I think they're referencing the new seasons rather than Halo 5, plus, the key might be destroyed by season's end.

So I've been looking up 'Janus'...It's a god of chaos and deception. Am I the only one that thinks something bad will happen?

Edited by Haruspis: 2/12/2013 1:09:17 AMThe Janus Key is, as you said, named after the Roman God Janus - who resides over beginnings and transitions. The Janus Key is very similar in the image of Janus, two faces, facing away from each other but attached., which is why the Janus Key has 2 parts - each a "face", if you will. The Janus Key appears to be the literal and metaphorical statement that Humanity is walking through the doorway to take the Mantle. Janus is representative of the Forerunner concept of Living Time, as he looks to both the past and the future.

I very much doubt that they'd introduce the Janus Key, the biggest game-changer for humanity in the entire series, only to destroy it 5 minutes later.

I do like your theory, I just don't think 343i would do something crazy with canon in Spartan Ops seeing as there's people who can't play it.
