PS - long read
Also I'm french Canadian apologies for my spelling if it's not 100%
To begin I'm not here to bash on Bungie, or D2 if I spent specifically 2864h playing this game I obviously love the game, but here are my honest opinions about the game & why I'm afraid for its future.
Some players are PvE specific and some are PvP specific. I'm a hybrid soo I play both, slightly more towards PvP once I've obtained everything I want PvE wise. I've competed in almost every Day 1 raid starting from LW. Solo flawlessed 99% of all dungeons or timed quest like whisper or pressage. On their hardest difficulties. Earned all guildable seals,
Conqueror, Dredgen, Unbroken, Flawless.
Soo the following opinions are from someone who plays the (Whole) game.
Il start off with (Stasis), & I know many share & feel the way I feel. It's been practically 6 months since beyond light. And being a top tier PvP player, I honestly do not think Stasis has a place in crucible. With D2 PvP being highly movement based, about the only skill gap the game has. Stasis completely disrupts the flow of the game from being Hard stuck frozen or to just being slowed.
I'm not hating on Stasis as a subclass, I absolutely love the ability to customize a stasis build to your liking, the aesthetics & the sounds are also amazing it's a super cool subclass to use in PvE. But it has no place in PvP. I'd also like to add that I know this is Destiny and not CoD or Halo and I'm not asking the game to be That. I understand Destiny is all about space Magic. That's the cool thing witch seperates destiny compared to other games but when your games (Flow) is based around movement, introducing anything with CC's - (Crowd control). The only people who told me they enjoyed stasis in crucible are people that lack significant skill in PvP. It's not to be mean towards the casual player base but when my own girlfriend tells me she likes it only because it freezes players like me and it's a free easy kill for her. At the end of the day when I come home from work and want to just chill and hangout with some friends stasis is more rage inducing than fun in PvP.
Moving on to gun duels! That of witch exist so little, unfortunately another thing that bothers me in the crucible is the gunfights, for 6 months now crucible has been nothing but Abilities & OHK (One Hit Kill) weapons shotguns, snipers ect... People now rather pull out a shotgun run 50+ meters towards someone just to kill them, & if they miss spam every single ability they have instead of switching too their primary and have a proper gun duel.
I must give credit where credit is due. I do seriously enjoy that I can use almost any gun and still compete, obviously their will always be outliers, that's a given for any game, their will always be A meta.
Part of the problem is yes the maps we have were originally designed for 4v4 combat (no special) a lot of them are also small witch doesn't help, but now that Bungie added specials and cranked up the abilities to 1000% that's all you see, I can't even begin to count how many times I told myself, "had you of pulled out a primary, you probably would of killed me" I hope in the near future we can see some NEW maps and actual gun duels again.
As for PvE the raids are still great but would like to see an option to enable contest mode with added benefits like more loot or higher chance at raid exclusive exotics. Since many people still can't obtain eyes of tomorrow.
Dungeons are also great, again would like the options to crank up difficulties with chances at like double loot.
(PS) - I do know Bungie have said their working on adding adept loot and harder difficulties for dungeons.
Master and Legendary lost sectors are a Great addition to D2, being able to chase specific exotics pieces is amazing. My issue with the current system is the drop rate I genuinely don't believe I should potentially take me 10 tries to get 1 exotic given how many we already have, I genuinely believe after your third attempt, it should be a guaranteed drop. Because unfortunately as nice as it is to target farm exotics if I'm chasing, ex stompees with a specific stat spread. It is very possible I can farm a lost sector for like 5 hours and come out with every other exotic boots but stompees. Hope this can be improved.
For the love of God can we have an auto dismantle for blues Please.
Transmog. In my opinion their should be no cap for simply wanting to look good or having an array of different looks depending on how you feel.
Vendors - bring back the ability to reset by holding a button not collecting a resource/exotic Engram. This only applies to Crucible and gambit atm.
All in all I really do enjoy how smooth the gameplay is in Destiny 2 and theirs nothing out there that feels just like it. For the future of the game as it stands for me right now once Halo Infinite drops I will no longer be playing PvP in Destiny 2, stasis ruined that experience for me. & Il only be returning for the end game PvE content.
Let me know how you guys feel about the game currently, I'm genuinely curious.
From a fellow Canadian Have a Nice Day! 🇨🇦
& Stay safe.

1 ReplyExactly. Maybe by witch queen they’ll get some structure like they used to but right now lots of recycling. The beginning of this season I personally feel is great and I like override and Stuff. PvP and stasis definitely don’t match.transmog needs a balance between quality of life and bungee monétisation. The story for this season seems like it’s heading in a ok place but it’s too early to tell. I just hope it gets better.

