Stop playing Iron Banner NOW - You are wasting your time!
Wow, just wow! The new Quest steps introduced for earning armour are near impossible!
At first I thought it was a good idea, after an hour or so the 1st quest was done and I claimed my boots. Another hour or so and I claimed my gauntlets. Five hours later yes FIVE hours later I am less than 10% complete on step three.
By my calculations that means it should take me 50 hours to complete this part of the quest! Oh well, its a good job crucible quests (like pinnacle weapon quests) complete account wide so once you unlock them on one character they unlock on all of them. WAIT, WHAT? The Iron Banner quests are unique to each character!!! So I have to do this THREE chuffin times???
Out of curiosity, anyone know what steps four & five are? Not sure I can be bothered to find out myself!!
Guess I am never going to have the time to unlock this gear so really, what is the chuffin point of Iron Banner? ANSWER - THERE IS NO CHUFFIN POINT!!!

Where I agree that quest is a bit much on step 3 it’s not near as bad as you’re laying it out to be.

4 RepliesYeah maybe hey should think about how hard it is to actually get grenade and melee kills on a warlock. Grenade kills on a titan aren't so bad, melee kills aren't either. Both are ok on hunters but hunters easily have the easiest time getting super kills than anything else. Combine that with the requirement that to get the most progress you need to play as a team and you get -blam!- all progression. It's only step 3 that forces this lack of progression. Then you've gotta use some of the worst weapon types in the game for the next step but that's not as time consuming as this.

I finished my grenade kills yesterday night after work but I was at 83% already. The night before took 6 to 7 hours to hit that percentage. The weapons part of the quest is pretty simple, I'm having the hardest time with scout rifles because I'm the only one using them. Them things need help lol. But auto rifles and snipers were the easiest because everyone is sniping nowadays. In short, the only thing that needs adjusting is the grenade kills. That's a tad to much to obtain in a timely manner.

2 RepliesI deleted my quest before doing any of it. Now 100% of my package drops will be weapons. The armor will be obsolete in a few months anyway, I'd rather have all weapons. For this reason, I like the change Bungie made here. :)

Like most quests, I dont think its meant for you to do all at once. We just choose to do them like that.

5 RepliesIt took me about 5 hours to do all of step three. Which class are you using? If you have an instant grenade, I recommend punching & then throwing it on the ground before them. This is how I did mine. Step 4 takes a while but not nearly as long. You need Auto rifle, scout rifle, sniper, fusion and sword kills. Sniper gives 8% per kill and sword like 13%, others 3% per kill. Step 5 is to just play matches. 3 games at a 2-3 win streak will complete step 5. The quest isn’t hard; just time consuming. Not impossible, just eternal.

I agree. During past Iron Banners, Bungo introduce some bounties that took too much time to be completed. People are bored by this and Bungo simplify bounties. With this quest we return to the origin; Bungo = Looper. This quest is boring... I'm forced to use weapon that never use because i don't like it... swords? scoute rifle? boring!!! By the way, some characters can proceed with some step of this quest with less difficult! Compare for example grenade kills quest step... Titan = top... Hunter = poor. Quest is boring... at least shall be shared between character.

1 ReplyA good reason to play Iron Banner is to get one of the grenade launchers with spike grenades on them, since they're pretty meta at the moment.

Um any chance ur playing on hunter cause that can be pretty brutal for nade kills and melee kills. Warlocks have arc webs and handheld supernovas, and ya boi over here with his titan has got heart of inmost light and shoulder charge. This is what I do pop a shield or get a shoulder charge kill and then attach a fusion nade for an instant kill :)

I honestly would rather farm the reckoning for enhanced perks. I like the looks of that armor. Never was a fan of D2s IB armor. I'll probably do my weekly crucible in the IB. But thats it

23 RepliesLol... Bungie didn't even go for the "ol banana in the tailpipe " tactic. They told the playerbase what the rewards were going to be for this IB, introduce the grind for it and Destiny's players eat this garbage up. If you think this was bad, wait until D2 goes F2P . It will be 10x worse, but if you are willing to pay for silver .....you can progress at a faster rate, with cool cosmetics. Destiny as a whole has changed, I'm sure most agree.... from what it was first envisioned as, to where it stands today. This game just cant find its identity based on ongoing decisions by its creators. Just look at the population playing as proof. Only thing to do is chase/grind god- roll legendaries weapons ...to repeat the same mundane activities, we have been doing for the past 8 mos. Let alone we have so out-leveled the content...you can achieve it all by dual wielding Sidearms and any heavy in slot... if ya wanted. Imho... Bungie should have continued building off where D1 ended, instead of this whole D2 debacle and decision to basically resell us D1 content for a second time. Shame on you Bungie !

Quest is fine, steps 4 and 5 arent too bad although swords is odd but not far fetched. Ive decided to stick it out with the game and get the 4 season passes for next year. Too many friends that play it. If it ever takes a turn for the worse then the great thing is that I can choose from one of the other 120 games I have.
