It's literally said that when Rite of the Nine dropped you couldn't do those things in that mode. No triumphs, No Exotic. No Catalyst.

Bugs don't happen all the time, and if you're just looking for an excuse to quit, you should probably know that the door has always been open and no cares if you leave. It works, just not in Rite of the Nine. You need to do it in the regular version of the dungeon.
