Do you know what Marathon feels like to me?
The beginning of the Destiny I always wanted.
I love the Fallout franchise.
It feels like Fallout in space on a grander scale.
The tone, the shift in morality per narrative staging and those practical realities.
If you make a great game that's brutally fair, people will learn it.
I see a lot of potential for Marathon... I think there is a PvE mode that could be easily maintained.
I think a campaign could be accomplished through repeatable missions/contracts... using the maps. I think that's the best way to do it. And... It should be structured, essentially, as a map sense tutorial for major locations on every map.
It could teach players an overview of PoIs and advanced Keycard mechanics in the other modes.
Caviar dreams for Marathon, for your consideration.
😇👍💠
To add: How would you balance a PvE mode with repeatable missions, contracts.
Still Rogue-like... you still extract... there could be narrative cues, but otherwise a similar structure to the main game.
Blue caps on everything... greater AI density and difficulty. Squads, Duos, Solos... but no Rook.
I love Rook, it needs to stay in that Darkzone space, imo. That's part of what makes it so special. It's survival horror with emergent axis contribution to those experiences.
The PVE side should be capped at Blue. But I would still allow full looting and exploration... keeping the timer, and extraction mechanic to end each mission/contract.