5 Replies4552 hrs D1 and 3269 hrs D2 - if there is a game like Destiny i would leave immediately...

9 RepliesPretty much agree with what your saying. P.s. its which* not witch by the way , sorry I had to correct that lol
-
1 ReplyWell, this is probably the best thought out posts. I agree with everything but the transmog. In my opinion transmog should be limited to 100 a season. That’s 20 full sets a season, which will allow many who don’t have the money to still transmog their most loved armor while allowing Bungie to still make some money.
nibbles crayon
I agree very much

2 RepliesDamn, dude. Well written. I read the whole thing and pretty much completely agree. And it's always interesting to read a top tier PvP player disagrees with Stasis in crucible. That says so much right there. I've tried other games. Most recently, Outriders. The game has some things that I really liked - good story, npc interaction. But I don't like that style of shooter. As you wrote, the movement in Destiny is second to none. I'm honestly concerned that bungie is in the process of dumping destiny. No efforts into PvP, very little "content" and most of it laundry lists to grind. They made D1 a little crappier just before D2 came out. We all figured out was to make people go to the new game. Bungie is working on a new game right now. How much do they really want to continue to invest in a game that has been slowly deteriorating over the last few years? Also, hello from elsewhere in Canada!

Edited by ArcadiaMist69: 5/11/2021 2:11:07 PMAs someone who has 5000+ in the game, and plays both pve and PvP (although I suck at it) very valid points. I especially like the thoughts on gun duels. It warms my heart when I get killed by something other than a shotgun or hand cannon. 🤣

2 RepliesTop tier Post.

1 ReplyThis is the post I like to see! Another fellow player who plays THE GAME AS A WHOLE. That in itself validates the opinion and makes me wanna read what someone like me thinks- and I gotta day.... I effing agree. Stasis needs to be tuned a little more, but sadly it is here to stay. Get rid of inaccuracy debuff on slow and im honestly fine with avoiding the cheesy freezes. Take my bump fellow gamer.

With D2 PvP being highly movement based, about the only skill gap the game has.
There are several other "skill" gaps that the game creates. Can someone please tell me why people are locating the "skillgap" in something that the game manipulates (very heavily at many times throughout this games history) for everyone but the people who are determined to promote the movement shooter thing? Its actually gotten a little better here lately but for most of the history of this game the movement shooter thing just has not been true. There is no actual skill gap in something where your stats cause you to get given a shit ton more of it than other people. And its not a little bit either its a lot once you start approaching that 3000 elo mark or when you run stacked.

1 ReplyWell, thanks for the effort in laying out your thoughts. I have no comment on the PVP aspect as, any more, I don’t play it. Don’t really want ‘harder’ PVE content as that’s a bit exclusionary (for the highest tier players). Rather see them make it so more casuals can participate in endgame stuff like raids & GM NFs. Not sure how, though? I’m the sort that is among the least desired on a team since I’m slow I guess (old with bad eyes). If the young hotshots are really so good they wouldn’t need to crutch on other young hotshots to get by? Play PVE cooperatively or go off & solo the stuff?

1 ReplyStasis has changed the engagements to be more mid range and long ranged attacks. It's sad really. When people are aping it brings out the shotgun apes. PVP has more problems than this. P2P networking is crass, CBMM needs to be reverted back to SBMM, there should be a levelling system to protect the bottom half of the player base from playing the top 10%, quests need to be separated into 2 paths being PVE or PVP path, once a guardian dies their super should stop at the point of death, F2P players should have their own mode separate from paid accounts, Heavy needs to be taken away completely and Mayhem should be available all the time as a daily event. As far as PVE goes. There's no amount of new content that will quench my thirst for content better than a complete reversal of sunset on weapons and destinations. Stripping 70% of the game away and replacing it with 5% of content has destroyed the very fabric of Destiny and ruined the experience for me and many others. New lights not being able to do Red War campaign or even know about Rasputin or being able to test their weapons and strategies in the Tribute Hall. Never being able to learn about raids in Leviathan or experience something like Escalation Protocols! You guys got ripped off! Anyway I could go on for hours so I will stop here.

1 ReplyEdited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 5/11/2021 10:04:12 AMSince Shadowkeep, the creativity and creation (of Bungie) has gone to micro and the ingame-shop and microtransactions to macro. It's more recycled content than ever, and this process continues. Every year "you" buy a blackbox that changes the game more and more from good to bad. It's like "bleed to death"... with only one purpose: Looking good. It's very sad, because Destiny 2 is something like an old and valued friend, but this friend has changed so much that I don't recognize him again.

2 RepliesI'm new , love pve, love gambit, everything may improve , I don't mind. Pvp is fine, I got used to it. All I may say that pvp is a joke in destiny 2 , it's anecdotal , about movement , I never saw destiny as a very movement based game as it literally can't compare to titanfall . Titanfall is the pinnacle of movement fps and there Will never be anything like it . So yeah ,the game is fine, season pass this time was worth the money, lore is nice, loot too, wanna see what next season may give us.
-
The game has no soul, loot is worthless, story is mediocre at best, more of chorelist than a fun time, and PvP is mindless no skill nonsense. That's my short summary.
-
Agreed! I have over 2600+ hours played and agree with everything you said.
-
Congratulations or sorry that happened

I still think D2 vanilla had the best PvP. And I don't care what people said back then or today. While it was team-shot based, it also allowed for individual encounters. And since we got the special weapon slot back, soooooo many people asked for, of course, the game dramatically changed into the D1 ape'ing again.

