There are almost no direct comparisons to Destiny 2 that are remotely close to being as good. The closest comparison would probably be Warframe, but even that differs a good bit because of 3rd person and being almost entirely PvE.
The reason Destiny 2 is trash right now is because there is no other game like it that people can go to when it’s in a bad place. Yes, there are a million other games out there, but many people are addicted to the FPS looter shooter with a variety of modes to play. So they are essentially stuck on Destiny if they only want to play a FPSMMORPG looter shooter.
I love games like Borderlands and the like, but they don’t scratch that same itch like looting a gun in PvE, and then going into a PvP match with it to see how good it is.
Look how COD has stepped up its game in the face of other great games in the genre. Look how Ubisoft vastly improved the Assassins Creed games because of the sheer amount of good RPGs available. Franchises that were in a terrible place became good again once they were no longer the sole dominant force of the genre.
Destiny needs real competition to be great. Otherwise, Bungie will continue to stick to doing the absolute minimum to reach into our pockets.

1 ReplyDo warframe, the division, anthem, and borderlands count as competition? If so, it doesn't seem to have made a difference.
-
4 RepliesAnother great idea, you going to start a go fund me to make your own studio? Destiny seems pretty complicated to someone thats not in the industry. I dont think its going to be as easy as you think it is to have another company want to take on Destiny. From history, many have tried being Destiny Killers and failed.

It's always been the moniker that no said game can kill Destiny. The only Destiny killer will be Bungie and.....the knife is slowly turning now.
-
4 RepliesSo glad FPS are not my fave game type or I might be screwed. Been playing the witcher 3 and hellblade and haven't missed Destiny at all.
-
Honestly, if the creators of anthem weren't procrastinating for 6 years with 1 year of crunching anthem could've very well been the competition we needed. I was genuinely interested in that game. Too bad it was shit due to severe negligence. Borderlands 3 is pretty good though.
-
26 RepliesIt's why I play Borderlands 3. The game respects my time 1000x more than Destiny 2 ever has.
-
Well, blame Ubisoft and EA for failing big time to deliver good competition.
-
4 RepliesFunny enough, every game that was supposed to directly compete with destiny has tanked. that's fng impressive People who jump ship are giving examples of single player games that don't scratch that itch so to speak. I can't give a good sub in for a shooter like destiny. All the games out are quite temporary. I main monster Hunter world right now as I go week to week catching up with the battle pass in D2.

2 RepliesEdited by X_GamesMode: 1/4/2020 11:50:02 PMBro find me a guy with money and Vision, add some devs to that and I’ll be the artist, we shall make a game quite similar to this one but not so much to be sued, then do everything bungo could never do, aka have passion for the game we create, no A hole wearing a suit worrying about his millions, we wouldn’t need to worry about money anyway because, when people that actually play games and have passion for games, make games, it ends up being made for the gamers and not the businessmen, also make big dlcs, charge like 80 to 100 bucks if you really want, but make the shiit out of that dlc and make it as big as it can go, take the time to make it properly and play the shiit out of it so you know it’s good, no one will complain about how crap the dlc is if it hits all its marks and hit the players right in the feels to, aka gamers making games for gamers was how it use to be, and things need to revert back to the way they were.

21 RepliesLooting a gun in PvE and bringing it into a PvP match IS the problem. Make Destiny into a PvE action RPG like it should've always been! You'll get a single audience to please AND some competition, Bungo!
-
16 Repliesi have absolutely no idea why ppls still play warframe tbh, its 1 of most boring, easy and pointless games i ve ever played you can pretty much 1 shot everything with starter gear rofl
-
People need to realize that every other game that has tried to copy Destiny has FAILED!!! Bungie has created a game that almost no one can replicate. That's why we don't have competition
-
8 RepliesLoL @ "Destiny is trash but every other game needs to be better because nothing is as good as Destiny" This community never ceases to fail to impress.
-
You can't say Bungie is doing the minimum after writing three paragraphs about how nobody else is doing as much as they are.

Halo Reach

1 ReplyThe competition will come with Halo infinte, cyberpunk 2077, Diablo 4 ....... just a little patience and in a few months we will have quality titles
-
To be perfectly honest, I have 3 games I play right now that suit every itch that Destiny leaves me having. Warframe for story, builds, and PvE, Monster Hunter World for challenging fights (since those don't exist in D2), and No Man's Sky for exploration of the unknown. To me D2 has plenty of competition from all aspects of how to do something correctly. The only thing D2 really excels in is the feeling while shooting and using powers. They can learn a lot from the three examples I gave alone, but they won't as that isn't their 'vision'.

It has competition. Nobody gives it a chance because: Warframe came out before Destiny but everyone for some stupid reason claim it's the other way around Anthem was just a garbage fire The Division 1 launched in a horrid state so nobody has given it a second thought Borderlands franchise is ancient and Borderlands 3 had a rough launch where people mostly disliked it and only the old die hard fans still play.
-
No people here who complain need to stop buying the DLCs.
-
It does have competition, lots of competition. It's only getting worse though.
-
don't buy it anymore maybe then the understand.dont buy any DLC then they will take action
-
There’s a reason that there’s no competition and that’s cos destiny is the ip itself and to rival it would be to directly rip it off. All the other games that could rival it have always done something similar but with a big differences that remove it from the ip desired.
-
We got Avengers coming out in a few months, it's meant to be a similar type of game to Destiny (though it is third-person). Gameplay for it is pretty solid from what i've played at EGX. Though saying that I doubt it'll end up being a real competitor/killer to Destiny

25 RepliesDestiny not having anything similar to it is a GOOD thing. I don't know anyone else that wants to play another cookie cutter game. This isn't COD in space, thank God. Things get rough? Content dries up a bit? Cool. Things will get fixed and content will come back around in a few weeks. Being innovative, being different, is a good thing. Or are you one of the people that like pop country because different is scary

3 RepliesFor some time, Anthem seemed to be that game. Alas! We know how that ended...
