baby steps..

after almost 11 years I stopped playing the game.. 3 weeks and counting.. it feels like ending a toxic relationship. I want to return at some point, but now it feels like "damn! bungie doesn't appreciate the time I put into their game" who knows.. I feel so liberated of the FOMO. they need to make D3 or really change things on their next "expansions" I always paid 100 bucks for the annual content.. no more until they show me my time and money will be well spent. like byf says "I'll see you starside Guardians..

      • If they can't fix or improve d2, why ask for d3? I never understood this. Before d3 can happen, they need to leave d2 at a good point. Not perfect, but better than what we have now. What i think should happen, is remove the number completely and just call it DESTINY. And try to go from there

      • I stopped for a couple of months last year and when I came back I realized how much I missed the game but I will say it's much easier to not play it since then.

      • I haven't logged on in almost a month. I used to get on every day and play just to play. I'd get on right at reset and do all my pinnacles. I'd play crucible a lot too. I started an event on the first day it was released. I would always pre-order new expansions...etc. Do you know that episode of Spongebob when Squidward gets so pissed at Spongebob and Patrick that he moves out and into that Squidward community? Then there is that montage of him doing all those activities with a smile and everyday that passes, the smile turns into a frown? That's me with Destiny 2.

If you value the stuff to the point that you fear missing out on any of it, that's not Bungie's fault or responsibility. They also can't keep everything in the game all the time unless you want destiny to be well over 500gbs just have installed so you dont fear missing a single thing. We also don't need a D3 just to restart and re-earn all of the things we already have again. Bungie also doesn't need to show if your time and money will be well spent when it's your decision what you spend both on. If you don't even value your own time and money, then why should bungie? As of right now, you've already proven to bungie that you'll pay for content just to stop playing it so they have no reason to change anything for you.

        • Yeah it takes a while to break the addiction. I used to sweat if I missed a day. Little by little I could go longer. Now I can go multiple weeks without playing and it doesn’t bother me at all. Now I usually only play when drunk and bored lol

          • Trust me you miss out on nothing, and thats because you don't need anything to play other than the weapons and gear you've obtained over the years, years ago weapons were extremely sort after and worth grinding for (WOTW, Gally, Sleeper) all did massive DPS, fun to use and got you through end game activity, kind of must have weapons, the last few years every weapon is the same as the next, unfortunately as silly as it sounds there's too many weapons and abilities now,its all abit messy and nothing stands out. It says alot about were the game is at the moment when I can do a grandmaster and raids with weapons from 2 years ago.

          • I've been playing Oblivion Remastered a lot, No Mans Sky, and Space Marine 2. All very, very different from each other and D2, and it's been great actually. I feel almost sad when I think about "needing," to get this-or-that weapon, roll, armor set etc., and realize I don't care enough to bother 99% of the time anymore.

Ya know, a while ago I heard a guy on here say "People keep forgetting that Edge of Fate is D3". I didn't fully agree at first, and I am not sure i fully agree now, but in a way it kinda is. I am not sure what, if anything is happening under the hood (like engine upgrades etc) but the more I think about it, that guy may have been on to something. We're basically getting d3 in d2's engine. Take that how you will. Just an interesting take. Edit: spelling... also couldn't fully remember where to put the period on a quote of someone at the end ... think i did it right.

            • I’m going to tell you as someone who has played this game off and on since beta Destiny 1, just play when you want to, not because you feel like you have to. The legendary weapons you acquire throughout the game are always replaced by something else. And the exotics can always be acquired by some means if you end up missing them. I have a vault full of god rolls or crafted weapons that I will probably never touch because there’s always something new. Occasionally, through the seasonal artifact, weapons will make their way out of the vault but rarely. Enjoy this game along side other games. Don’t make it something you feel like you have to do.

            • Just move on and let it go. Video games are a hobby not a relationship. No offense but your post screams of issues you have that aren’t video game related. Hope you get the help you need.

            • I've been playing less & less. I thinks it's to do with TFS. I had this feeling of closure but that wasn't what actually happened. One door closed & I kinda wish D2 went into the same maintenance mode that D1 is in now. But D3 isn't a thing. And don't see it becoming a thing. I'll always come back simply because there is no other game that moves & shoots like Destiny. It's literally the pinnacle of combat loop. The feeling of shoot, move, grenade, shoot, move, super is unequalled in any game I've played, bar Halo, but that has been surpassed with the addition of space magic. There's also the lore, the soundtrack, the mesmerising skyboxes & I'll ever be so in thrall to a game ever again, but.. All good things must come to an end. And even as I slowly withdraw, I do genuinely hope the game remains. Destiny has given many types of wonderful moments & memories, and even as I move on, I wish nothing but the best for the game & those that continue. I'll be around here & there, but I'll not be a constant. Regardless.. Good Hunting, Guardians 😎

              • You'll be back as soon as Edge of Fate released D2 is the game that impossible to quit forever, it's like you said toxic relationship I quit D2 multiple times, sometimes because of boring gameplay like during Warming era, sometimes because of life But guess what? I keep coming back, because I love and hate this game at the same time Something about this game, this space magic that no other game can replace no matter how hard I tried to enjoy other games So let's hope Bungie will improve gameplay with this new saga
