Bungie’s done some loudy stuff and needs called out but this is misguided feedback IMO.
I feel like this is one of the easiest periods of the game ever. In fact I think it should be much more exclusive than it is.
A few examples: why do we need X amount NF variations? To be inclusive?? There should be one Nightfall and that’s it. You can’t do it because your light level is too low? Too bad, grind more till you can. We have easy versions of that content, it’s called the strike playlist.
Remember when you had the NF aura around your head for the week in D1? That was great.
Why do we need several different versions of exotic missions? One hard mission to earn the weapon. I remember doing the black spindle mission and failing repeatedly until I finally came up with a strategy and team to do it.
The game is missing this exclusivity and it needs to return IMO.
I know there is a balance to being too hard off putting but the pendulum seems far too close to easy and it needs adjusted.

I think you're missing the point. The game can be inclusive in many ways. It can be easy and difficult at the same while still feeling rewarding towards all players. From the most elitist types of players that can clear everything on their own to the co-op players that like to do everything with friends to the most lonely casual solo player. Let's take the Kell's Fall Exotic mission for example. I wasn't able to do it by myself solo on Expert. I went in with a solid build, 100 resilience, 100 recovery, capable of dealing with Overload and Unstoppable Champions, upgraded weapons. But I still got my -blam!- handed to me because basic enemies can kill you in just a few shots. So now I have to do this mission with other people which will lessen the overal enjoyment for me and I question why? Why do I have to lessen my enjoyment to get catalysts that are required for the optimal performance of the weapon? People will say ''But you're playing an MMO'' but in reality you're not. The game doesn't qualify as an MMO. It's an online FPS with optional co-op capabilities. So why not build upon that foundation? Especially when it comes down to things such as catalysts that are integral to a specific weapon. And there are many other arguments to be made such as crafting. Giving players agency over the way they CHOOSE to play the game is vital. Bungie is fully capable of catering to all sorts of players so why doesn't it? And whenever you say something about it people on the forums will descend like vultures with negative comments which also shows that the Destiny community itself does not want things to change. The only thing that is holding Destiny back from being great is Bungie themselves and a large portion of the community that is unwilling to see this game change for the better.

I don’t think it’s difficulty but more so the difficulty versus reward. Same with people complaining about the reduced crafting. Grinds need more agency with perk pools and weapons being focused better than they currently are so when you do complete an activity the reward is actually worth it. There definitely needs to be more exclusive loot but not more powerful. Shiny skins etc is perfect. I also think putting great PvE weapons in PvP such as the stasis rocket sidearm is a good way to get people into different playlists - this is another form of difficulty.

difficulty is relative. some gamers even have physical handicaps. things to consider when discussing difficulty.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 1/13/2025 10:32:22 PMIt’s less it being difficult and how they go about it for me. Difficulty should come from enemy abilities and behaviors. NOT from imposing random restrictions and hinderances on what the player can do in combat. That’s just annoying, not fun.

if you made decisions instead of bungie your game would not have lived longer than concord... or do you need to be explained why there is easier content and difficult content? or do you need to be explained the concept of gameplay and its development? Where do you get so smart 🤦🏻♂️

Some people just don't want to learn & try to get better at the game. I was one of those people until I decided to actually try which was in forsaken. They also claim people need to be professionals to play the game lol kinda weird because I'm not a professional & I've completed everything there is to complete in the game. Even 1 trials flawless because of my clanmates who are good at pvp. I just don't care to try & get better at pvp so I don't really play anything other than scorched or mayhem. Idk why so many people on the forums want their hand held for this game when we've only become stronger over time.

37 Repliesalways remember - there are more players on pc than console and pc is easier than console. all you elite pc players won. the raid was so difficult no one could do it. elite players got new modifiers and exclusive content. crafting is gone from the new content so you got your wish there. elite players got tonics to enhance gameplay and the “powercreep” was removed from the artifact. have fun. for all us trash “casual players” all the fun is gone. you elite players that love berating other players because they’re not good, can’t read, and suck at video games. you all got your wish. now go enjoy the game you wanted. go login. show your loyalty. spend money on eververse. do that trash raid again. according to several players in the forums that won’t shut up about how easy the game is on pc, we can be sure they’ll cry more about how easy the game is on pc right now, all of you got your wish. don’t blame anything on anyone else now. the game population doesn’t matter so long as you have your exclusive guns and armor. no one else should be able to get the best weapons. only you. well you won. people don’t have the weapons from raid. they don’t have the exotics. and now some players don’t want them. enjoy it. you got your way. and don’t try to claim “well not like this”. just watch an “elitists datto” video if you want an idea of what you’ve wrought. enjoy it now.

2 RepliesEvery game since the beginning of time has had tiered difficulty ranging from very easy to very hard. The best loot should always be at the higher end of the difficulty. People need to realise their own skill level and potential and either want to improve or get comfortable at the content difficulty that they adhere to. This is a concept that is lost on a lot of the D2 player base. The game has become very casual lately because the large majority or the loudest voice has touted for easier difficulty, instant rewards/success with very little effort having to be applied in order to achieve it. The loudest voice or large majority are also the same group of players who have moulded the game into what it is now and have abandoned it when it’s on fire and in its time of need. Regardless of what state the game is in whether it’s deemed as excellent or mediocre these players will come and go but the hardcore player base always remains. The game should be catering to these players, not entirely but enough in part to thank them for their loyalty. The masses that come and go don’t respect the game, have no loyalty for the game and couldn’t care less about what happens to the game. Bungie need to stop listening to them. Bring back D1s difficulty and rewards structure.

Your idea would further alienate a large percentage of players. Should d2 have a return of aspirational content - yes but I’d be happy if all of it was great cosmetics

It's the SnK Boss Syndrome "difficulty" that gets me; the kind of "difficulty" achieved by moving sliders around. I tried to solo Kell's Fall Expert and took it up the backside for my effort. I pugged two randos for Expert? Breezed through it like it was nothing. If the "difficulty" becomes easy when you get other people, it wasn't truly difficult to begin with.

Edited by Tis-but-a-scratch: 1/12/2025 5:49:09 PM1 thing is the average solo player. It’s harder for them. Watching a video is sometimes required to figure it out. That turns a lot more people off. 2nd is the amount of adds. Non stop. No cover. No moment to breathe. 3rd is the almost requirement to be a certain build. 4th. It’s a 1st person shooter. Not DnD. And it should’ve never tried to be like FOMO Fortnite. It cheapened it sooo much. Those are my problems with the difficulty And I would argue a regular vanguard ops is much more difficult than a low tier nightfall. Make harder content not require a specific build and KWTD elitist attitude and you’ll see a positive outcome.
The game is missing this exclusivity and it needs to return IMO.
Nope, it does not. Unless you want the population to keep dwindling.

2 RepliesGame was definitely easier prior to Lightfall. Nightfall difficulty was more evenly spaced. Master raids could be considerably over levelled. Dungeons were less mechanically heavy. Way less ads in everything. You might consider it easy now, but no way did you think it was harder pre Lightfall.

well d2 playerbase can't read ofc some players are mad that the difficulty changed from tutorial mode to normal mode. i think the tutorial should be back for new players, but the biggest problem is end game content not giving stronger gear/ unique rewards cuz ofc bungie is scared that casuals will cry if they do that

It's a money decision, same reason cod has ultra strict sbmm, so people play, coz if they aren't playing your game they're not spending, they're spending & playing in someone else's game. This game has survived for so long because it appeals to all different skill sets, that's the reason Sony bought them.
