Has anyone else lost motivation to play

This is not an i hate destiny post. I had 2 days off and thought cool i will work on some stuff on Destiny. Only to realize that there is nothing to do. I'm bored of the forge and thats really all the new content. Nothing else to do after. Can't get titles due to rng. I already own Luna so no comp, no interest in the mountain top. Iron banner is over and that was fun for a few days. So the question is what games can you suggest cause i think im going to put destiny down for a while.

  • Certainly have, all the rng in the game is sickening. I would much rather invest my time in a game that will reward me for the time I’ve spent grinding getting the weapons and gear I want. Exotic drops are terrible, rolls are terrible, and endgame is shit. There should be a guaranteed means of getting everything in game over a period of time through quests or crafting, not the same old you may or may not get rng factor. I’ve spent close to 2,000 hours on destiny 2, but gave up and picked up Monster Hunter World which may be grindy and repetitive like d2 but at least I have a guaranteed means of obtaining the weapons and gear I’ve worked for to me it’s way more rewarding than this crapfest of a game.

D2 could have been a hell of a lot better of a game than it is now. Bungie literally had everything from D1 right in front of their face and they ignored it all. That has to be the dumbest thing any AAA gaming come has ever done creating a sequel. On top of it, have a whole new team working on the game and Luke Smith of all people lead the game. It was a huge mess way before it went out the door and I don't know how any dev working for this company after working on D1 since 2007 could say it was a decent product that was ready to go out the door as is. This minimal effort in creating content is the issue in this entire game. Just the forge itself could have been a hell of a lot better if this company would have actually taken the time and put a little more effort and thought into it. Think about this for a moment. (This is only my opinion) whether anyone likes it or not doesn't matter. Bungie could have changed the experience by having the forge connected kind of like P.O.E and how EP is set up to where when you clear a room you move on to the next and more challenging experience. That alone would have saved the time having to go to orbit and run between 2 different planets and all that time in between just to run a tiny event. The way Bungie has it set up now doesn't give much of interest since everything between all 3 different areas are the same thing repeating the same thing over and over and over and over again leaving no room to do nothing else but the something. This is not what anyone can call quality content. It's another Court of Oryx that will get old real quick and left behind like Court of Oryx was. Having more content is not the issue in this game as far as events go, it's the quality of the content that is the issue.

