So, another daily reset, another TAPIR error, another "team is aware and investigating the issue". 4 days of "investigation" on why after a _specific_ update, players from a _specific_ region are encountering a _specific_ error on a _specific_ authentication step. This from a multi-$B company with decades of experience on "the frontiers of genres new and familiar alike", btw. It seems that even after touting the ground-breaking, reality-shattering novelty of their "LUP" updates outside of schedule (called "hotfixes" by others over the last few decades) - the most optimistic fix date is the scheduled weekly reset, 9/23. But assuming that their internal decision to change a third-party authentication service is probably dictated by the need to lower costs - and knowing Bungie's recent track record - more realistic expectations include the following: - This service has our region blacklisted and Bungie either can't do anything about it or it will take some time to sort this thing out; - Fedoras come back on office hooks within hours, it's just cost-benefit analysis that's buried the "investigation reports" indefinitely in the pile of other low-priority Jira issues. So I'm not holding my breath for a somewhat quick resolution here and I hope no one else was targeting to farm the reprised Finite Impactor. That's just sad.
