Glaives are useless and easily replaceable
Why would I use a glaive when I have a sword that does more damage and doesnt burn my special ammo? No reason
Why would I want my movement and special locked because I use the umbrella shield on glaives when I can just switch to a sword and run behind cover? No reason
Glaives feel slow, weak, and a pit for special ammo and are actually useless compared to any sword in Destiny

I for the life of me cannot find a use for a Glaive in high end content. Why would I use a weapon that makes me get right next to them to defeat them, or use a projectile less damaging than a sniper rifle… I fail to see the niche they are useful for.

glaives in solo content is amazing. also makes running double special in content very viable

The only glaive I bother with is the Titan one, if I can't find a better unstoppable option. I can do everything a Glaive does faster with gear that I already have.

I have 10,200 kills with the Void Glaive from last season. The Void artifact mods made it a beast last season, but it's still very powerful with the right Perks (I like Unrelenting and Grave Robber). And as other have pointed out, you can kill with it even when the ammo runs out.

True, swords dont burn special ammo. They burn heavy. That argument is not very good.

They lack the damage neccesary to compete with other special weapons While it CAN be used for a double special loadout, the benefits of using a glaive in that scenario aren't better than simply using a primary, or using another special and utilizing Special Finisher On Titans in particular they much prefer the ability to chain damage and healing off of throwing hammer, which negates what utility Glaives do offer They lack the flexibility of other specials and even some primary weapons Glaives CAN be useful in certain situations, Master VOW Third Encounter is a place where Glaives can shine due to the speedy nature of the encounter, but its a weapon type whose utility has a high floor, but a low ceiling. The longer an encounter or activity goes on, the less usefull glaives become.

I can't agree with that. I didn't play them last season but now I really like them. Just made me a Enigma with Enhanced Subsistence and Enhanced Frenzy and with the buff for glaives that has been introduced, this thing absolutely slays! I think you just should give them a chance and take some time to make a nice build... then they are a lot of fun.

Please keep submitting to your Reddit overlords and say that glaives are garbage so that they get even more buffs! You just don’t realize how great glaives are.

Last I checked, you cant go around slashing things with no sword ammo. Glaives have their purpose and they are actually a lot better than you realize.

Glaives are great with the right setup. One you get used to the projection shooting, it’s a pretty nasty weapon.

Keep in mind against none boss enemies the Glaive melee does about double the damage of a normal melee and even can beat charged melee's against reds and majors not including things like roaring. Against bosses it's still much better since the melee still does more than the base melee and is much faster plus the shield giving like what 95% damage resistance making stomps do nothing is extremely helpful. Though that range shot man it's super disappointing feels like it tickles my enemies instead of damaging them

5 RepliesNot sure I agree with you. I’m no Glaive expert but I’ve played with others that shred everything when using them. The new dungeon for example. I’ve seen players steamroll through the various encounters using glaives meanwhile I’m relying on my invis and taking cover to stay alive.

Pretty sure half of my sword ammo is spent on hitting the air. Glaives have a much better hit detection and targeting than swords.

12 RepliesBecause glaives dont eat up heavy ammo you neanderthal. I was able to one shot melee enemies 10 light above me in the nightmare harvest activity. Not to mention helm of saint has synergy with the exotic glaive now, meaning you have a mini bubble for defense now. Glaives are great, learn how to use them.

Glaives are extremely ammo efficient. The shield is stronger than a sword shield by a good amount. 95% dmg resistance basically makes you impossible to kill in all content.

I just dismantle it....its a crap weapon. I prefer auto rifles and machine guns....all other types are not fun at all.

6 RepliesGlaives are amazing. The shield is great for revives and close quarters high octane play. The projectile is actually very strong too. However, my favourite part of Glaives is that they easily enable a diverse double special loadout. Aeger’s Scepter and a glaive is the best gambit loadout I’ve ever used and I cannot wait for a stasis glaive so I can pair it with other energy special weapons such as cloudstrike.