    • For me, and just my opinion, the game has design problems. I will explain shortly. The nature of the game is that it wants to be a lot of things, but it doesn’t master any. Art wise it is superb and gameplay is great. It has a lot deep detail, can’t argue with that. RNG: I learned to grind and farm, since probably Final Fantasy 1. I would just stay in one area, for hours, killing the same IMP or Wolf, over and over, so I could level up, gather items and then try to kill the all powerful Marlboro. Some level of grinding and farming is required in almost every game out there. With other games you would do it, so you could defeat a powerful boss that would give you a unique reward and/or get a piece of armor/weapon that was worth the effort. But, what you wanted was basically guaranteed. Many of those games also have a level of RNG. A particular boss may drop a unique item that you want/need. You would farm that boss for hours, but since it is the only source for that item you know it was basically guaranteed that you would obtain it. Now comes Destiny’s take on RNG. Mostly everything in this game is obtained via RNG. Everything is a roulette in this game and it is obnoxious. Nightfall and nightfall drops RNG. Gambit and Malfeasance quest items have RNG. Seals requirements have RNG. 1,000 Voices drop is RNG and so on and so forth. Even buying with money an engram from Eververse has RNG. The only items out of this RNG loop are quest specific items, and I’m highly grateful for those. Getting the Whisper with friends was a blast, but getting my 10th Blast Furnace with slideshot and field prep is idiotic and frustrating. The RNG in this game is just a leashless monster that can’t be tamed. I do not know what the solution to this RNG conundrum is. I do know that it is designed to keep you playing for a long, long time. At the end, I am just so tired, that finally getting that “reward” makes no difference, it creates no emotion other than apathy. I could care less for that item now. 650: My 3 characters are 650 and I opened the 3 forges with the 3 toons, and I see this as a problem. Reaching 650 is not the problem. The problem is that once you get to 650 you feel stuck. I have thousands and thousands of planetary materials and thousands and thousands of vanguard/crucible/iron banner coins. I have almost 30 prime engrams, and a bunch of powerful engram bounties including Iron Banner completed bounties, just there in the pursuits. There is no incentive to redeem them. I will not get anything that I don’t already have. I already have all “drop” exotics in the game. In this game trying to reach 650 is a problem and being 650 is a problem. My friends keep getting the same weapons over and over, and what they are missing to reach 650 in one of their characters is armor. This game has no sense of balance. Highly frustrating to level up and frustrating when you get there, there is no incentive to do anything. Also this game desperately needs new areas to explore and new maps, it is stale as it is now. Vendors are worthless and stuck in Y1, it is ridiculous. This game has the potential to become a real legend. It is full of great ideas but with bad delivery. I remember seeing the Collections tab for the first time. It was a great idea. Being able to delete and clean up the vault, where I can just reacquire something later, via Collections is great. Then came the random rolls and you was not able to reacquire items that had random rolls. How stupid can that be, specially since most Y1 items became obsolete the moment Forsaken was available. Then came the change to infusion costs and the enhancement cores dilemma. That is by far the most ridiculous thing ever in a game. It is still, to this date, a hot debate. Destiny 2 is a game that can easily win game of the year awards and other prestigious awards, but it needs to evolve and change. It needs definition and balance. 1. Get rid of Y1 weapons and armor, except exotics, of course. I don’t want to see them in collections as they are irrelevant. This is not Destiny 2 anymore. It is Destiny Forsaken, make it so. 2. Give all vendors new, specific, weapons and armor. I would like to rock a newly designed failsafe inspired armor set with a Ghost that has her voice and antics (I can dream). 3. Make collections relevant to new items. Do something about reacquiring items with random rolls. Bungie created this problem by themselves, they can fix it as they are creative. 4. Do something about infusion costs. 5. New areas to explore, public spaces and maps. 6. Take a look at the RNG, it has a function, but that function can’t be to punish players and make them not care anymore. 7. Once you reach light level cap give an option to get something in return from prime engrams. Give me 5 cores for all I care, don’t know, something. 8. Make planetary materials relevant to purchasing new stuff from the newly introduced vendor options. 9. Fix loading times. Takes too long to load the UI. 10. Get rid of cosmetics from Seals. They just don’t make sense for a Seal from the beginning. Balance and changes this game needs.

You know, I actually don't believe necessarily that there isn't anything to do as much as how irrelevant everything is. Bungie has failed to layer the game appropriately and create substance for what we do, have and earn. I hopped on Destiny to kill some time and the "magic" everyone speaks of that's "gone" comes from the emptiness of everything we've done. The cookie cutter grind design is antiquated and has become an insult to players who have grown with this franchise. Useless NPCs riddle this game. Useless seasons riddle this game. Useless events riddle this game. Useless quests, weapons and armor riddle this game. What does any of it mean? It seems elementary, but Bungie has failed to harness the "Becoming Legend" component. They killed the only entertaining character in Destiny 2 for no reason (other than a cheap tactic to create emotional substance towards sales of Foresaken), and the only two compelling characters (the drifter and spider) remain flat. Of course there's no motivation. We've been disrespected at every turn since launch. These days I wander around on patrol or sit in space thinking to myself, "This means nothing. It'll all be irrelevant next season, update, DLC, or whatever." The music, the worlds, gameplay etc. are wonderful, yet sad. It's an empty game of chores. The shader system alone is depressing. The abandoned sparrow racing? (I loved it even though it needed work). Customizing our subclass builds, gone. The recycled PVP maps were insulting. They could've just brought back all the old maps on top of the new ones. No one would've judged them. Lost Sectors don't have their own narrative or lore or weapons/armor. NPCs don't even relocate or "live". No matter what time of day or event going on, Devrim Kay is still wearing the same thing, doing the same thing, saying the same things, offering the same things at the same place. The worlds are mostly empty, save for repeated respawns of enemies. And what about the Farm? Useless. We have exotic ships.... that do nothing. Same for sparrows and ghosts. We used to have exotic class items. We don't even have bonuses for wearing full themed sets. There's no motivation because motivation is generated with true purpose and reward. Reward that is built upon, not abandoned. Purpose that builds towards something that will not fade, and not become pointlessly recycled tasks (like chasing light level numbers). We have not become legend. Yet, we still play, hoping someday we may at least feel like we have.

