Hey all,
In today's TWAB, we brought some info from the team concerning Enhancement Cores, their role in Destiny 2, and what plans we're looking at for the future. If you haven't read through, I've quoted the information below. Please sound off with your thoughts and feedback!
Strengthen Your Core
As you make progress in Season of the Drifter, you’ll be making choices about which weapons and armor you want to power up first. We’ve been following the conversation around the use of Enhancement Cores for infusion. As a response, the Destiny Dev Team have some changes lined up that they want to share.
Destiny Dev Team: The goal of the infusion system is to create an impactful feeling of progression when you increase the Power of an item you enjoy using. An infusion system with no scarcity around the materials would diminish this impact. To that end, we tapped into a material with inherent scarceness, Enhancement Cores, to use as one of the keystone materials for this process.
That is the goal the infusion system, but if the overall system is causing a negative experience, we want to work to improve it. We’re constantly monitoring the infusion economy to see what kind of impact it has on gear usage. We keep a close eye on the amount of infusion materials being earned versus how many are being used and will continue to make adjustments as needed.
To that end, we’ll be making a change in Season of Opulence with the goal of providing more access to Enhancement Cores.
Scrapper Bounties previously dropped randomly when dismantling gear. There was no reliable way to earn Enhancement Cores using these bounties, and we didn’t feel they were providing enough materials. We will be deprecating these bounties at the start of Season 7. (Note that any unfinished Scrapper Bounties still in your inventory when the new season begins can still be completed before their natural expiration.) In their place, the Gunsmith will now offer a selection of daily and weekly bounties that can be purchased for Gunsmith Materials. As with the Scrapper Bounties, each of these will include, among other things, an Enhancement Core as a reward when completed.
Our hope is that this increased access and control over Enhancement Core acquisition will help improve the balance of materials being earned vs. materials being used. As always, we’ll be continuously monitoring this item economy, along with your feedback to assess its effectiveness.

yeah..... yalll (bungie) can think this just might go away, but people have been increasingly clear about this. i mean aside from fixing matchmaking in crucible, and making pve worth doing again enhancment core are gonna remain a big issue
-
It doesn’t create an impactful feeling of progression. Everything drops at the same level if you have 1 core or 1k. I haven’t had an issue with the amount of cores I have. But your reasoning is utter crap. It’s not impacting progression, it’s impacting how enjoyable the game is for people with a small amount of cores. I’m not masterworking my armour because I know I’m throwing it all away in September anyway. I don’t know if the “fix” will help matters. But you could at least give us a better reason for keeping cores in infusion.
-
From the locked thread just going to say it. While it's not a "game breaking" issue it's still an extreme major issue impacting your playerbase in the wrong way as if game breaking. We will more than likely continue to make threads till the problem is actually fixed and not ignored.
-
Didn’t see anything that said “remove enhancement cores from infusion”, this just somewhat shows that our feedback is pointless?...
-
Bla bla bla we are aware of the issue but will continue to ignore your feedback, seriously you might as well not say anthing at all.
you sound like a broken record
-
We read it. People don’t like it. Please do something so the forum isn’t plagued with the complaint

5 RepliesSurely it gets to a point where "the team" has to begin considering that maybe their approach was wrong. YES,this game is made by the devs, the way THEY envision it... but ultimately it is a product, and products are best made with the overall emphasis being on customer satisfaction. This is the part where someone usually pipes up with the "people who want cores removed are the minority" argument, but over the last few weeks this issue has not gone away, and The consensus seems to be weighed in favour of removal. Destiny has definitely gained some infamy for its grind..but that's the game we all knew we were signing up for when we bought it. But adding layer upon layer to the grind and labelling it as "meaningful" is not the way to run a looter shooter. What is deemed "meaningful" from a Dev point of view, filters down to become a worthless task in the eyes of players. Many people then argue "just spend them wisely" But why? Why limit your gameplay options through a lack of necessary materials , when the alternative is opening players up to the ability to expand our options. Personally I would love to infuse and MW armor/weapon combos for a large variety of different uses. For example, I would grind for specific armor pieces that make my handcannons more effective, then would masterwork weapons to complement that armor. I would love to have different sets of armor for using different subclasses during raids, one set to increase my effectiveness with tether+weapons that work well against tethered enemies, and a different set to increase my effectiveness while using arcstrider, coupled with weapons that fit that class well. The possible combinations are extensive and add much needed variety to players choices on how they can play destiny best...but they are all limited by one single material that has been deemed "meaningful" All in all, the pros of the removal argument, in my opinion, far outweigh the cons. Feel free to tell me if you believe otherwise, I'm interested to know WHY people want them kept in their current state.. though please don't launch a spiel about how easily you get them, that's not a reason to keep them. Tell me WHY having them is a more positive player experience than removal.

