Stop playing Iron Banner NOW - You are wasting your time!
Wow, just wow! The new Quest steps introduced for earning armour are near impossible!
At first I thought it was a good idea, after an hour or so the 1st quest was done and I claimed my boots. Another hour or so and I claimed my gauntlets. Five hours later yes FIVE hours later I am less than 10% complete on step three.
By my calculations that means it should take me 50 hours to complete this part of the quest! Oh well, its a good job crucible quests (like pinnacle weapon quests) complete account wide so once you unlock them on one character they unlock on all of them. WAIT, WHAT? The Iron Banner quests are unique to each character!!! So I have to do this THREE chuffin times???
Out of curiosity, anyone know what steps four & five are? Not sure I can be bothered to find out myself!!
Guess I am never going to have the time to unlock this gear so really, what is the chuffin point of Iron Banner? ANSWER - THERE IS NO CHUFFIN POINT!!!

I feel burned out doing this quest considering all you get is a year 1 set (which I already had), it's a shame we didn't get a new armor set for this season. Edit: A suggestion for Bungie (doubt they'll see this) but once you complete one step you should get the next quest step and not have to go back and forth to Lord Saladin in order to get the next step.

Any person who has a full time job and family commitments won't be able to do that. If iron banner was on all season it would be doable but then that would take away from the event. It's a shame because IB is my favourite thing about Destiny, love the idea of it and the whole asthetic of the armour/weapons. However I suspect the grind is just the way the event is designed to be, bungie want to see people re-engaging each iron banner in the season to try and finish off the quest steps, if the steps were so easy that people could get all the items In one IB I guess this wouldn't happen at the same level. So yeah, I don't like the grind here but I understand why it's there, maybe a middle ground where it doesn't take QUITE as long so people who want to gear up their alts or who can't sink as much time into the game have more of a chance.

I can see running 1 character for this but have no reason to run all 3 because it would feel all I'm doing is just running an event just to complete a quest. This isn't how this game should feel at all, but it does because just about everything in this game is either run bounties or quest. I remember in D1 wanting to level up all 3 characters anytime new DLC came out and did it. D2 I have only enough tolerance at this point to want to level up just one and to think if I want to level up another character and acquire a lot of the same items, I have to run the overdone grind in this entire game. No thanks...

I think it's great because I don't have to do the quest, and then the armor isn't in the loot pool, so I can more effectively farm what I actually want: the weapons.

Grenade kills are heavily favored towards warlocks and titans have decent grenades. Hunters are still freaking struggling after matches and matches of garbage grenades. Teammates end up killing enemies before your grenades do or you sacrifice yourself to get a single kill each time. This is ridiculous. If this game was even slightly better balanced, it would have a much healthier community than this cesspit of a forum.

I agree that it's slow, but it's not impossible. I'm [b]not[/b] a PvP player, but I'm finding it quite easy.

I think the quests are a good idea, but maybe the amount of time put into it should be decreased. Especially for those who don't have all day to grind.

Im trying with my hunter first since I feel getting ability kills is hardest with a hunter. Titan and Warlock will have to wait next for next time IB comes around.

The only terribly difficult step was the grenade step. The rest isn’t bad at all. Just play the game and you basically get the quest done.

3 RepliesThe grenade challenge is tough. Hunters have the worst grenades. Finally figured out a smoke bomb - void wall genade combo that works pretty well for kills. Completed the Hunter and will be going for Titan which should be easier. Two pulse grenade arc tree with hopefully a third with a chest piece. The armor looks great and, better yet, you can get some good Enhanced perks.

3 RepliesI'm gonna have to side with the others in this post: It's not meant to be completed in one week. This armor can roll with 2 armor mods AND an ornament. I would think working for that is completely reasonable.

The only thing that made this quest step doable for me was my 6 stack of clan members running grenade setups. Still took about 3 to 4 hours, that's dumb

I agree this is so broken. I use to enjoy Iron Banner but now its just a drag. Iam not sure what Bungie is thinking but i know because of screwup such as 2 flashpoints this week ? No heroic adventure on either? A lot of my clan is not gonna buy the new DLC. You broke one of the last good things . Should have left it alone it was working!!!

I had 600 tokens and all the weapons from the packages had garbage rolls. The quest isn't even on my disappointment radar. yet.

1 ReplyI will admit the grenade kill requirement for step 3 was a tad over the top. It should be noted however that the new quest line was not intended to be completed in a week, it is good for all of season 7. It also should be noted that the more team effort put into, as Shaxx would say "More grenades!", the easier this step becomes. Easier, not easy. Considering the ridiculous amount of time and effort that is going to be required however, I would like to see something at the end of this worth the grind.