        • Lost it as soon as the dawning started. They actually made some form of a attempt to fix a few things when it was time to get our cash again. Imagine my frowny face when I seen the new forges were me doing all the same milestones for a light level that doesn't make me feel powerful? I'm tired of them calling it new content and all the do is move the number on everything. I don't enjoy the same boring things to get 1 light level at a time . And you go back to day one places and I still attack and die as fast as when I was light level 200. Most games have a power level to get to before end game starts. Not this game getting a light level is the only end game. There is not one task you haven't seen before when you max level in this game. Ever And the RNG isnt a grind. It's a artifical content to prolong are game time. Not fun. And what other game sells you a RNG chance at a RNG item ?most games sell you what you want .

            • Only because the BLACK ARMORY and ANNUAL PASS is such an irritating, exploitative mess... I was always a casual Destiny player, but bought D1, Taken King, D2, and then Forsken... Frankly, I admired the game but was never in love with it until the Forsaken dropped, and then tried it again and I started playing like a hardcore player for a few months.... It was a blast. Such a fantastic game. I could write an essay of its joys.... THEN, oh then, BLACK ARMORY dropped... I spent 35$ for an Annual Pass (never doing this again) and bought it with only a shady, vague description of what I was buying...... Only to discover I had to grind for 3 weeks to get my level to 615, and now when I join I'm routinely put in games where the power is 625, and I get wrecked... Or I'm put into a team with low-level players who get wrecked.... the idea that there are 3 more Forges designed just like this is so tedious, lazy, and boring.... Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Activision is going to monetize and drain the fun out of this game.... So, I'm done playing Destiny 2 for now....I'll check back when Part 2 of the Annual Pass hits and see if it's worthwhile, or if Bungie has finally quit on its community...

            • I've lost all motivation to do anything in this game and that's bad. All Bungie does is reskin weapons and armor, put a new coat of paint or a few sparkles and that's your new weapon, armor, sparrow and ship. It shouldn't be that way want to know why? AS MUCH AS THE DEMAND FROM ACTIVISION TO PUT -blam!-ING MICROTRANSACTIONS IN THIS GAME WHICH EQUALS MORE MORE MONEY FOR THEM, then as players and consumers we should demand NEW gear always.. NEW... no reskins of any kind whatsoever! I don't know about you but putting new perks in a gun or armor and calling it "new" and LOOKS the same as any other gun.. brother that shit ain't new. As much as having a new perk in a gun I also want to see my gun to look and feel new. This is important to me as a player. If not it becomes dull and boring and gives no desire to get a weapon. At this point I just might not get Destiny 3 because this company just doesn't get it. I blame mostly Activision. They were just fine before making this deal with them. I actually think they could've done better without Activision. Sorry for caps, I was not yelling at you, I'm just irritated at this franchise.

Totally agree, before forsaken I stopped running all three, and only ran Warlock and Huntard, now I only really run Warlock he's at 650, Hunter is at 605, I just can't summon up the motivation too run more than one anymore, games lost all lustre. While Anthem won't kill off Destiny, it'll always have it's fanboys, I can't wait for it.
