This is the whole point of the system. You get to choose what kind of experience you have here. If you want to see the entirety of the on-goings here, then you can choose not to mute people. If you want to weed out some of the nonsense, you can mute people. It's not always about being butthurt, most of the time I just mute people who post things equivalent to spam. I'm usually on here when I get home from work, and I just want to get to quality topics/posts rather than sorting through stuff I don't find funny.
