I think game studios should be able to come under lawsuit for not protecting their players from outside influences that cause emotional distress.
The studios write the code for their games and if someone is able to infiltrate that code isn’t it that studios obligation to close that access to protect their players and stop the cheating from ruining their game?
If studios want players to play their game without fear of having a bad experience from an outside influence then shouldn’t their game be hack proof to ensure that?

If you suffer emotional distress in a game that's solely on you and not the studio because hey guess what if you play an online game your gonna get toxic players especially in pvp. And if the emotional distress is that bad that its affecting you significantly than stop playing online games as your clearly not mentally strong enough to handle it. And no I'm not being toxic just brutally honest.

Just to be clear, you think companies should be civilly liable for emotional distress experienced while playing PvP?

1 ReplyI was gonna make a joke about victim blaming evolving into victim suing in the vein of pokemon, but I got lazy. In short, I wish you had enough money to hire a lawyer to bill you for this ridiculous request, but Bungie isn't responsible for your mental well-being.

You think any game dev is able to create a hack proof game? The only hack proof code is code that is never released.

You expect Bungie to solve a security issue(securing a process/file from a physical user) that computer scientists still haven't perfected? No game run locally can ever be completely safe from cheating. Also: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/4402601695252-Mental-Health-Resources
