Ada-1 is the best vendor in my opinion because she offers the ability to control what players farm for and how.
If a player wants a Blast Furnace, they can farm from it without the fear of getting 20 Hammerheads first.
This is not the same for any other vendor. If you want to farm for a Doomsday, your only option is to get lucky. There is no control or method of targeting what you want. This can be incredibly frustrating when you play for hours and hours and don't even get what you're farming for.
Making the Drifter add farmable bounties like Ada would add a tremendous of replayability to Gambit and Prime.
The same could be said for all other vendors.
Edit: Thank you to those who are taking part in the conversation and upvoting. Keep it up!
Also, the key point of this post is to give the player some power in what they grind for. In this case it is specifically for the Drifter, thus allowing the player to choose which weapon to target from both Gambit and Gambit Prime. This could be anything from a Parcel of Stardust to a Spare Rations.
However, this idea could also help other vendors as well. The token system doesn't allow players to target what they want. In fact, it reinforces the overwhelming amount of RNG already present in the game. I'd like to see all vendors more similar to Ada.

59 RepliesAppreciate the feedback. Completely agree that Season of the Forge did a better job at allowing players have more control over what weapons they earned than Season of the Drifter. I’ll definitely let the team you would like to see changes made to how SoTD weapons are earned to give you more agency on what drops. In this weeks TWAB we are going to give you some info on this topic - specifically with Season of Opulence.

Great post. More of this kind of input 👍

2 RepliesSimilarly, I'd love for Petra to have endlessly farmable bounties, or at least take the stacks on stacks of Baryon Bough I have. Funnily enough, the description for them even states to take it to her to "discover its true value" or something along those lines. Even though she has absolutely no use for them.

Very much this. If enhancement perks were expanded to all armor sets and if perks are expanded generally this would allow targeted farming to not break the game's RNG grind. This needs to be done
-
I want vendors to sell random rolled weapons and armor that changes each week like in D1.
-
4 RepliesIf they did this, I wouldn’t be playing right now. Actually. Because I guarantee I would already have my list of god rolls checked off and I’d be able to go finish Kingdom Hearts But instead I’m stuck throwing myself at Oryx over and over for a bunch of blues and the occasional Outlast. NOTHING BUT OUTLAST BUNGIE PLEASE

20 Hammerheads - now that's some damn good luck

I want all vendors to be like this. I’ve got the usual like 5 weapons I use, so usually I end up hoping for good armor rolls. I’d love to be able to select just armors.
-
3 RepliesGreat idea, I could finally have a realistic way to farm a spare rations and last man standing
-
8 RepliesI would like to trade the drifter for cayde.

Edited by EmptyLuckBox: 5/28/2019 3:56:58 AMI'd like to trade my 3k baron boughs for a Last Man Standing please and thanks, but seriously with all the grief the forges get they are actually a huge QOL improvement to this game . How many times in year i spent weeks grinding for 1 weapon to top out my power now you just go make it . GG Maybe not every vendor should be like this but a more direct path with alil less rng would be nice sometimes .

5 RepliesThey need to add crafting in general to this game. They can still keep random drops but each vendor should have a set of legendaries that can be crafted with mats. The black armory was a step in the right direction for this. But since bungie has to limit what you can do in this game it probably won't happen. They need to add ways to inflate player time to make it feel and look like there's a lot of content. Why do you think you have to visit ada so many times for one gun? Or why they are limiting powerful engrams? It's not to make anything more fair or challenging or "meaningful" it's to inflate the time people spend on here to boost the numbers.

This is actually a very good idea, damn. I wanna farm the HC and Sniper only :o
-
1 ReplyYou mean the drifter should also have his knees inside the floor ?
-
Seriously, if that same system was implemented with Gambit Prime and Reckoning; I would’ve actually spent time playing those modes. People are getting to the point where if the horrible RNG in this game is there only hope of getting something they want, they’ll give up. It took me 97 Izanami Forge clears to get my, sort of, god roll Blast Furnace; but at least I had control over what I was getting. If you give me some level of intentionality in this game, I’ll grind my a$$ off. If you only give me this insanely broken RNG algorithm to depend on, I’ll pass. Way better ways to waste my time.

