age of mankind, where we achieved technological brilliance....why do all the rusted cars look like they're from 1998?

Maybe it just has to do with the concept of a car being what it is. It must have seats, protective body shell, windows, wheels and engine or motor. These things, assembled in a basic form with pragmatic design end up looking like basic pragmatic cars from most of the past half century. Or the designers of the game wanted to put more time on other things than making futuristic-looking wrecks. But that would have been kinda cool.

Let's say tomorrow we enter the golden age. Awesome. We now have hovercrafts, spacesuits, warp drives etc. Do you really think every car that existed yesterday would get rid of themselves easily or without much effort? It would be an environmental disaster. Not to mention I know damn well I wouldn't be able to afford a hovercraft.

He tried to save humanity somehow knowing we would get shredded eventually (absorbed our souls, which is why your Ghost gets called Dr Lim) but stuffed up and unleashed the Darkness. Which is why we have near moder n tech in game like rusted cars and planes.

1 ReplyThis is one aesthetic choice that I think the person who made the final decision was 100% wrong for allowing into the game (at least on the planets other than Earth). I don't believe in this supposedly, Golden Age of Tech and Exploration people on Venus and Mars would be driving around on 4 wheeled, conventional automobiles. It takes the immersion of the game and tanks it somewhat for me. On Earth, I can understand still having some cars and trucks, etc. Not on other planets though. It just doesn't add up logically.

Why when today we have an assault rifle with a select fire, do we need 3 -blam!-ing rifles with different rates of fire when we achieved technological brilliance past todays age...wtf happened to the weapon engineers? they all die? We now need to rely on WW2 weapons that LOOK futuristic?