3500ish hours here and I agree with literally all of it.

1 ReplyConsole: Primary duels do not exist. And if they exist you 1v1 against: Crimson The last word Any 120 120s made a team shooting meta, and Stasis plus damage boosts of any kind, give free kills and unpredictability. Crimson us busted in Console and very forgiving. The last word is Aim Bot and wait for the buff tomorrow. Crucible is just awful. And Bungie nerfed Arbalest to the ground, with 30 aim assist, but Jottun, 120s, Telesto, Bastion, Snipers with 70+ aim assist, Cloudstrike, Whisper of Hedrons, Cryoclasm, 100m melee abilities are just fine!

1 ReplyI'm also pretty close to those hours, but not quite. Though, I still think it's quite a bit considering I didn't start playing D2 until December of 2018. I never played D1. Honestly, I would probably have more if my IRL friends who play were on PC, rather than console. I wish crossplay was coming out this next season. I've been in quite a few clans, but the same issues tend to arise. I use LFG in Discord when necessary, but because of circumstances, generally play solo most of the time. This is likely due to my gaming history for the most part being based in mostly single player games. RPG's and the like. I'm also 40, so I didn't really grow up on a lot of the multiplayer FPS games a lot of the younger crowd did. Anyway, I digress. I only mentioned my personal circumstances, because even though I've played a lot, I've barely experienced raiding, or competitive PVP. I'd prefer doing these activities with friends. Because of this, I can't really speak too much on the state of raids. I do play a decent amount of Crucible, but basically only when it's necessary to complete quests, obtain certain rewards, etc. I really don't enjoy it, especially now, in part due to the reasons you mentioned. I already wasn't crazy about it, but stasis has made it almost unbearable. Yes, I admit I'm not the greatest at PVP, mostly because I don't spend much time there, but I really don't want to waste time trying to get better while it is how it is currently. As you mentioned, it's the weapon meta, not just stasis, that has put a damper on it for me. I assume this will eventually change somewhat, but currently it's just not very engaging. As I said, I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned, so I won't go over those again. There are little things that still bug me too, but I'm sure not everyone cares. The pinnacle chase is annoying. If the end result was something substantial, I could see why the RNG was so unforgiving sometimes. This is subjective of course, but it seems like when I actively try to hit the cap, I'll literally go weeks just trying to get one armor piece to drop. Meanwhile, I'll get 8+ dupes of every other slot I don't need. In the end, the number isn't a huge deal, since we have the artifact anyway, but it's just selective ocd I guess. I don't want to infuse crap at 1 point below the max power. Shit drives me nuts sometimes, haha. I also wish they could make some changes to certain seasonal activities, because often times I do what I need for the triumphs and seal, then I have no reason to do the activities. Well, no compelling reason anyway. For example; I liked the Battlegrounds this season, but because of how many umbrals we got, it didn't take too long to get the ideal rolls on the weapons I wanted. Not that I'm complaining necessarily, but the point is that it meant there was no real reason to do the Battlegrounds past a certain point, because I had so many regular umbrals, there was no reason I'd spend alllll that time grinding Battlegrounds for hammer charges to focus the higher tier umbrals. They're way too expensive. Not worth doing. I really want to see a Menagerie style loot system come back. I know I'm not alone here either. The only main thing I'd want changed would be cycling the weapons and armor each season. That would be awesome. I'd grind the hell out of something like that. I also hope they hurry up and give us a replacement for the Tribute Hall. I'm actually surprised they haven't yet. Considering how popular it was, I just assumed they would give us something similar to it right away. Apparently not. Basically as it stands now, each season, I start off strong, try to hit the pass cap as quick as I can for the rewards, knock out the seasonal triumphs/quests/seals, get the weapons I want and play around with them for a good amount of time; then eventually I just cycle in other games and jump in D2 each reset to finish whatever new stuff pops up, or whatever season long milestone needs completing. It wasn't always this way though. I used to play consistently the whole season, because it seemed like there was more to do. I guess the DCV had something to do with it, but not entirely. I don't expect them to have compelling things that keep you playing 8+ hours a day the entire season, as that's a bit unrealistic. BUT, I wish they did! I won't even start with Gambit. I made a thread about this a week or so ago. It needs some life pumped into it and some changes, because it's just not a good time right now. This is a big problem honestly when you really think about it because if 2 of the 3 core activities are really frustrating and not really fun to play, that's a huge portion of playtime we're missing out on. Honestly, I see a lot of good feedback on both modes as well; and even though I don't expect Bungie to just implement all those changes, it really does seem like changes take forever, and when they do happen, it's not a huge deal. Like, I'm glad they're adjusting the ridiculous infamy total you need next season, but that in itself isn't going to make me want to play more.