6 Replies"Upvote to make every vendor to be like Ada-1". Fixed

2 RepliesIdk if im right about this but doesn't certain events trigger certain gun drops in gambit prime ????? Still a chance that you get them but they do happen
-
4 RepliesLike Ada? Meaning cool looking robot with sexy voice? Driftette anyone? :D Ok, I watched too many memes, probably. On a serious side, totally agree. As much as I like Gambit (and I really do, otherwise I wouldn't play like 650+ matches), getting some guns is just... next to impossible. Or plain impossible: 24 half-banked in Prime, Collector's triumph - and all I got was this lousy t-shirt? Err, discount code for it, I mean. Literally ZERO Spare Rations, curated or random. If I had one, I'd still be playing, because I love 150 archetype, but given how shitty drop rate for Waking vigil, all guns that I have are Y1, and since I don't raid, I don't have Midnight Coup (or whatever). Way to go, bungee - great job keeping players in game! Am I right, am I right, or am I right? I'm right. Back to Gambit. I did 7 Infamy resets, but I got only 7 Hazard of the Cast. I love that gun (I really do), but how the fuk I'm supposed to farm for a better roll, if it just doesn't fokking drop frequently enough? For crying out loud, I got far more Bygones, but only 1 is relatively fitting "eh, it'll do" category. Other are just, well, "are". Or, better, Trust - my second most rewarded gun ever, but only 1 of those has a roll I could consider a demigod. Every other is just for smelting. Given how rare these items do drop (especially Prime ones, outside of curated SMG for me, which I have like 15), farming them is just not worthy of our time. Gear I got the most? Armour. Enough to equip hockey teams. Guns-wise - Bad Omens. In fact I got 7 nearly identical (close to curated roll). So yeah, I got so many of those I could use them to write "go plough yourself". I find it amusing I got so many guns with this name - game hinting we shouldn't expect anything good?:D Outside of Gambit my biggest gripes are Nightshades, which I have only 3 for 250+ rank ups, or Halfdan, which I have only 2 for 700 hours and more than 10000 gunsmithing parts dumped (I separated them because I got one from Banshee and another from world drop). So bungee should stop chewing glue and use Black Armoury to allow us to forge other archetypes of weapons (say, Molten Tulip 150 RPM revolver, or Singing Hammer 600 RPM auto rifle), and implement bounty-like structure in other activities. Otherwise, many people simply will miss vast majority of new guns, given that currently Prime/Reckoning aren't that popular (I literally see same people playing). It's like living in small village, where everyone knows everyone. Or it was bungee's intent all along - to not allow players use new stuff, because bungee is secretly a loot-ninja-hoarding-dragon?:D

That’s the entire point of the forges... You’re forging weapons of your choice. And actually no, it does not give the gamemode replayability at all. You’re guaranteed the weapon you want, the only thing you’re grinding for is a good roll. This is one of the reasons Black Armory was so poorly received. I mean seriously, when was the last time you saw someone do a forge??? There’s literally no reason to do them after getting a good role on the weapons, or getting the two exotics with insanely high drop rates. And now you can do every frame weekly. It’s cool to have something like this in the game, buy it needs to be much improved to give incentive to do it more than a few times ever. If everything in the game was guaranteed, it would be so damn boring. RNG is needed to an extent.

Edited by Raevenent: 5/28/2019 5:43:12 AMI would actually farm for a midnight coup spare rations, I got a really close one with snapshot sights and swashbuckler, I would farm for rapid hit and swashbuckler or rampage, but the grind is so -blam!-ing atrocious once I got that roll I just called it there and never went back in reckoning. I don't mind putting up with something atrocious, as long as I know I'll get a spare rations, but to get other stuff that's not a spare rations, and I've had times where I wouldn't even get one a day after playing HOURS, sometimes DAYS even, I've farmed reckoning so much so to the point I'm convinced the spare rations HC has the lowest drop rate compared to the other weapons available in the same week as it, and if I do get one, it wasn't worth keeping. It just wasn't worth putting up with anymore. Lono from SNTR hit it on the nose with this statement and I agree, the Ada style bounties are under utilized, they need to utilize it more.
-
Great idea!
-
You mean like halfway through the floor?
-
I've gotten pretty much every weapon with the perks I want at this point, so I know how brutal that grind can be. There definitely should be some way to narrow down your drops or increase the drop rates.
-
I like this idea!
-
I would like that for all vendors. I still d9nt understand why they did it at the end of d1 and dropped it. It at least gave the grind some sense of direction instead of complete rng madness