I think that removing cores from infusion but increasing the amount of cores used to masterwork would be the best course of action. This way players can continue to use their best/favourite equipment throughout levelling but when they find a particular piece of gear they like then they will have to spend a lot to masterwork it. I also think cores could be used to re roll weapon masterworks and armour type (mobility, survivalist etc).

13 RepliesBumping again, due to no mention in TWAB again. Bungie, you gotta talk to us. You have to talk to us about this. Stop dodging the question.
-
You guys should release the masterwork core update now, that way we can test it out and see if it's as bad as people are assuming. That way you have time to fix it before D3 if it's bad.
-
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/251684384/0/0 A poll on this subject. Let's keep it bumped and current.
-
You aren’t listening. Remove enhancement cores from infusion.
-
Edited by JazzyPaladin477: 4/8/2019 6:48:13 PMClearly they are getting ready to sell cores at neververse soon. Isn't that right DMG? Coding is done and it's too late to back down now right? After "listening" to the tsunami of enhancement core "feedback" they got, its the only explanation to why they are so weirdly clinging to (and doubling down on!)such an irritating and universally hated game mechanic.
-
9 RepliesThe only impact is a negative one. There is no good thing about the high cost of infusion. Stop being arrogant and change it back. I did not see one post, pre forsaken, complaining about infusion.
-
Nope. Shoulda stayed for master working, and also get rid of the planetary mats as part of the requirement. Getting gear is meaningful enough, not upgrading it afterwards. Taking time away from the things that i want to do to go patrol and gather the mats just seems unnecessary.
-
4 RepliesThis dev team just doesnt seem to -blam!-ing get it. So ill spell it out for you. ENHANCEMENT CORES DO NOT BELONG IN INFUSION. They can stay in the game, but should be used ONLY for masterworking. Lightlevel doesnt mean shit unless youre underleveled so why bother with this crap system? The cores arent numerous enough to be used for infusing. Grinding for -blam!-ing cores is not what people want to do. Maybe fix your trash matchmaking and rng and servers and game stability and consistency in general before you continue -blam!-ing more stuff up. Dumbasses.
-
GET RID OF THIS TIME GATE, DELAY, FUN LIMITING SHIT NOW!
-
This is stupid, y do we have to now pick between mods and enhancement cores
-
A better way to get them would be nice. Like getting them from strikes, gambit, raids, etc... Anything else that gives powerful gear. You can either choose the gear or EC. Dailies give 1-2, Weeklies give 3-4. That would be plenty.
-
So, DMG, are you actually gonna “discuss” anything with us, or just make your post, let it burn and ignore us like usual?
-
Players are gonna be like enhancement chore and not be easy to get once d3 rolls around.
-
Was waiting for the response to the last “discussion”. D3 huh? Yeeeeeah I’m a pass on that one Karen...🤔. Peace ✌️
-
So DMG will yourself or anyone from Bungie join in on this Discussion this time ? I personally don’t believe anyone from Bungie will be reading these posts , it’s just a way to try and stop all the other post on the forums , Least all the other posts were getting noticed posting in here is just being ignored , Prove me wrong , join the Discussion with ur customers.
-
3 RepliesThis issue makes the game a lot less enjoyable. Not sure why you guys want to make players feel that way. Use the cores for masterworks and that's it.
-
Since DMG said “(cores) aren’t a game breaking issue” in another thread and that was locked, I’d like to reply here. “No offense man, but it broke my will to play. I barely get on the forums anymore. I haven’t even opened Drifter yet. That’s money out of the companies pocket. I’d say something with this much negative feedback for 7 months from about 98% of the community is game breaking. Every time Bungie has listened to feedback since D2 launched it has made the game better; quicker ability times, TTK drop, etc. people just STOP complaining cause it is actually what the game needs. if there was even slight adjustment on this like halving the cores needed, the community would rejoice. Just a weird hill to die on for an entire franchise. That is all.
