Just my opinion but as a player whos been with the game since beta its no shock that i have 28000 legendary shards just chilling in my inventory and while i never have to worry about anything that cost shards in the game as opposed to a newer light, its not without reason. I have played for 6 years. It makes sense that after working my butt off i can sit comfortably and to just fully remove shards with nothing to give in return and the only thing to buy without a daily purchase cap is raid banners is dumb. Allow those of us who have put in more hours in the game than to be proud of an equal exchange and dont just erase years of effort. (Edit) ive seen a lot of people debating the removal and ive just wanted to point something out. Currently in the game when you complete most activities you are rewarded glimmer and shards to some degree and sometimes cores ie: the 3 fundamental payments. Removing even 1 of these 3 raises the cost of the other 2 and shown in bungies chart ie: 5 engrams and 50000 glimmer to focus banner. There is no word on bungie on a glimmer cap increase and barely a word on engram drops and there is no word on glimmer drops rates. If there are no shards glimmer has to drop at a rate to take its place.

Let’s be real, they could have removed glimmer and kept shards as the only currency but no they want you on that hamster wheel

4 RepliesI use mine for glimmer when my glimmer gets low. This is going to impact me pretty hard unless they raise the glimmer cap again.

The worst part is they are just gonna replace it with another currency that will have a cap. The spreadsheet ninja doesn't like that some of us have shards... when the real issue is the lack of shards for new players. You should always be able to exchange materials for something else, not just wipe out people's work. Why does everything have 2 or 3 currencies? They can't create new maps, strikes, etc, but they can try to think of ways to increase grind time.

I have 2 questions for Bungie. 1. What will be the replacement currency for the weekly assedent alloy? A 400 LS price tag is going to be a large glimmer purchase. 2. Are strange coins going to be thing with Xur again? I don't understand how you can say you're removing LS to make the economy easier. Then say Xur is going to take a different currency. It has to be strange coins or you just LIED. If its glimmer, that's a new low. Glimmer for exotics?

4 RepliesEdited by starcrest: 9/14/2023 9:28:57 PMI've only been playing D2 since May this year and don't have a stockpile of shards, but I am shocked that Bungie are not allowing players that do have them to quickly exchange them for cores, prisms, etc by removing caps on those purchases until they demise the shards. Players have earned those shards and should be compensated.

3 RepliesTheir concern is to remove the excessive amounts of different currencies available but continue to add seasonal currencies? Just this season we not only have Witch Keys but also 3 different types of “offerings” that now take up 4 slots in our inventory. I thought last season was excessive with 3 total from 2 different activity keys and the fishing kit. It honestly looks like they are saying one thing and doing another! Not a good look there, Bungie.

So much for playing smart and learning the game. Hey, some newbie is complaining about shards so lets get rid of them. We ask for the glimmer cap to be raised for years and hear crickets.

It's Bungie's middle finger to the community yet again.

23 RepliesIt is a shock actually. I have 5000 hrs and never sit above 500 shards because I actually spend them trying new things out. The wealth disparity they outlined in the TWAB is real and this is a good change

Exactly!

Buy Phantasmal Fragments on the moon. Turn them into glimmer at Rahool in Final Shape. Profit.

11 RepliesWhat do you think they could be exchanged for? There's not really much I can think of that won't lead to the same problem. Perhaps they could create a tiered legendary shard emblem system. Then people could let everyone know forever that they were a paragon of legendary shards.
